  1. Thank You My Friends! I'm working on my next Harrier in 32nd, a GR.5. Soon some WIP pics. CIAO! Piero
  2. Hello, after a break of 2 year and a half, here she is. Trumpeter kit in 32nd scale with a lot of custom made parts, resin bits from Flightpath PE from Eduard and decal from Airframe and Zotz. Airbrshed acrylics colours are Gunze and Tamiya, Vallejo for details with brush. And now enjoy the pictures. CIAO! Piero
  3. ... I think is an optical illusion due the prospective of the pic... As for the profile, the straight "body" on the bottom part is one of fin of the Maverick behind the fuel tank. Same for the profile of the point of the fule tank... is "rounded" by the cap over the sensor of the Maverick. That's my interpretation. CIAO! Piero P.S.: And the frangible cap of the CRV-7 rocket pod (19 shots) was always in olive-green colour.
  4. Hi, back to work on this artic RAF Harrier GR.7. Decals are on. I'm working of the loads... An inert 1000lb bomb. A TIALD pod. A Maverick drill & launcher shoe. A couple of BOL. And a pair of fuel tanks. A dirt washing and stencils decal on the load will follow soon. CIAO! Piero
  5. Hi, the GR.5 nose is fnished. CIAO! Piero
  6. .... mmmmh.. no. None of the pics I've posted has rocket pod... Which pic are you looking at? If you're looking at the pic of Dave's post, its the black pointed tip of the fuel tank. CIAO! Piero
  7. here some pics of RAF Harriers with "live" Maverick during Op Telic. I'm not the owner of the pics. Pics are only for discussion purpose. ... and, NOT all the GR.7s were TIALD-capable at that time... so, check your references Piero
  8. ... you can fix the wing like this... CIAO! Piero
  9. Hi, 1. As Dave says, the LERX depending on the serial number. Most of ZDxxx has the 65% "small" LERX. Most of the ZGxxx has the 100% "big" LERX. 2. During the early stage of Op Telic the war load includes AIM-9M, but after the first weeks with no enemy fighters around the missiles were not carried. IIRC, CRV-7 rocket pods were never used during Op Telic. Paveway II or E-Paveway II were not cleared for outboard pylons (station 1 & 9). Usually those pylons were only for RBL755, 500lb bomb or BOL. At that time Paveway II were loaded under stations 2 & 8, and when they used the E-Paveway II were loaded under stations 3 & 7. During the early stage of operation the station 5 was used for RBL755. After was used only for JRP recce pod. CIAO! Piero
  10. Hello, I'm back to the workbench... Here some new parts I'm working on for the Harrier / AV-8B kits in 1/32nd. New Harrier GR.5 nose (panel lines are in progress right now). Completely reshaped nose for the GR.7 kit. New AV-8B Plus radome + FLIR fairing. Completely reshaped nose and FLIR fairing for the Plus kit. The kit radome has a wrong nose-up attitude and the FLIR fairing is too small. New AV-8B Plus / Night Attack dorsal chaff launcher + longer fin intake. Completely reshaped dorsal chaff launchers and fin intake for the Plus and Night Attack kit. The kit chaff launchers are too small and with wrong shape. Also the position on the kit is wrong (too back). The kit has fin intake is too short. New AV-8B ECM Pod AN/ALQ-164 Completely new pod for all the AV-8B (Vanilla, Plus, NA). Maybe some or all of them will be resin casted. CIAO! Piero
  11. Hi, this is a draft drawing of what I mean for the two "shape" I hypothesized for the MIRLS bulge under the GR.5's nose. What do you think? CIAO! Piero
  12. Hi Rich, thanks for the pics. What I'm really looking for is a picture taken from the front undercarriage toward the nose cone. I need to figure out if the back of the MIRLS fairing/bulge was flat or knife blade shaped. I'll try to do a couple of drawings to explain better what I mean. CIAO! Piero
  13. Hi Muzz, the GR.5 has a "bulge" under the ARBS optical lens. The bulge was designed to accommodate a "Miniature Infra Red Liner Scan" but for budget this recce-system has never been installed and was cancelled. A ballat was installed to balance the weight. But on the GR.5 the bulge was always there, from the first until the nose shape was changed in the GR.7 "style". CIAO! Piero
  14. Hello, I'm looking for a set of accurate photos of the Harrier GR5's nose, which I'm trying to replicate in 1/32nd scale. I've got some profile/3-view drawing in scale as the photos in the Aeroguide book, which are good reference, but I noticed that the "forms" are very particular, and the NATO green color does not help to understand the true dimensions of the bulge for the ill-fated infrared sensor. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction, especially with some close-up photos of the underside of the nose? Many thanks. CIAO! Piero
  15. Hello my friends, just to tell you I'm fine I've been taking a "little" break from modeling... almost a year and a half But now could be the right time to come back... we'll see. CIAO! Piero

  18. ... 1/48 scale Hobbycraft/Tamiya GR.1 kit has one Vinten Vicon centreline recce pod. CIAO! Piero
  19. time to go on with the RAF Harrier GR.7 "Snow Falcon 2002". Camouflage is on, washing is in progress with the rear and underside sections yet to do. I'm not really happy with the result at this stage, but I'll will see later if I'll need to re-done some. CIAO! Piero
  20. THANKS!!!... my "Snow Falcon" is going on... new WIP's pictures should be posted this sunday. CIAO! Piero
  21. Hello my friends, thanks to everyone for the wonderful words of appreciation. Here some additional information to answer some questions. The MDC on the canopy is a decal from Zotz decal sheet for the Harriers... is a direct replacement that cover the one moulded on the clear part... just perfect fit! The residue of the exhaust fumes and stain effect which is located at the bottom and rear of the model was made using only light layers of Tamiya paints as Smoke, Rubber Black, Buff and Brown Red. And last, to whom asked for resin parts, unfortunately are still unavailable... sorry. CIAO! Piero
