Which modren kits would have GBU-31 JDAMS in 1/48?
yeehah1 replied to yeehah1's topic in Aircraft Modern
10 10 2013 Thanks to everyone for the responses. You've all been a great help. I should point out that it doesn't matter if these are built up and painted or still on the sprue. He needs as close to the full bomb-load as possible so he'll take all comers. Cheers, Liam -
What's the difference between a Hawker Typhoon and Tempest
yeehah1 replied to yeehah1's topic in Aircraft WWII
You mean the P-40 and Cessna 172 *aren't* exactly alike??? I must go and sit down as I have obviously been labouring under a terrible, terrible misconception. Tomorrow, I will sell all my kits, gouge my eyes out and sing a low mediation chant for forgiveness. Other than that, Jennings old bean, thanks for the constructive comments. Ta ta. Thanks to everyone else for their constructive, informative and educational comments. Y'all have been most helpful. Liam -
08 10 2013 I have a feeling I have seen them in a Strike Eagle or Hornet kit, possibly by Revell? Can anyone confirm? If not, then can anyone advise please? A buddy is building a 1/48 B1 and is looking for a full bomb-load. I have two from the Hasegawa Weapons set, but there are only two in the box. So, any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Liam

04 08 2013 Hah, Mike! I am not sure I'm quite that brave. Over to you Nick! I like the idea of the Airfix/Tamiya kit-bash though. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I know zero about the Mozzie but my brother had seen that tv programme about the plane that saved Britain ( I had thought that would have been the Spitfire or Hurricane) and loved the Mozzie. Liam

10 06 2013 Hi Steve, Thanks for that. Which would be good for a 1970s Honda 50? With the seat extended back over the rear wheel? I have checked a few sites and they all have the Fujimi kit as 'backordered.' No sign of the other two brands. Could you point me in the general direction of a place that might have them? Liam

09 06 2013 Didn't know where else to put this but I am looking for one or two kits of the old Honda 50 as seen here: http://www.iftn.ie/news/?act1=record&aid=73&rid=4283941&tpl=archnews&only=1 I am not a bike nut but would like a kit of this icon (!) just for a change of pace. Was it ever kitted? Thanks in advance Liam

New Star Trek episodes you may not have seen
yeehah1 replied to roymattblack's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
'In the Pale Moonlight' has to rate as one the best Trek stories ever. It is basically Sisko, a man of principle, selling out those principles in order to trick the Romulans into the Dominion War. The hook is that both the audience and Sisko know that without the Romulans, the Federation and the Klingons will lose the war so while you deplore what is happening you understand why. It's very very clever. No real problem with Voyager but, like the other shows, took a season or two to get into the flow. Had some really good episodes, usually the two-parters, like the one with the alien ship whose captain was altering time to , I think, change events to prevent the death of his wife/family, yet each change he made altered the fate of his civilisation as key moments changed as well. Voyager somehow remained outside this time-effect and was constantly persued by the alien ship which hammered the crap out of it...was it 'Year in Hell'? Then there was the one with the hunter-race who used the Voyager crew as 'game' in simulations on the holodeck...killing them and then having the Doc. revive them so that they could be killed again. And then there was 'Scorpion' which, I think, brought the Borg into the Voyager story ( and Seven of Nine) and kicked Voyager up a gear or two. There was an episode as well that had Voyager trapped in the gravity well of a planet where time moved at an accelerated rate compared to Voyager...civilisations came and went for the couple of days she was trapped there....and this civilisation sent a single person to Voyager to try and tell them their presence was causing great adverse climatic conditions...yet for every minute they spent on the ship, something like a year went by on the planet...terrific idea. Sci-fi is not always about blowing things up. Next Generation was hampered by the Hollywood writers strike. They were forced to recycle old and unused scripts. Once the Season 3 / 4 came around ( and especially once we got the Borg involved) things took off. DS9 was, likewise, slow to find it's identity and voice within the Star Trek universe and again, it was the entire Dominion Arc that proved it's worth. Classic Trek with epic space battles...fx just got better and better...I remember sequences with massed Federation ships diving through massed Jem'Hadar fleets...would look epic on the big-screen...and for once, they realised that ships, in space, can move on a full 360 degree axis.... Enterprise was a lost opportunity that came off the rails first with the Time-War story ( too long) and then that story arc that lasted the entire season....waaaaaay too long. It had its moments...T'Pol in the decontamination room....nice ship design but it felt like it was holding back. I had thought they'd have been better picking up the Titan storyline from the books: head into the Romulan territory and expand on them like they did with Klingon culture...and then have Sisko's deceit discovered....hmmmm or jump forward 50 or 60 years again..new crew, new federation , new ship... Might be time for a new show.. Liam -
