  2. What would be good size brass tube to simulate the .50cal Gun Barrels and sleeves??
  3. Erik Welcome back, your tuskegee is looking awsome!! My Great Uncle was a Tuskegee Airman. Keep it up.
  4. OK lot of work Today, I decied since im trying some things on this build Ill keep going, I wanted a weatherd stripe look so I researched the salt method and I am about 90% happy with it. I got what I was almost looking for. also I tried highlighting some panels I have een looking at pictures. anyway Im almost done hoepfully decals on Friday Morning and off to my Local IPMS contest at night. here are the pics.
  5. Rich Absolutley Fantastic, I am speechless I will be using your build as a guide, for when I get enough guts o tackle my Tamiyas. I also like your markings. I am starting a personal personal collection of building a kit from each fighter group of the 8th. Im still doing the revell kits,Thanks for the inspiration. Eugene
  6. Mish Thanks alot, I am a WWII History buff, especialy considering my wild Family tree. Ok got some more work done shes buttoned up primered and sprayed, Im not to happy with finish, I micromeshed everything and wiped down good and no fingerprints but here is some weird looking paint areas. I tried Vallejo Model air on this kit vs. Alclad. and Im not happy. anyway im gonna sand down the areas and re spray hopefully this will fix it. Primerd with Tamiya gray Fine, sprayed with Vallejo Model Air Chrome, Exhausts are Alclad Pale burt metalwith brushed Burnt red and Blue. so tell me what you think.
  7. here is some motivation for you, i just completed revell 1/48 Lt. John Gordon P-51D 368th Fighter Squadron 359th Fighter Group East Wretham, England 1944
  8. Ok here is some updates for me. Cockpit is done and weathered along with a new style of wash using watercolors. Wheels,Legs and doors are painted. Just drilling out the Exhaust ports and then shes off to Primer.
  9. Ok started on her, For this build I will being trying to get my colors corect compared to last build. The cockpit will be Interior Green and Wood for the floor versus Green Zinc Chromate, and the Wheel bays will be aluminum with the Yellow Zinc chromate. and I will attempt an Aerial too. I will paint this mustang with Testors Metalizers instead of alclad.
  10. Here is my First P-51 Mustang i just finished, I hope my next is better.. I chose the revell 1/48 P-51D OOB as my skills are no that good so I did not want to wreck a tamiya. The build for me was tough, the plastic was very soft in spots and very thick in others. This is also my first attempt at a metal finish, which was a chore in itself I dont know how many times i had to re spray because of the paint coat peeling up, the green is my own mix of sea blue, medium green, euro I green and a ouch of white. The invasion stripes a absoultey horrible they cracked and disinegrated this morning when I found them after drying over night I tried to re hydrate them but the finish was coming of so I basically said screw it. so I know to use paint next time.I painted with alclad airframe aluminum, model air aluminum, Anyway I Hope you all like this kit from 1977. oh yeah Decals are from aeromaster. Work in Progress here. http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air...howtopic=242768 Lt. John Gordon P-51D 368th Fighter Squadron 359th Fighter Group East Wretham, England 1944
  11. wellzy I still will build my "Strafer" of "Bud" Fortier at a later date. but I opend the box and decied to do another revell before my good ones. I will be doing a 339th FG Mustang, From Lt. Gerard of 503rd squadron the day he became an Ace on an Escort Mission to Grimma, Germany when he shot down 3 Fw 190's an Me 109 and damged another, a month earlier he clamied his first kill and ME 109 on an escort to chemintz. The kit will be OOB of box with homemade decals except for the Checkers.

  17. Greetings I am planning a Project , and I am in need of some WWII RAF airfield help with pictures and set up diagrams. The 2 Airfields are RAF Fowlmere and RAF Martlesham Heath. I am needing the composition of the runways and taxiways as well as a picture of the transition from the taxiway to the active runway. I know there probably isnt any, but I thought I would ask. Thanks in Advance Thunder

  20. Mr. Smih yes I did Thanks for the tip I did find even after the cleaing when I sprayed the black and green some of it had the aluminum paint in there. I let the airbrush soak for like 20min. Do you recomend a good thinner, I used the Testors thinner in the blue bottle. On another note do any of you all know where or have any pictures of RAF Fowlmere or Martlesham Heath from say 1942-46 era I have a project i am working on and the compositions, I know Fowlmere was grass till mid 45 right. And need some pictures of the End of the runway from the taxiway to the active strip and some of the parking area. I have seen one in color but it was the maintnace area of Martlesham heath. If I posted in wrong area can you please post in a good spot, thanks alot. Thunder
  21. looks great, My first aicraft as a Dedicated crew chief was her sister 78-563. great work!! One small builders note, the nose gear door is normally up, unless maintnace is being done, if you wanted to be accurate in other builds.
