Hi This is such an inspiration that I went and got myself the British Vosper MTB to have a dabble at, I must say through the build and now the finish this just left me stunned and amazed. This is a credit to you what a marvellous job you've done on her i'm not a boat man myself but I do own a couple of aircraft carriers oh and now one of these superb MTB's. Clive

Hi all thanks for the interest its certainly a great kit, Joachim thanks for your input but in the plans they tell you to paint and fit the antenna this way and not being a lufty buff I had no idea but it just goes to show the Germans themselves have got it wrong in this case . Clive

Airfix 1/24 Typhoon (I know, another one!)
SHAR67 replied to rainstel109's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
A very nice model indeed sir but may I ask does your Typhoon have this canopy fault upon it ? I have heard that the first batch of Typhoons to be released by Airfix are the bad canopy batch and so this is why I will not get one until they have resolved the problem. Hence the release of the alley cat resin cockpit glass but at extra expense. I once had the privilege of dining with a delightful chap who flew one of these wonderful aircraft and he is the sole reason I will base my model on looks a lovely kit and I can't wait to get mine eventually. Hi Andy I use a thin coat as a marker coat just to take the colour out and form a misty base red then I go over the top with the finish coat which is slightly thicker this usually gives a good coat but if not then use straight from the jar on the third coat as this coat is only going to be a scary coat and cover the minor blemishes. So then 1. use a coat of paint thinned to the consistency of milk 2. Then go over that with paint just a little thicker than the first, if your using the small cup then half fill with paint and add 6 drops of thinner 3. Finally use straight from the jar with just 2 drops of thinner this is the scary coat so just spray over the entire model evenly and look at your result after Hope this helps and for best results spray in day light as you see everything on the model or use a very good daylight bulb to work under. Good luck buddy I'm just a txt away if you need anymore help Clive

Hi Andy I have used gloss red and it goes on pretty good for an acrylic, I used to be the humbrol king a few years ago but a friend of mine introduced me to the world of acrylics and because I have two little ones the atmosphere is a bit more friendly now. As for the rivets I use a thin glue like Tamiya extra thin glue and just lightly run a bit over the rivets this helps to bond them to the model you can even use cellulose thinners this has the same effect, also if you use a few drops of cellulose thinners in your acrylic paint this also helps the paint to bond to the kit. Hope this is of help matey good luck. Clive

Hi Andy not to sure if this has already been said but it might help you out. 1. Mask the model and get the tape firmly down on the kit by using an ear bud to run down the tape, make sure you damp the ear bud otherwise you will collect bum fluff from the ear bud on the edge of the tape. Also use a sharp cocktail stick or a match stick to get the tape into the fine panel lines. 2. Then with the top colour being white in your case spray along the bottom edge of the tape where the red is going to meet the white, leave this for about half hour then lightly start to spray the red I'm assuming your using Tamiya paints or are you using enamels I use Tamiya or other acrylic paints as they're easier to clean off the model if an error occurs. 3. When all is dry I then just to make sure run a new knife blade lightly along the line of tape to stop any lifting of paint due to the tape being removed. 4. If you choose to just lift the tape from the model and then find you've had a couple of leaks then with acrylic paint such as Tamiya all you need to do is get a cocktail stick and just chip it off its as easy as that. Hope this helps you out buddy it looks a great model so far and I'm sure it will look even more impressive when shes done maybe hawkeeper can give her the once over to get her flight cert eh Cheers Clive

Where did you buy it from was it from a store or the net? Looks easy enough to change over to 2.4, it looks like the old Tamiya resistor being used I just converted my old Tamiya 1/10 escort cossie to 2.4. Clive
