  1. 14-07-07 Thanking you, sounds good. Liam
  2. 14-07-07 I bought a bottle of Humbrol Clearfix from a hobby shop that used to sell model kits awhile ago. Is this the stuff they used to use to put "glass" in the old airfix civil airliner kits? If so, what's the best way to apply it? Thanking you in advance Liam
  3. 14-07-07 Anyone know where i might be able to get my hands on a few of these sets? http://www.coopersmodels.com/catalog/item/...903/2018138.htm I have a few Connies to build, at least one in Aer Lingus markings. Thanks in advance Liam
  4. 14-07-07 The blondie controller at the end of hte first video is a real cutie! Liam
  5. 06-07-07 Looking at the The Little-Cars shop page, there are a number of wires for sale that obviously would suit 1/48 WW2 brakes lines etc... the measurements run : 0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm. Which would you recommend? Also, what is "detailing briad"? Thanks in advance Liam
  6. 06-07-07 Speaking of which, I was scrolling through their web site and came across this.... Small Shop: Nutter: The Nutter - Makes punch and die sets redundant: £65.00 What is this? Any pics? (maybe a little fella in Doc Martins, jeans with a crew-cut who beans you unexpected-like?) Just wondering. And is it still possible to get a punch and die set? Liam
  7. 05-07-07 Hey there. Again, thanks for the very kind words. The kit is Hasegawa's 1/48 Hurricane IIc JT51..apparently no longer in production. Wife, who is Japanese, recently tried to get it from Japan for me when she visited home. Couldn't get it. I got this one from America of all places. The exhaust staining was done by very lightly spraying a mix of white and any medium grey with an airbrush. Once that had dried, I went over it with Tamiya Smoke, again using hte airbrush. This has to built in layers, fading it off the further you get away from the stacks... Rmember to allow a little of the white/grey to peek through, especially around the "edges" of the staining, and make it heavier closer in to the stacks. Gosh, I almost sound like I know what I am doing! Mungo1974: Been there, done that...no pics of hte most recent one I built, but found that, for me, the closest color to that sick grey-green is Lifecolor acrylics FS34227 / ua060 aka RLM99 Green. Close enough to go..especially when you compare to the Tr.IX 161 that was flying around these past two years..although I believe she has been repainted in Belgian markings now.... Liam
  8. 04-07-07 Thank you for the kind words. I am delighted wit h how this came out...wish the pics were better, but she looks used, but not weather-beaten. They were a bit special, alright.... Liam
  9. 04-07-07 Here we go: The Irish Air Corps took delivery of 6 Hurricane IIc's in March 1945 from surplus RAF stock. They were possibly meant to form the core of a second squadron and were the last batch of aircraft delivered to the Air Corps before the end of the Second World War. 12 Seafires were ordered in '46 and delivered in '47 which saw the Hurricanes withdrawn from use by the end of 1947. 10. 04-07-07 I get red x's Drat Liam
  11. 03-07-07 Lovely. I don;t suppose there's an online build up or anything? Lovley build by the by. Liam
  12. 03-07-07 Amm, when you guys detail the wheel bays and so on, what size wire or tubing do you use when you add brake lines to the likes of Hurricanes and Spitfires, and could it apply across to other WW2 vintage planes? Talking 1/48 and 1/32 Thanks in advance Liam
  13. 03-07-07 Thank you guys, I appreciate the kind words. Currently finishing an Irish Air Corps Hurricane IIc...all she needs is the antennea. I;ll post a pic when done. Liam
  14. 03-07-07 Thanks Phil, they do. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of wires and tubing on shsow or is that just cos you didn't put them in? It's one thing i am worried about, afterall, I am building it in 1/32 and I think there is an expectation that "stuff" would be included. Anyways, thanking you. Liam
  15. 03-07-07 As I am a relative newcomer to this forum, I thought it was time to show a few of my builds...some of you may have already seen these.. one of my earlier builds.... love the Dog! A what-if'er Airix Lanc...loads o'resin Can't find my Lightning anywhere. Oh well.... Liam
  16. 03-07-07 Ok...I am about to make a 1/32 DB-605A engine for a Me-109-6G. I would like to detail it a wee bit and would also like some advise on just how to paint it up... Has anyone on this board built one? I am using hte 1/32 Aires set.. I would to see a build-up article and maybe talk about what goes where cable wise...painting and maybe some weathering advise..first time doing an engine that will be viewed. Thanks inadvance guys.. Liam
  17. 23-06-07 KiwiSteve: Would ebay be of help in finding a British Phantom? Or, if there;s a British address you could ship to, ask Bill Clark..he owns and runs a hobby shop...he might be able to get you the Revell Phantom, 1/48, FGR Mk2, 04588. It's a rebox of hte Hasegawa kit with some lovely markings. Love the sludge wash, Phil. Liam
  18. 23-06-07 Thanks man. I have taken a quick look at the links and have two questions. 1) In the link to thge interior pic, on the right of the pic there;s a rack of some sort with what looks to be containers or something. Any idea what they are? 2) Looking at pics presented, I notice that on some you can see the ribbing and stuff on some and on others, the interior walls seem to be smooth, as if panelling has been applied. What's the story with this? Any idea? And thanks again, those pics are a great boone Liam
  19. 22-06-07 Anyone know where I can get some good reference for the interior of a Hudson? And the landing gear while i am at it. Thanks in advance Liam
  20. 20-06-07 Hi guys I have a problem for you that I hope someone might be able to help me with. I want to build a Lysander II for an Irish Air Corps machine. It used a Perseus engine, but as far as I can tell, there isn;t a resin detailed engine out there in aftermarket. I know that the Skua used one and that Special Hobby have released a 1/48 Skua. Could anyone out there who does resin casting please make me a copy? I could buy the kit, i know, but then I's still ahve one kit without an engine. I would be willing to pay, of course, a reasonable amount, and,as I have 2 Hawk Lysanders and 1 Italeri kit, if it would make it more cost effective, I would pay for three castings. Would anyone be interested or able to help? Thanks in advance Liam
  21. Is that grey stuff all filler? WOW! You filled it all up, rescribed and then got rid of the excess? Liam
