  1. Perhaps he would be better off with this one at least he can be found if he has to bail out Liking what you've done so far. Clive
  2. When removing paint I use a cotton bud and some nail polish remover its quick and doesn't harm the plastic, plus you can buy it for a pound in the pound shop just a tip for your future use. Nice little helo I have two of the Apollo sea kings Airfix made some years ago. Clive

  4. Hi folks not to much in the way of progress as I'm getting stuck for ref pic's does anyone know where I may find some of the engine and cockpit. Here's where I'm at with her now still a long way to go but we're getting there. Thanks for your interest till the next time. Clive
  5. How do all just thought i'd show some of the oil tank I painted this first black then used silver rub n buff then a mix of tamiya paints to weather it. Thanks for looking in. Clive
  6. How do folks thanks for your interest, Pagey the wheel bay ceilings are a bit of a bad fit if I may say so. The trouble I've had to get them to this stage was lots of elastic bands and clamps plus a few choice words. The kit in general fits ok in most places superbly in others and the odd few are bad fits the wheel bay ceilings are one of the bad fitting parts as mine were slightly out of sink on one side but came right in the end. Today I've been working on the gun bays and the guns, I've nearly completed one side but it just needs the final touches of paint, here's the starboard gun bat and guns. And this is with the bottom of the wing in place temporarily. Thanks again for your interest. Clive
  7. Hi all I've been saving hard for sometime now for one of those Big! Tiffies and now I have one, yes the Airfix 1/24 Typhoon. I'm hoping I make a great job of her as I'm making this in memory of a wonderful chap I had the pleasure of talking to over lunch some time ago now, he flew these brutes and Mustang P-51B's during the war and some of his tales are scary and brave but a little humour was in amongst the fear. So first up is the seat this was painted with Tamiya paints and a touch of artist oil for a wash. Secondly was the lower wing this to had Tamiya paint and was washed over with artist oil Vandyke Brown. Thirdly was the framing, now for this I tried a new method of painting. I used Tamiya X18 semi gloss black as the first coat then I used warpaints shinning silver and then I thought this looks a bit dull so I then used rub n buff silver and bam she came to life and so this is the result. The Vandyke Brown was also used as a base wash on the framework as well as the wheel bays and cockpit, a little copper and brass was also rubbed in on the oil tank in front of the cockpit. Thanks for stopping by. Clive

  16. How do matey if your using acrylic based paints then try adding a drop of cellulose thinners to the paint, it helps the paint to adhere to the the model. I use this method and I can't say I have ever had this problem, also try putting the masking tape on your forehead this helps take some of the stickiness from the tape hope this helps bud great looking Mirages both of them. Clive
  17. Hi folks This is the guns I've managed to get them done this evening, and the rest is the final touch up to the wheel house. Here I used a brass brush in a drill to get the weathered look on the wood plus it evened out the ripples in the paint on the wood. Thanks for looking in and the comments see you soon ta ta. Clive
  18. Hi all after seeing the MTB that longshanks had finished I decided to go ahead and get the RN version, its the first time I've had a go at boat building. My late uncle served aboard HMS Mauritius and seeing as I had an uncle in the RN I had to give it ago but also the inspiration from Longshanks finished boat inspired me as well. Well here she is and I'm glad I got her and I hope to make a reasonable job of her. This is the wheelhouse I think that's what they call this area. The wood is actual wood its thin veneer and is a pig to work with as it keeps breaking right when you don't need it to but it looks good in my eyes. Hope to have this section finished by the weekend and then onto the guns. Cheers Clive
