  1. Hi all; As the title says, I wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find some 1/72 scale plans for the Fiat G.46? I'm wondering if someone like Aviation News or one of the modelling magazines may have published some, so any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks is advance; Steve
  2. Having one of these kits on the go myself, which I'm throwing everything and the kitchen sink at to bring it up to scratch, I'm really enjoying your build of this old classic Airfix Emil. Love it! You are doing a grand job Sir! I love these old Airfix Superkits and have dozens in the stash. This build illustrates perfectly just how well these kit scrub up with some TLC. I think we should let you loose on the Stuka! Best regards; Steve
  3. Hi Graham; Many thanks for all that information and that clarifies it perfectly now. D18S 3TM it is! I now know what references I'm looking for. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. Best regards; Steve
  4. Hi Graham; Many thanks for the detailed reply. Beech 18s are more complicated than I first thought! I'm looking at building the Beech 18 that belonged to Graham Warner ( G-BKGL ) and want to build it as it was circa 1983. I know this airframe still flies, so it should be easier to turn up information. A site that I visited stated that it was a Beech 18S (3TM). I think I got the C-45F confused with the F2 as wiki states that the 18S served as a basis for the F-2, which I took to mean the C-45F which had the longer nose. I now see that the F-2 and the C-45F were two different types (I think). Then again, I see reference to a model 18S and a B18S. Two different types again? I've just found a reference that say G-BKGL was a model D18S I am actually getting confused now. Best regards; Steve
  5. Hi Scott; Many thanks for the info and links...very helpful and a great build too! I tried to do a bit of digging online and was surprised to find that there were more variations with the Beech 18 than I realised, and that there aren't many drawings online that seem to agree with each other. For example, many show the wing leading edge as a continuous straight line right up to the fuselage....others show the flare out from the nacelle to the fuselage. I still haven't found out if there were variations in the leading edge shape. I'm looking at building a Beech 18S, which according to Wikipedia had a slightly longer nose. Would that mean that the Hobbycraft kit might be correct in this instance? I also haven't managed to decipher if an 18S has the long or the short nacelles. Seems to be a minefield to a Beech 18 know-nothing like myself! Best regards; Steve
  6. Of course, that wasn't the only thing he'd been up to, being sentenced to 12 months last June for "other" offences... Harrow Times has the full story... Best regards; Steve
  7. Hi all; I know this a ye olde thread, but I just stumbled across it looking for info on the PM and Hobbycraft kits. I've got both kits in front of me and wonder which one I should tackle. I'm leaning towards the HB kit, but was wondering what shape issues this kit has over the PM kit. First thing I've noticed is the lack of flare out from the inner nacelles to the wing root on the HB kit, whereas the PM kit has this feature. Which is right as I've found plans on the net that show both a straight leading edge and a flare leading to the wing root. Overall though, I'm favouring the Hobbycraft kits at present. Any thoughts? Best regards; Steve
  8. That's the one! Broplan. I picked mine up from a shop in Sweden as I couldn't find one here in the UK. Looks like a nice kit in the pack, although where else can you get a 1/72 Navajo from? I'm toying with the idea of building G-NUMA with mine. Best regards; Steve
  9. Hi Benoit; I don't think that I got refunded, however, please do keep my deposit for when you decide to tackle this project again some time. I don't expect to ever see a 1/32 Blenheim from a mainstream manufacturer, so maybe one day from Aviareplica? Sorry to hear that moving, work and the project took it's toll. I know how that can be. Take time to re-balance. I do hope that you succeed with your vision one day. Best regards; Steve
  10. Another vote for Hannants. I've bought loads of empty tins from them in the past I think they are listed on the website. Best regards; Steve
  11. If you feel the urge, those old paints are still out there to be had, and 99% of all the tins I have bought have been unused. There is nothing like cracking open an old tin for the first time in 40+ years and catching a whiff of that old, familiar smell. It's like a time machine that whisks you back to the days of Britfix Liquid Poly 70, PAM News and Alan Hall conversions. I've never been able to make the switch to acrylics. I'm too much of a dinosaur that's stuck in the past and I'm just glad that I have a big enough stash of old enamels to last a lifetime. But my thing is what I would call retro-modelling. Old kits, old paints and anything I slapped together in my childhood. Best regards; ~Steve
  12. Same here! Just old enough to remember the 70's incarnations of Humbrol Authentics. Superb paints especially if using a hairy stick. Just the reason why that I trawl the likes of eBay picking up as many old paints that I can, mostly un-used ex shop stock. Now have a huge collection of Humbrol Authentics, Airfix, Compucolour and Gloy paints that I use regularly. I really like Gloy too. Cover very nicely and smell gorgeous! Never ceases to amaze me how well some of these paints perform considering that most I have are around 40 years old! Best regards; Steve
  13. I love the little Airfix Piper Cherokee Arrow. Nice little kit, but pricey second hand. Islander is good too. I also picked up a Piper Navajo recently, but it is vac form but with injection parts. Looks nice in the packet. What about the Airfix Chipmunk? Also, wasn't there a Ceesna 172 on the way? Might not have been 1/72 though.. Best regards; Steve
  14. I understand that a P-51D may suit the market better, but a P-51B would have got my money. And as for that 1/32 Dornier 17Z. I've given up now. Time to scratch build instead. Best regards; Steve
  15. Absolutely John! Why poor old Claude Dornier's slim line aircraft with a number somewhere between 16 and 18 is still being ignored is beyond me! Come on Revell, my He-111 and Ju-88 are getting lonely! Best regards; Steve
  16. Kind of looks like the aftermath of a formation of Sopwith Triplanes in line astern having just crashed on Southend Pier.... Best regards; Steve
  17. Don't know how I forgot to mention the missing 1/32 Dornier 17Z!! Anyone who lurks over on the LSP forum will know I have been banging on about a 1/32 17Z to the point of being boring! Surely someone is going to tackle this eventually? Best regards; Steve
  18. ...And there's me having just forked out for the Czech Masters kit. This RS one does look nice though.. Best regards; Steve
  19. I'm just as guilty of picking out "howlers" in war films and I have to bite my geek tongue if I'm watching a film with the wife. However, I've never really got those who take great delight in pointing out that the "109s" and "He 111s" in the Battle of Britain film are in fact Spanish, Merlin engined Hispanos and CASAs. I know that, of course I do, but I had one guy once go as far to say that it ruined the film for him. Really? I've always thought that the effort that went into assembling aircraft as close as possible for the role, down mostly to Hamish McHadddie of course, was a breathtaking feat of acquisition. I'm sure those that have read Leonard Mosley's book on the film will know just how much work went into acquiring the Spanish aircraft alone. It produced a spectacle that surely could never be repeated. ....Just don't get me started on the film "From Hell to Victory" !! Best regards; Steve
  20. Still waiting for that 1/32 Do-17z. My Ju-88 and He-111 are getting lonely.... Best regards; Steve
  21. This actually looks like a 1/32 build! Superb photography and a beautiful build and finish. I love it! Best regards; Steve
  22. Ooooo! I'd love one of these..but at what price I wonder? £400 - £500? I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure. Best regards; Steve
  23. ...I might have a spare original 73 catalogue somewhere... Best regards; Steve
  24. ...Or it could be a 1/24 AEW Shackleton, a 1/48 Bf-110 and a 1/144 Pr XIX! Seriously though, if Airfix brought out a 1/24 Spitfire PR XIX, I would buy at least three or four. So many conversion possibilites!! ..What I really yearn for though is a 1/24 Spit XIV lowback Best regards; Steve
  25. Thanks Chris! I'll have to look at some plans for that one. Imagine I'll have to lose some of the ribbed detail in some areas then. Best regards; Steve
