  1. Thanks smeds, that's perfect. Did they/do they use the LAU-7's? I have,as I mentioned in my earlier post, rails and pylons and it would be nice to use at least the pylons but the bird I'll be doing is 74 Sqdn with the tiger head on the tail from 1997. Can you tell me if the pylon was straight or was it at an angle? Daft question, I know, but thought I'd ask anyways. Liam
  2. 08 10 2011 Hi Guys A quick question: I bought the Model Works LAU-7 rails and pylons ( I think the pylons are meant to be on the Hawk but were not moulded in the Revell 1/32 kit). I vaguely recall a conversation about the pylons that suggested they are meant to be inboard?? Maybe? Can anyone advise how and where I should fit the rails and pylons to the kit please? Photos would be a great help. Thanks in advance Liam
  3. 07 08 11 Paul I am trying to email you a set a custom decals i would like you to print for me but am having problems with the address. I t looks incomplete and the software won't send it. Can you confirm your full email address for me please? Thanks in advance Liam
  4. 06 08 11 I should be able to manage that. Let me check and then I'll send you on the file. Liam
  5. 05 08 11 Hi Paul I have a set of custom decals I need done up. I have designed them in Illustrator .ai format if that's any use. Would you be able to do them up for me please? Thanks in advance Liam ps, I did send a pm, but in case you didn't recieve it.
  6. 04 08 11 You'd need a good graphics editing/drawing program such as Illustrator or CAD as the artwork (I believe) should be vector-based art...give nice crisp lines when printed and can be scaled without loosing sharpness. They can be quite expensive but you can usually download 30-day trial versions or if you are a student and can verify it, you can buy the full programme for massive discounts. Then it comes down to what you want to do and how. Of course, you need to scale the markings to your project ... and i did mine more by trial and error than any proper professional method, but I double checked these by printing out on regular paper and cutting the markings out and lining them up on the kits. They worked fine. Just need ot get them printed as proper decals. Liam
  7. 04 08 11 Dear Britmodellers: I have a set of custom decals I need printed for two projects: one a 1/24th car and the other kill markings for a What-If A-10C. I need two sheets printed and they'd need a size no greater than what you might typically get from aftermarket suppliers. File format is Illustrator .ai ( version 8, sorry could never afford to updrade!). Could also supply in jpeg or tiff. Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance Liam
  8. 01 08 11 Would this be suitable for 74 Squadron T.1A with the Tiger head on the tail? It looks like a nice set and the wife is looking to get a nice pressie for my birthday. Can be seen here: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED32277 I ask as in the photos I am using as reference I can't make out the the plates around the tail etc. Thanks in advance Liam
  9. 28 07 11 Does anyone do a replacement canopy for this kit? Kit number is 708. I have had a look on Hananants and Squadron but don't see anything. Thanks in advance Liam.
  10. 26 07 11 It looks lovely but what happened to the nose around the cockpit? Liam
  11. 22 07 11 As promised, here's the photos: Liam
  12. 22 07 11 Thanks XVTonker, that would be great. You could post them here in this thread...might as well share the love. But if you want to you can pm them to me as well. Thanks for the generous offer, much appreciated. Liam
  13. 21 07 11 Thanks guys. Gorgio: It's RU. I must've looked wrong at the photo. So, these are not used as tankers then but as transports, Navy wise? Liam
  14. 20 07 11 Hi guys. I am hoping you can be of help. I am looking to build a KC-130 belonging to the USN and would like to know which kit I would use and if there is a conversion avialable out there for it? A mate would like a kit of this and dropped me down two photos of KC's that touched down here in Shannon a little while ago. I'll post them tomorrow, but one has the tail code of AU/5350 and the other is JW/5348. Would I be right in thinking that these are K models? My main concern though is the decals to go with them. I did a search on Hananants but only turned up one or two Herc kits and yes, there are a number of them on ebay, but which should I be looking at? Thanks in advance Liam
  15. My mistake on that. I was thinking of another kit and for some reason Italeri came to mind. Once I figure out how to edit the topic header, I will do so. I'll go with Giorgio's suggestions as I would like to build this kit. Liam
  16. 18 07 11 Whille looking for another kit, I found this in the stash...Testors/Fujimi 1/48 F-14A Tomcat 'Black Bunny'. Can anyone advise on how good/bad/awful this kit is? Forgot I had it but now that I found it, I may as well build it!! Thinking of putting a resin cockpit in it...or doing a cockpit shuffle...take one from one of my Academy 'Cats and put it in the Testor 'Cat and drop the resin cockpit in the Academy 'Cat. Still with me?? Cheers. Liam
  17. 18 07 11 Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply. I betcha' that was a surprise alright! Thanks for that. I'll take a look and see where it goes from there. As I said elsewhere, I am planning on using the cowling from the Hawk Lysander (1/48) and maybe see if I can use the cowl flaps from the Magna resin cowling. I didn't realise it, but the Italeri mk3 Lysander gives the 'bumps' for the cowling as seperate pieces. Hmmmmm, might come in verrry handy, that. Liam
  18. 17 07 11 SteveNZ Holy Thread Resurrection! Can you remember the article you saw in the Meccano Magazine about the Miles Master II? I am considering doing one of these in 1/48 using the Magna Models kit but would like to replace the engine and cowling as they are moldedas one unit. Anything you may have come across ( drawings, three-views etc) would be helpful. Thanks in advance Liam
  19. 17 07 11 Thanks guys, much appreciated. I can't find a detail set that would give a cowling though, but the Lysander cowling seems to be close. Might adapt it. Liam
  20. 16 07 11 Just wondering if anyone knows where I might this. I know the type was used on Galidators but it was also used on Miles M19 Master II's. I have a resin Master II but was thinking of replacing the resin engine bits as the engine and cowling are molded as one piece. I seem to remember there are one or two compnaies who specialise in engines and such and one company who specialise in British engines. Can anyone help please? Even if there was another type that used this powerplant and there's a resin detail set for it, I'd consider it. Thanks in advance Liam
  21. 15 07 11 Hi Giorgio, Ammm, what if I get 'A' nozzles and stick them on the back? I had thought the Italeri Super Tomcat was more of an A anyways. Liam
  22. 15 07 11 It's kit number 839 Italeri F-14B 'Super' Tomcat. Can it built as a F-14 A? Liam
  23. 15 07 11 You're gonna need a bigger house...to paraphrase a certain movie. I took part in the Tomcat Sunset GB over on ARC a few years ago....they wanted one 1/48 Tomcat to represent every squadron that flew them....they needed a big room to display them ( it was displayed in the States, was meant to be Permanent but not sure if it is still in situ) Good luck with it. There's loads of variety out there, nice kits, tons of aftermarket both in decals and resin etc. Don't be afriad of the Academy Tomcat...a bit of scribing on the forward fuselage and an adjustment to the nose goes a long way. (I seem to recall that there was a resin replacement produced by someone for the Academy nose but not sure if it's still avialable). However run very far away, very fast, from the Academy decals. You'd be better off sticking cardboard down on the kit, they're that thick. I thought the Hobbyboss kit was a good one? The Hase 'Cat can be a complicated build. And don't forget the Monogram bird...raised panel lines surely but a lovely kit when built up with a bit of TLC. And nowhere near as dear as the Hasegawa bird ( which are only getting dearer!!) Best of luck with the build. Liam
  24. 14 07 11 A lovely idea which I do agree with. But there is a lot of fun to had as we anticipate it's arrival. I am not slagging it off...I'll wait until I have the plastic in hand first. I just think it's great that there's a new 1/48 Hurri Mk 1 out there that will sit nicely with the Airfix mk1 Spitfire. I like the idea Italeri gave us pics of the mold but I do hope it's good quality, fits well and has good accuracy. If not, well, we ARE modellers. And as my birthday is in August, well, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me..... Liam
  25. 11 07 11 Looks interesting...comes with photo-etch and color booklet. http://www.italeri.com/NewsImgs/DOC_NEWS_000083.pdf And the 1/72 Sunderland looks potentially nice as well. Liam
