Thanks for sharing your build with us. It’s nice to see a good looking Gnat after all these years. I have nostalgic recollections of building a 1/72 Red Arrows variant when I was a kid (…long time ago). Your build prompted me to purchase the Airfix kit and having examined it this evening, I’m pleased that I did so; another quality release from Airfix.

An outstanding model of an interesting subject. The metal work is excellent. 3D prints usually have some form of banding on them but I can’t see anything of that nature on your build. Well done. -

Very very nice. I am very impressed with the muted contrast you have managed to achieve between the primary camouflage colours. To my eye, it looks very realistic. Well done. -

Well worth the effort, and the satisfaction of victory. -
Sam, I like what you've done here. The paintwork has turned out well and the weathering gives it a nice finish. Thanks for sharing your experience regarding the Tamiya Lacquers, I will have to give them a go at some stage.

Jon, this is a truly outstanding build, well done. The publishers of Scale Aircraft Modelling (Sept 21) can thank you for posting some images of your build on Britmodeller.com because I purchased the digital version of the magazine to read your article. I found your article informative, I picked up a few tips for future builds. I'll definitely be referring back to your article and this post (for some visual inspiration) when I get around to building the Hasegawa F-2A I have in the stash. I am a big fan of the Japanese oceanic camouflage schemes and I purchased the Hasegawa kit and the DXM JASDF ACM 2013 decal set some years ago. I am looking forward to doing the 8th Squadron Black Panther version. Thank you for sharing your build with us. -
Congratulations on a truly outstanding build. Your photography is also excellent, providing the right amount of detail to compliment your commentary. Finally, thank you for outlining the various processes you used to get the finish you have achieved, that was very helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to update your original post. It was very nice to see these again (without the ‘photobucket’ graffiti). So many excellent models, the Hustler is one of my faves. -

Wow! Jon, the finish on your build is amazing. How did you get the paint to lie down so smoothly? And how did you do the exhaust stain? I’ll head on over to the build article to see whether you answered those questions over there. Amazing build, well done. -

20 years in storage has given it that “worn out” look George Lucas was going for when he directed the original Star Wars. Very nice work. I don’t recall seeing this kit in Australia back in the day (1983) so I wonder whether it ever made it to our shores. Bandai’s recent release is a welcome addition to the lineup.- 10 replies

I know I’m in for a treat whenever there’s an Andy Moore post in the science fiction forum. You never disappoint. If you ever get around to releasing a gonk online, please let me know as I’d add one to my collection of other, as yet unbuilt, Star Wars figures from Bandai. -
Very clever. I would not have guessed that, so thanks for sharing, I learned something today! Cheers.

Bandai's 1/48 AT-ST "Chicken Walker"
ScaleModelHobbyist replied to 72nders's topic in Ready for Inspection - SF & RealSpace
Looks good to me. Personally, I would give it a bit more weathering. Mainly because George Lucas’ goal was to make Star Wars look like a galaxy that had been “lived in” (i.e. run down and worn out). However, weathering is a matter of personal preference so you must do what you feel is right, of course. When weathering this particular kit, one has to be very careful what you products you use. Some modellers have reported their kits fell apart when they used washes (reportedly some reaction between the liquid in the wash and the plastic of this kit). You should be proud, you’ve had a couple of completions in a short period of time, well done.
