  1. Hi! Not sure if this has been posted before (I did try a search first) I don't have any experience with this brand, but the announcement of a CASA 2.111 B/D conversion set in 1/32, 1/48, 1/72 and 1/144 from Mulberry Scale Kits certainly got my attention. Apparently the release date is for sometime later this summer. Rather excited about this and I feel a buying spree of ICM He 111s coming on. Seems they have an eBay shop and a Facebook page for those that use it.
  2. Pre-ordered the Washington and now I've just gone and pre-ordered the B-29A just because I like the Thumper scheme. Like I need any more kits. Sheesh! Haven't had a 1/72 B-29 since my dad built me the Airfix kit way back in 1976, so I'm looking forward to this one. Maybe this time it won't be used to bomb my HO/OO Japanese infantry or suffer countless crash landings on my bedroom carpet battlefields. Or maybe it will 🤔
  3. Just had a RAF A400 and a RCAF C-130J pass over Weston Super Mare.
  4. I'm still hoping for that 1/24 P-51B. After all, the 1/32 Devastator finally appeared after what feels like decades. Maybe there's still hope. If it's sans the problems of the 1/32 P-51B, I'd happily pick up a couple. Trumpeter are a bit of an enigma. There can be forthcoming kits in their catalogue that never seem to materialise (such as the 1/24 P-51B) and yet, something like the 1/24 Ju 87A seemingly appears out of nowhere. I don't ever seem to recall seeing that kit in a catalogue prior to release. It just seemed to magically appear on the shelves. I'm jolly grateful of that one though.
  5. £40 pre-order from the Big H seems very reasonable for such a big lump of plastic. I may have to buy one.
  6. That thing looks like the result of a mid air collision between a Cunliffe-Owen OA-1 and a Bloch MB 200. Because of that, this will be on my to buy list. If it's French and ugly I want it in the collection. Big thumbs up to MikroMir.
  7. Those two low passes over Beachy Head are pretty cool too. Bob's videos are always good. Think I've watched all of them now.
  8. You got me all misty eyed there. First airshow I went to was the Great Warbirds Air Display at West Malling in 1983. As I was just shy of my 14th birthday that Sept, the price of admission was £1.00. It was £3.50 for an adult. My paper round wages was £4.00 a week then, so I had £3.00 left over for a program and a couple of cheap kits from the stalls there that day. Happy days! After years of searching, I finally found the poster. This particular one flew back to Duxford with it's owner on Sally B.
  9. US Marine Corps KC-130J (OTIS81) heading south west high over Weston Super Mare. Not something we see very often in this part of the world.
  10. Very nice! But there's me having not long paid through the nose for the Special Hobby kit! What's the availability of AMG kits? It's not a brand I've bought before.
  11. Can't say I'm bothered about the scale as I build anything as long as the subject is right and a Kate is very right! But crikey! An Akagi carrier bridge and flight deck as a base? Wow! That would be some display but surely huge. What a centre piece that would be.
  12. Same here. I'm still suffering cold turkey as a result.
  13. @SafetyDad @dov Many thanks for the replies. I'll make sure I pick up a copy of that MBV book as it will come in very useful by the sound of it. I'm back dating the Airfix kit to an E-1, so the auxiliary panel wouldn't be present giving bit more of a view of that area. However, I did just stumble across one really good photo buried deep in a modelling blog that does answer a few of my question. The brake lines appear to disappear into grommets in the floor just behind the pedals...so that helps. The rest of it probably won't be seen too well so I can probably relax! Cheers! Steve
  14. Hi all; Just wondering if anyone can help me find a good diagram or photo of the area behind the rudder pedals on a Bf 109E. I'm currently scratch building the pedals, rudder bar and trying to do the details behind the pedals for the Airfix 1/24 kit. I've got plenty of 109E reference books, but none of the photos or even factory diagrams I have in these books show the area clearly enough. I'm looking for details of where the brake lines run to from the pedals (they look to disappear into the floor somewhere and any other details that may be present in this area. I've tried Googling too, but just seem to pull up loads of photos of 1/48 replacement cockpit parts that don't help either. Big ask I know, but I thought I would throw it out there. Thanks in advance! Cheers; Steve
  15. Nice to have this confirmed. I was watching a Shizuoka walk around video on Youtube last night and spotted the 1/48 K2 parked next to their Lancaster somewhere on the trade stand. Great news indeed and I'll certainly have a couple. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Tamiya decide to do a Dodge WC54 ambulance in 1/48 off the back of the K2. It would be very welcome in this scale. @Troy Smith The Austin K2 certainly appeared in many guises. If I remember rightly, they produced a 2 ton and 5 ton version. I owned a 1945 5 ton version many moons ago, although that was designated as a K4. I've seen mixes of standard road wheels and military split rims fitted in photos. My K4 was military spec, but had road wheels fitted. The guy I bought it from also had an ex RAF 2 ton K2 for sale and that had split rims. I bought the K4 as it was in far better shape than the K2. They would be seen on RAF and USAAF bases, but not in the same numbers as other makes of truck from what I've seen. I've seen a photo of one being used on a USAAF airfield as a "base bus", and then there's the Austin NAAFI vans. That would be a fun conversion.
  16. Looking forward to see what you do with this kit Troy. You're braver than me. I chickened out and bought the MPM kit instead.
  17. I think I ran out of superlatives on the last three builds, but once again you've demonstrated that you are a master modeller in the true sense of the word. Superb work once again and it would be great to see all four builds together at some point. Re the flaps: I liked the suggestion over on LSP that you go by the setting of the lever in the cockpit. Hopefully the down position as it would be a shame to hide all that work. P-39 is going to be another winner! (PS: Sorry Peter! I've only just seen your pm!!) Cheers! Steve
  18. I think I just got confused. I read this: "So, for most of the DL and all BO and VE staggered waist blocks this set is not correct anyway, just as they have labelled it too. For the current HK kit variant, unless you want to build a G-45-BO (only block) or a few Vegas, this is correct" and took that as meaning I couldn't use the set for a 35-DL. Then I saw that the set is suitable for up to a 35-DL, so it looks as if I'm covered. Note to self. Don't try and work out B-17 production blocks before the morning coffee!
  19. @vppelt68 Thanks for clarifying what blocks this set will be applicable for. Much appreciated. It's funny, but I asked on a FB B-17 modelling group if the new SBS set would be ok for a Block 35-DL and was told it would be. Seems that's not the case after all. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this sells well for SBS and we see a later block kit. Cheers! Steve
  20. Have HK announced that they intend to do the late version? I hope so as there is a lot of people that want one. I've got the early, but would certainly pick up a late as well.
  21. Just had a chat with SBS about this set. If sales are good enough, a cockpit set will follow. That'll be great as the HK kit could do with a few improvements in that area. Edit: this comment applies to the 1/48 kit.
  22. I think I'm sold on this. Such a great looking aeroplane.
  23. That's one of the things I loved about EGMC. The wild variety of types that used to go through there. Aircraft from obscure African cargo operators (often dodgy), various airliner types in their Autumn years of operations and always lots of warbirds transiting through customs. Several notable things I remember: XL426 circling before her final landing, three B-17s flying in after several low passes together for re-paints at Heavylift for the Memphis Belle movie, a flight of fire bomber Grumman Trackers buzzing around, Doug Arnold's B-17 transiting through prior to going to the US, catching the last few BAF Carvair flights etc, etc. The airport seems very sterile now in comparison. Getting back on topic: Is the Viscount 1/144 scale and how did you find the 26 Decals? Got some myself, but haven't got around to using them yet. Steve
