  1. 28.10.2017 Good Afternoon All, I have a quick question about the Italeri 1.48 SBD 5 Dauntless kit. I know this is the Accurate Miniatures kit but I am not sure about how to install part 76B. Instructions seem to suggest it sits on top of the raised piece in the rear cockpit behind the pilots' seat but it looks odd. Can anyone confirm this or have a picture of it assembled just by way of example please? Also, could someone please show how you are supposed to assemble the flaps in an open/semi-deployed position. I can't make sense of how to put them together Thanks in advance Liam
  2. Thank you guys, very much appreciated Liam
  3. 25 10 2017 Hi everyone. I recently came across a picture on facebook of a P-51D Mustang called 'Is this trip necessary?' of, I think, the 72nd Fighter Squadron. Does anyone know if there are any decals out there for this ship or where I might find a side profile so that I might have a crack at making it? Thanks in advance Liam
  4. 20 10 2017 Hi Guys. I haven't posted here for a while but I just saw an on-line model shop advertising the Kinetic 1/48 T-Harrier (as they call it). You can apparently make the T2/T2A/T2N/T4/T4N/T8 . My question is ... is it any good?? Thanks in advance Liam
  5. 31 12 2016 Hi guys. I have a Badger 150 newly bought to replace my old Badger 150 that finally died on me. I have heard a lot about ultrasound/sonic brush cleaners so I was wondering if anyone would care to make a recommendation on these and advise where these might be purchased? Also, when cleaning the airbrush is there a tool that can be used to clean the barrel/body of the brush once the needle has been removed? Any idea where I can get Badger 122 Regdab? Sorry for the questions but looking for advise to better care for the air-brush Liam
  6. Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for. Even the 1/144 scale X-Wing looks good! Liam
  7. 16 12 2016 Are there any side-by-side size comparisons of the 1/48 and 1/72 X-Wings? I am thinking of getting some but would like an idea of scale. Thanks in advance Liam
  8. Thank you Jure. I'll pop it into the P-38M then. Liam
  9. 30 10 2016 Hi Guys Can the Brassin 1/48 resin turbochargers for the P-38J and air intakes be used for either the E or M models? I recently bought two sets of these as I mistakenly thought I had two P-38J kits but apparently... I do not Sooo, can they be used in the other kits? Kindest regards and thanks in advance. Liam
  10. 23 10 2016 Hi Guys: Following on from an earlier query regarding Dauntless seatbelts I ordered a seat of seatbelts from Eduard and began the process of putting them together. I can't seem to find definitive evidence on what type of harness was used in the SBD-5 for the pilot. Some pictures show the shoulder straps as separate entities and others show the shoulder straps as joined at the top like an upside-down V (sorry, don't know the actual name of the two types). I'm making two Dauntless 5's that flew with two different Latin American Air Forces so I am guessing they were late models. Can anyone confirm for me which type I should use or does it matter ? Thanks in advance Liam
  11. Thanks guys! Appreciated! Liam
  12. 22 09 2016 Hi Guys, A quick question: what type of seat belts/harness would be suitable for a 1/48 Dauntless SDB-5? Thanks in advance Liam
  13. 25 05 2016 Ok. This is such a long-shot it belongs in another galaxy. A friend of mine drives a Mitsubishi FTO GP R (post face-lift) version. I would like to build her a model to represent her car but can only find a pre-facelift FTO GS kit and the GPX FTO neither of which are what I need. I guess what I am looking for is advice on how I can convert or kit-bash these kits to make the version I need. Is it even possible? I was kind of hopeful that someone like Jimmy Flintstone in America would make a resin shell that would pop over the kit's chasis. Or perhaps there's an article that someone can link me to or send on to me please? Any help greatly appreciated. Liam
  14. 21 05 2016 Hi guys, A friend of mine has asked me to model this Lancaster as she currently is configured having seen her a few years ago. I have sourced the decals from Kitsworld but it looks like she has a non-standard upper turret and tyres with a tread pattern. I know she's based in Canada and I seem to recall there's something with the exhausts as well? I intend to use the Revell 1/72 kit for this ( as I have four of them). Any advice, hints, advice etc greatly appreciated. Liam
  15. 17 05 2016 Hi James. Thanks for your reply. I have the Monogram 1/48 DC-3 Eastern Airlines kit and the Eduard 1/48 Hellcat MkI/Mk II dual combo boxing so I compared their propellor hubs with the Italeri SBD-5 propeller. Results below: I haven't got a spare propeller for an F4U-1A but looking at my built kits that might be the way to go. The Italeri prop looks so small and anemic. I'll check out the Ultracast unit and see how I go from here. Liam
  16. 17 05 2016 Hi Guys I need some help on a modelling project I am undertaking. I am making two SDB-5 Dauntless aircraft using Aztec Models 48-040 Latin Banshees sheet. For the aircraft themselves I am using the Italeri Dauntless -5 and the Accurate Miniatures -3. I am converting the -3 into a -5 and I have hit a problem with the propeller. The sheet features aircraft with the following propeller: The propeller in the SDB-3 kit looks like this: It has no hub. Online I have seen a modeller covert this prop into the correct one by using the hub of another propeller - I think- from an F6F Wildcat maybe? There was no explanation of how he had done the conversion only a picture to show the result and I can longer find the webpage that carried the story. Okay. Can anyone suggest how I might convert this propeller in order that I might complete the project please? I intend to make the Casper the Ghost option featured in the picture above and the option number 2 on the sheet which features a Mexican Air Force machine in bare metal but with an olive drab wing and a blue stripe along the fuselage. Any help would be greatly appreciated Liam
  17. 06 05 2016 Quick question: is this a new tool? http://www.airfix.com/uk-en/hawker-hurricane-mk-1-1-48.html edit: just to clarify: recessed panel lines or raised? Thanks in advance Liam
  18. 03 05 2016 Can I ask where you got the kit from? Can't seem to find it online Liam
  19. 01 05 2016 Hey Troy Yes, for the Fly kit but also for the old Revell IIc. I was thinking of building the two at the same time. I reckon that the Fly kit's undercarriage would be decent but metal legs are always lovely and would take the weight of the kit better over time. I couldn't find any myself but was hoping someone more knowledgeable might know of someone/a company that might have them. No worries and thanks for the help Liam
  20. 30 04 2016 Does anyone know if there exists aftermarket landing gear for 1/32 Hurricane? Was hoping for metal gear but can't find any on Scale Aircraft Conversions? Any help gratefully accepted. Liam
  21. 27 04 2016 Hi guys. I just bought the Fly Models Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc and am buying aftermarket to do this kit up a bit. (reminds me so much of a Matchbox kit). My question is about the wing cannons. There are two aftermarket sets available: one has 'flat' coils and the other has 'round' coils or springs.... My question would be : what set should I get? Or does it matter? Liam
  22. 17 01 2016 Hi Guys I don't normally do ships but a friend has asked me to see if the following kit could still be had: Revell USS Lexington aircraft carrier, H-444 from 1975. I think it's 1/500 scale. http://oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=16952 Anyhelp greatly appreciated Liam
  23. 31 12 2015 Hi guys, just a paint query really. I'm just about ready to paint this kit but I have a question about the deck area behind the pilot's seat that's beneath the canopy when it's closed. What color is this area? Do you paint it the same color as the fuselage or the same color as the cockpit? Thanks in advance Liam
  24. 31 08 2015 Hey scotthldr Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it. I don't remember where I got the info from but I have written on the sheet 'Bu 86-0244' Heh. Cheers Liam
