  1. Well, that is magnificent, Peter!  :worthy: You've produced a terrific armour model with some seriously talented modeling skills; I agree with everyone else that your weathering and paintwork are first class.  :clap2:  Everything looks natural, all the stowage is tied down and the whole model has a very real, organic feel to it.    Seeing this one, I'm tempted to try another armour build, thanks for the inspiration, @Farmerboy!  😄

Here it is, I hope you like it....🧐

Francis, that is a marvelous tank model!  :clap2: It's well built and beautifully detailed and weathered.   The roll of fence material on the rear deck is so authentic; a first cousin of mine served in Vietnam, 1968-'69, as an M113 commander, and has told me that they always carried a roll of chain-link fence on their track, and set it up as a perimeter around their vehicle whenever they stopped for long.   Your tank's weathering looks damn close to the pics you provided of the real Pattons in Vietnam in my opinion, well done there as well!

Thanks for sending the link, as I thoroughly enjoyed that project of yours @FrancisGL!

Cheers, and a great weekend to you, sir. 🍻

    Hi Gary,

I searched to see if I could find any photos of my old M41, I thought I had taken one, but if I did, they were lost forever...too bad, it's always a nice reminder for nostalgia.
The closest thing to this in an M48, also from Tamiya, but already from my new stage, which is published in the RFI, if you are interested in seeing it to compare appearance, give me a whistle and I'll give you a link.
Now it is possible that I would have approached it in a somewhat different way, closer to your M41.

    Cheers

    Francis.👍

Francis, I would like to see that M48.   If you'll post a link to that, I would certainly enjoy having a look @FrancisGL.   :)

This is truly an amazing model! Excellent all around. The weathering is superb and really adds to the feel of a tank used in Vietnam with it's red earth and humid climate.

I hope you stick around armourmodeling because you have got some serious skills!

It's great to hear from you again @Maddoxx77!  Thank you very much for those wonderful comments, my friend.  :worthy:  I enjoyed building that model a lot, and found it much more "relaxing" than my typical airplane model build, in which I always seem having to overcome one glaringly obvious glitch or another.   With armor modeling, I feel any issue I encountered could be much easier dealt with, and therefore, more fun in the building!   I think my next victim may be the Tamiya Tiger I that I've had for several years.  :D

Thanks also to @Slackbladder and @Maddoxx77 for leaving your "likes" for my model!

    Cheers all!  🍻

Really nicely done! You've captured the "moment" really well. I particularly like the layers of stowage. It looks as my old man described it. They really were packrats, and anything not tied down anywhere was fair game!   He knew of one set of Sherman rats who even had a dining table and chairs tied on when moving through Holland!

    Regards

    Pete

Quite so Pete!  I've seen wartime photographs of Soviet tanks with footed bath tubs tied on the back!  :D

  5. Thank you Neil! 🍻  I'm glad that you enjoyed it.  :D Yeah, Tamiya definitely missed a lot of details "back in the day" and adding them now does makes a difference, I think.

Really convincing! The vehicle looks hard used without resembling a scrap yard find and your stowage is spot on. It's ALL tied down! Something which often lets down very good models IMO. Good stuff.

    Pete

And thanks to you too, Pete!   What great compliment, sir. :worthy:  Regarding that stowage, a friend on another model forum reminded me somewhere along the build, to remember that all that stuff tanks carried around on them wasn't "just held on by magic".    Something had to tie it all down or it wouldn't stay on there long when moving.    And believe it or not, figuring out just how I was going to secure the stowage and somehow make it look real did take some head scratching.   Sometimes, it's the little things...;)  :D

I extend my sincere thanks to @srkirad, @beefy66, @Toryu, @vytautas and @neilspen for your "likes" for my Bulldog tank!   I appreciate that a lot! :worthy:

    Cheers, Gary
