  1. Ditched most the PE. Its overly complex and for very little reward. Quite peeved at myself for continuing, even when I knew it was pointless. Just plopped the seat in and the front dials. That will do.
  2. Horrible kit to work with. I'm glad I didn't fork out the £33 asking price on some other ebay listings. The photo etch is fiddly and unnecessary, the details on the plastic need to be reinstated in places due to flash. Think this one will just be a throw it together kinda build just to get something out of it. Will try my best and update with pictures later on.
  3. Bought this from fleabay for £7.50 on a whim. To be honest, it's not the best looking kit, has quite a lot of clean up needed. Does have some nicely cast resin parts, in contrast to the rough injection molding. Took everything off the sprues to clean up. Some big feed gates that cut into the parts the spinner is almost solid on the back. Includes some photo etch too. Made a start on the cockpit. I must admit, at 1/48 some of this is a bit pointless as it won't be seen when the half's are closed up. I've also lost the rudder pedals to the carpet monster. I might buy another (not a flashback) and have a go at the smoke ring camo at a later date. 🐧
  4. Funny you say that. I was searching over the box for a picture as a quick reference guide to look at. It's not even on the box 😂
  5. It's my understanding that the smer and merit are identical. It will be hanging from my sons ceiling with all the others soon
  6. Yup, windscreen has gone walkies 😂😂😂
  7. As far as I know it's to control the ailerons. Thanks for mentioning the Lewis gun. I've just realised I forgot the clear plastic windscreen above it, and the breather tube for the fuel tank. 👍
  8. Had a game recovering my Flickr account. So didn't do a WIP for this one. Plus I tend to build pretty slowly now I have a little one. Bought this one from fleabay, was actually 2 kits in the box, as one was missing small bits that the other kit had. So I've got a spare one, albeit missing a Lewis gun a couple of struts and the tail skid. If anyone wants it PM me, you can have it for £2 plus postage. Yes it's got rigging, no I haven't finished the Taube yet 🙄 Not the best photographer or modeler for that matter. Haven't used weathering on this one as the crews generally kept them pretty clean. So here it is. Added twisted wire to replicate the wicker on the seat. Thanks for looking, comments and criticism welcome. 🐧
  9. Simply fantastic work. I'll be holding out on building mine until you've finished yours and I can use this thread as reference 😂
  10. Amazing job on the camo. Looks fantastic. I have the flashback one in my stash, contemplating building it soon.
  11. Fantastic 👍 looks lovely. I really wanted to do a camo scheme, yours looks fantastic, but I liked the grey to much. 🐧
  12. Hey all. This has been sat on the shelf for quite some time. I've been looking at it and contemplating. I think I'm going to remove the rigging so far, as it's not quite right and looks out of scale. I have some 0.1mm stuff I can paint into a dark colour to replace it. This kind of rigging is my first ever venture, and I should have replaced the uprights on the wing with metal. Same for all the supporting struts really. I've got some metal rod that should fit the bill so I'll look at replacing it all to make life easier rigging, the plastic just bends to much and lines look slack or distorted. This WILL get finished however it's going to take a little longer as other builds are lined up. I've an airco dh to build to, so that should help with the rigging practice. I'll keep you all posted. 🐧
  13. Not the oldest I've done recently. Last one was from 1962 It was a very nice kit to build. Not many fit issues. Lovely cockpit detail 🐧
  14. Hey all. Took quite a while as I don't normally do 1/32, this was a half started kit my friend abandoned 25 years ago. I picked it up and decided to give it a go. Rescribed panel lines which is a first for me. Decided on a 'ghost grey' scheme. It's probably incorrect for the tail number, but it's my build and I liked the gret/blue colour scheme's I've seen. I've just realised I haven't painted the arresting hook black and white. So excuse that. But I will sort that out later. Thanks for looking 🐧
  15. I'm calling it done. Will post up RFI in a minute 🐧
  16. Both just in time. Miss all the fluff and get the end game. 😂
  17. She's a dirty birdy Got to paint the arresting hook, sort the pylons out, the gears are already assembled and ready to fit. Had a bit of trouble with the oils on this one. Don't know if I need better quality paints, or if because they have sat so long that the oil in them had come to the top of the tube. Or I hadn't put enough satin varnish on beforehand. Either way it's done now. Got a few irl things planned next couple of days, but hopefully get a few bits done on the evenings. Oh and I've got to paint the canopy 🙄 something I hate doing more than decals. Till next time 🐧
  18. Panel lines done The two darker patches on the left under the pylons was a bit of a mistake. When I was spraying a very light white layer over the grey salt weathering I forgot to turn the model enough, so ended up with one wing lighter than the other. But I kinda like it. Not everything in life is symmetrical. I'll probably tone it down a little, but we'll see what happens with oils shades yet. Thanks all 🐧
  19. Thanks for the comments 😊 I doubt my scratch built missles are any better 😂 I just went off basic scale plans I found. 🐧
  20. Yes it does. Some of the decals were damaged so one scheme was out of the question. Looking at pictures online, this bird came in so many different colour schemes I'm willing to bet some planes got painted several times, all colours in between. Plus I kinda like the grey/blue, and after all, it's my model so I'll paint it how I like 😊 Thanks for the comments 👍 🐧
  21. Been a few days. Got some more done. Decals are on. I know its probably all the wrong colours and markings, but hey ho is what it is. Started on some panel line washes before I matte cote and then oil paints. Still have to scribe and paint the pylons and assemble the landing gears. Thanks for looking 🐧
  22. I keep second guessing my work. Ill be using decals for the 'wrong' paint scheme, even though I'm sure these aircraft got painted all sorts of colours being the aggressors. But I'm kinda liking the grey tones. Hopefully all the rescribing will help me tie it together with some weathering and oil paint blobs. I think I should put the decals on to stop me respraying it. I mean, there's some nice tones in there. Just realised that the front number decal is over the gun hatches...of course 🙄 I also need clear red and blue for the lights. That's going to take a bit of digging into the resourcefulness box. Going to approach all this tomorrow, the red wine is calling me. 🐧🍷
  23. Bit of salt chipping in the bottom. Toned the blue grey colour on the top side down. Photos in the shed aren't very good though. 🐧
  24. I've added a little sky blue and I think it look too much now. I'll add salt and tone it all down. Update shortly.
