  1. Thanks, hopefully your attention span lasts as long as my snails pace of construction. The kit itself is a delight, especially coming from the 48th Typhoon from Revell which is a pig in places. The mass of filler is only from my own changes in the name of ‘accuracy’ Many thanks for allowing me to contribute!!
  2. Hello all, With the blessing of the GB admin, I am entering my current build into this GB, the Revell 1/48 F15E, which will be built as a jet involved in Operation Odessey dawn, the US contribution to the Libya conflict. The Revell kit is being added to with 3x GBU-38s, 4x GBU-12s, 2x AMRAMM and 2x AIM-9s, with the decal set from Hypersonic. The aircraft will be depicted as it taxied out of the inspection pit to the runway, which has necessitated some changes to the kit. Firstly, I sourced a pair of figures for the crew and had a bit of work to get them fitted into the cockpit: The second major alteration was to cut the flaps out from the wing, and reposition them as they would be for taxi and take off. This was done with a saw and a liberal application of filler. The third major change was to re-configure the air intake angle. The Revell kit only offers the ability to have the intakes in the fully upright postion, which is only adopted when the engines are shut down. When the engines are running, the intakes drop into varing positions to optimise the airflow speed to the engines. Therefore to replicate thir taxi configuration, I sanded off various corners until I had enough area to get a solid amount of glue into the join, then filled the gaps around the top of the intakes with a combination of some strips of styrene sheet, and filler. The head on shot below shows the impact of this change: Thanks for looking at my progress so far, looking forward to contributing to this GB. Harry
  3. Forgive the rookie question here? What is the policy for joining GBs with kits already started? I have an F15 on the go currently and would love to participate in this GB but I’m unsure if the kit has to be un started to join? Thanks
  4. Thank you, always preferred this scheme to the Battle of Britain scheme they also ran with that year Thanks, hopefully the first of many!
  5. Thank you for the advice, can really see your point comparing the two sets of images
  6. Interesting to see the different background and how it impacts on the view of the model- thank you for your input and look forward to trying these as more builds are finished
  7. Thank you for the feedback, I had another crack at getting some images today and have updated the thread
  8. Thank you for the feedback, have updated the thread with this advice in mind 👍 Thank you, hopefully the first of many on the site
  9. My first RFI on the site...RAF Typhoon in the 2015 Typhoon display scheme from 29(R)sqn. University moving online allowed me the time to crack on with this build and I’m reasonable happy with the final result. The base kit is the Revell 1/48 Typhoon, with the only major additions being those of the decal set and Eduard PE set for the cockpit. I’ve also included a pilot. Any and all comments most appreciated. Thanks for looking. Harry
  10. I’m so so late to this thread but Santa brought me this Phantom with some 1435 decals so I’m rather keen to get the Typhoon off my desk and finished. And this has just been the most entertaining and superbly fun read, all of which leads us to a superbly well finished F4. So I say thank you
  11. In need of advice...I have a spot of canopy fogging on my Revell 1/48 Typhoon. It’s not a huge area but certainly enough to be noticed. Any tips on how to go about saving it? Thank you in advance
  12. Thank you all for these suggestions, all are food for thought, so I shall resume my efforts with all these in mind 🙂
  13. I’m currently having my difficulty with the wing/fuselage joins as well as the airbake. I’m using squadron products white putty, with generous applications allowed to dry for 2+ hours
  14. Hi all, I’m sure for many this is a simple question, but I guess we’ve all gotta ask occasionally. Currently having issues with my Revell 1/48 Typhoon, in that when I’m sanding down the filler, all sorts of gaps/little craters are appearing, an issue which I’m increasingly confident is down to me as I’ve tried at least 3/4 times to achieve something I’m happy with by refilling/resanding . So essentially I’m after some fundamental filling/sanding tips to see if I’m doing something very wrong. Thank you
  15. Having just ordered Revell’s F3, I’m looking to go down the route of making a 1435 QRA example of the Tornado. To that end I have two questions for those more knowledgeable than myself. 1. Are there any decal sets for 1435 Tornados in 1/48? 2. What was the standard QRA weapons load for the F3? Many thanks
  16. Little update from Typhoon land. After some Archibald esq plastic sugery, we have a pilot in the cockpit, with the fuselage halaves now together, ready to continue to be buily up. The air inatake has been filled, sanded and painted, with some dry brushing to add some effect (of sorts) to the white intake trunk. Hopefully the photos play ball this time, and of course, any feedback much appricated.
  17. Lockdown has me back from uni, with vast amounts of time on my hands. So, time to dabble back into the world of modelling for the first time in a few years. This Typhoon has been sat on the shelf for a while, with decals to make the 2015 dispay jet flown by Jonny Dowen from 29sqn. Hopefully shall post this as the kit unfolds, so you can see the trials and tribuations of trying to remember how to do this... Step 1, cockpit and seat, with a first crack with an Eduard Zoom set, with a pilot currently undergoing some hefty plastic sugery
  18. Superb effort given the smaller scale build. I can't help but notice the lack of the white stripe accross the canopy though. Was this intentional as the attention to pick up on the flaps suggests a modeller with an eye for detail? Otherwise excellent work.
