I have done the polishing now and painted the trim on the body thr panel lines i did buy thinning down some black enamel and touching the panel line with the brush and letting the capillary action fill up the engraved panel lines and once dry i got a soft cloth and rubbed of the excess paint sorry for the crap pictures i will take some outside on the weekend
  5. When this turned up in the post i just had to start it even though i have a few other builds on at the momment i have been unsure about what colour to do it but on asking some peoplei decided to go with pearl white and smoke over the wheels it should look nice and clean im doing this one OOB it should look like this one when finished First off i primed with halfords white Then the base coat of zero white for the pearl was layed down and the pearl topcoat was put on Once the paint was dry i put on some klear and its all ready to polish up in a few days you can just make out the pearl paint it does not show that well on camera but it came out great though Has anyone got any thoughts on the interior colour i should go with pls
  6. I have done a bit more work on this one the wheels have been painted and i am using a different method of clear coat i am using johnsons floor wax i have airbrushed it on and polished it up with wax for the c/f effect i have used the ladies tights method that i have done on past builds but for the colour i have mixed up black and a bit of white as i did not want it to stand out to much the body has had a final coat of klear floor wax and polished up i looks great The engine has only been test fitted now the body is out off the way i can starT on the engine and forks .Still waiting for the other set off
  7. The decals have been put on now thw were very good nice and thin they conformed nice to the body i will leave them for a few days and then i will clear over them and polish

  13. this is my first post on here i started this a week or so ago for a customer who asked me to build it for them I have started asembling the main parts and i will sort out the bodywork first i will get some picture up asap also i have stripped the frame of its crome with oven cleaner foam this is the fist time i have done this hope it dont mess up and i will paint it with aluminium paint and clear coat with a semi-gloss finish i have made up most of the parts here all ready for undercoat once that has been done there is a base coat of silver to lay down the the blue and i will put a light coat of clear over it ready for decals frame has now been stripped of the crome and sprayed up aluminium here are the decals finished all ready for a clear coat these decals are very tough the had lots of microsol spread over them to set them right but they turned out nice in the end i will make a start on the engine and frame soon i am going to us the method listed below items needed for the C/F process a pair of ladies tights elastic bands black paint gun metal/or a bronze paint airbrush a pair of laytex gloves all the c/f process is first paint the parts to be c/f first with black paint then when dry put on the gloves then put the tights over your hand place the part that you are going to c/f between the glove and the tights stretch the tights over the part to open up the weave of the tights not to tight ot the partten will not look right then place the elastic band over your wrist to stop the tights rolling back up keep the airbrush on a low air presure and spray a light dusting on the colour that you want to have the carbon fibre weave you need thenl et dry once that is done you can clear over the parts as it is or i like to tone it down a bit with a coat of tamiya smoke then clear over the result is really convincing if you have complex contours to cover i mask up and do one area at a time it takes a little bit of time but not as much time as c/f decals and it is also cheaper i have finished the c/f effect i have given them a coat of tamiya smoke the i used future(havent used this before)lots of layers the effect has turned out nice A little more work has been done the exhausts have been heatstained clear blue orange then smoke have been used The c/f panels have benn insalled too The decals have been put on the wheels the bike is sitting a bit low a the momment that is because the damper has not been completed yet there but it is now starting to take shape The bike is not yet finished and someone has pm me from another model forum site to with a offer to buy the bike off me but have told them that this one is not for sale as this is for another customer all bought and payed for so i have offered to make him another one of these as i have enjoyed making this one the most i might have to do one for me too as all the models i have built and i havent got one to put on display
