  1. Beautiful, simply beautiful! Impressed of Mars 👽
  2. I didn't think there would be many of that type following one of my threads but, given today's litigious society, I thought I should play safe and post a warning. Cautious of Mars 👽
  3. Finished this morning, my Mark1 Models R Class Zeppelin L.45 in the later raiding colour scheme and retro-fitted with the later twin engine rear gondola. Thanks for looking Martian 👽
  4. Right, you were warned. The promised sensible post follows. The R Class L.45 was finished this morning: More pictures in RFI. Thanks for looking. Martian 👽 PS: Mayhem may now resume.
  5. Warning there will be a sensible post later on today. Those of a silly disposition should look away now! Those of a sane disposition probably gave up after the first page of this thread. Elf and Safety of Mars 👽
  6. No wonder that I am on Gag Halfront's waiting list! You mean we go to some other place that apparently does not exist? Stuck in the Naughty Corner with curry wurst and some of CC's rocket fuel: the after effects don't bear thinking about! + = + Worried of Mars 👽
  7. Are you trying to tell us that Columbus was named after a place that apparently does not exist? Seeing as you seem to be living in a country that is non-existent, do you actually exist ? Curios of Mars 👽
  8. So, if we keep sailing westwards across the pond and the USA doesn't actually exist, we fall off the edge of the world? Confused of Mars 👽
  9. Well, given the US reaction last time they thought the Martians were invading, they will probably have long since run for the hills before I get there! 🤮 Martian 👽
  10. Most likely but what we need to know is which wurst has the painting of the Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies by Van Klump hidden in it? Curious of Mars 👽
  11. Thanks Loren. That sort of comment could well get you time off your sentence in the Naughty Corner for good behaviour. Well, it would if you could behave. Non Too Hopeful of Mars 👽
  12. Over the last twenty four hours, I have been working my tentacles to the bone to get the gondolas and associated struts fitted to the three airships. I shall cut straight to the chase and put the pictures of the L.59 Afrika ship up first, if only to keep a certain General of the Imperial General Staff from throwing tantrums. The scheme is interesting in that, two attempts to re-supply General Letow-Vorbeck were made. The first attempt had to be abandoned due to adverse weather conditions but during the flight the Zeppelin was fired upon by Turkish infantry. As a consequence, the German Naval Ensign was painted on the rear of the hull and the Turkish flag on the bow section. I got the ensign from Peddinghaus Decals and am waiting on some Turkish decals to arrive in the post (No, I can't speed that bit up Melchie!). Having got that out of the way, the L.45 had her gondolas and struts attached: The next shot provides a good indication of how much bigger the hull of the L.59 was compared to that of the L.45. Classes R, S, T, U, and V all shared the same size of envelope and the W Class was a stretched version of this. Finally, the Takom kit recieved the same treatment and all three ships are now ready for a final satin coat and rigging. I will add the tail feathers to the L.21 and rig them one at a time in order to minimise the risk of damaging those fragile rudder and elevator skegs. Sorry General but the Afrika ship will probably get done last as I need to get those Turkish flags on the model before she can get her final coat of varnish. In the first picture Nest decided that I was in need of a photographer's assistant. I am now off to start a marathon rigging session and, in the words of Captain Oates, "I may be some time!". Thanks for looking and the usual mayhem may now recommence. Martian 👽
  13. But then they would miss lovely pictures such as this: Or this: Or this: or this: Get the point? Martian 👽
  14. You know the drill by now, Naughty Corner, Quick march @corsaircorp will doubtless be pleased to see you: again. And many who have read a Martian thread before have left wishing that they couldn't read! Martian 👽
  15. Evil, wretched, impatient child! The Afrika ship is getting her gondolas fitted as we speak, along with the L.45 and the L.21. As well as annotating 200+ photographs for the Zeppelin photo library and finalising what I want to put into the book which I need to start writing sooner rather than later. I only have so many tentacles you know. Exasperated of Mars 👽
  16. Well, it's your own silly fault. Firstly you came on BM and then entered a Martian thread with the Usual Suspects in full flow. What on earth did you expect? Me too. Confused of Mars 👽
  17. The Common came after the tennis courts, so I guess the answer is both! Panicked of Mars 👽
  18. That's more associated with tennis and the cricket match didn't last long enough to need the new ball. As for the General's last visit to Wimbledon, the less said about that fiasco the better! Martian 👽
  19. Well he did say he had been walking a bit strangely. Lady M was not available for comment when approached by our action news reporter, you know the one from the famous song, "And we're here at Lords. There seems to have been some disturbance here. Did you see what happened Lady M?".* Thanks for the comments on the Zeppelins. Martian 👽 *|Caption competition: Insert Lady M's reply in the quote box.
  20. OK, typo, I'll hold my tentacle up to that one. Duly corrected, we wouldn't want the dwellers of the far side of the Pond thinking we don't know how many players make up a cricket team do we? Although by the time play was resumed the MCC were down to nine players as a couple were carted off to hospital having gone into severe shock and the Much-Snivelling team were similarly down to nine players with two of their number being admitted to the local infirmary suffering from terminal embarrassment. You would have thought that with the team being drawn entirely from General Melchett's stock of serfs, they would be used to this sort of thing by now. Corrected of Mars 👽
  21. Believe it or not, I have been a busy Martian these last few days and have been mostly chained to the airbrush, getting the paint jobs on the current batch of Zeppelins. First up we have the L.59 (The Afrika Ship): Next the L.35 got painted in the later "Raiding Colours" used by the German Navy from 1917 onwards. I have already done three R Class ships but fancied one in this later scheme. This particular Zepp had a shorter, twin engined rear gondola fitted, replacing the earlier three engined item. the weight saved allowed the ship to reach higher altitudes. Finally, the Takom Qcumber Class, L.21 got decked out in her livery. I have been looking at the Takom instructions and have been increasingly of the opinion that the colour schemes offered are way too busy and don't really match the pictures I have of the real ships. I also looked into why what seems to be represented as streaking on parts of the hull looks so regular. The answer, it transpires, Is that it is not streaking at all. I hasten to add here that I am not referring to the type of streaking that @general melchett was arrested for last summer when he had way too many pangalactic gargle blasters in the members bar at Lords and caused mayhem and no little hysteria when he pranced naked around the pitch, bringing play to a halt during the annual MCC vs The Much-Snivelling-in-the Swamp Fist XI charity match (Cricket for you colonial types). Fortunately, someone managed to bowl him a googly thus disabling his middle wicket and allowing the local constabulary to remove him from proceedings. For the record Lady Melchett refused to post bail for him, saying "they can keep him if they like. As it happened, the Police did not like and released his Generalship back to her custody anyway! No, it turns out that it is a patten woven into some of the fabric panels covering the hull. Why some panels and not others and the point of the patten, I know not. Anyway a stab was made at replicating the effect by first painting the panels in MRP Clear Doped Linen (Variant 2), masking this off and using MRP Medium Sea Grey for the stripes. I don't know why but I had a strong instinct that it was the right colour to use and am quite pleased with the effect. I am currently detail painting the gondolas for all three ships and marking out the structure s of the flying surfaces of the Qcumber Class ship prior to painting them. Thanks for looking. 22. Hang on in there Bill, we are all rooting for you. Sorry you are having such a bad time of things at the moment. Concerned of Mars 👽
