Hello all, just got round to putting this on as a few people were interested in how i made the 'smoke'. Cant take all the credit as i got the idea from a video on you tube. I didnt take many pics of the build as it was quick and straight forward. Hope people get some new ideas!! It went together really well with little to no modification or fit problems. I did paint all the wheels before putting the skirts on though!! At the time is was using Humrol enamel paints and didnt feel the need to undercoat. I admit it was a gamble but it worked. During the pre shading, i used the edge of a piece of paper to mask, again it worked well and saved me time. I did add a little detail as it looked better. This build wasnt really about accuracy and scale it was more to experiment so dont thrash me lol. Once i had pre shaded, i then started applying thinned down coats with the air brush and just went over and over untill i was happy. You can still see the white paper protecting the tracks which worked well. I used some oil wash (raw umber) again as a trial as i felt black looked to dark. After the wash!! I did spray gloss all over (about 4 coats) so the washes would run easily. I also used this time to apply the decals so the had a nice smooth surface to stick. Next i decided on the diorama afer watching the video on you tube, Plaster, Teddy bear filler and a few wires and LEDs knocking about the house came in handy!! I had to crack open the barrel and clear a path using a Dremel. Once done started on the base, foam slabs and plaster, few bits of cat litter, YES cat litter lol and the sprayed with the airbrush. I had cut out a section befor painting for the batteries and drilled a hole for the wire and a hole for the long screw that would fit the tank to the base. This is how i managed the round leaving the barrel, it was very fiddly but the wire i used to power the LEDs was also stable enough to support everything. Yes the projectile is a tooth pick lol im all about house hold items!! all held together with the hot glue gun. The last thing i had to do was put the 'Teddy' stuffing on and around the frame, again very gentle and use of the glue gun. Well thats pretty much it all, ive put the finnished model on ready for inspection but please feel free to ask if you get stuck or i havnt give enouph detail.

Hello all, Ive had this challenger built for some time but i watched a video on you tube where a guy made a tutorial on a tank firing. I thought mmmmmm lol and decided to take a chance, excuse the accuracy but it was more of a 'trial' to see if i could achieve the same effect. Ill put the steps i took on WIP if anyone else wants to have a go!!

Excellent, how did you do the base? -
Thanks so simple lol
-
Looks brill!!! How did you achieve the background, as in no corners etc? I tried a white sheet once but didn’t have the effect you have.

Defo look into fibre optic as well as it wont matter to much if you have any unsealed seams, that was the challenge for me. have a look at the work in progress and there are steps i used, most worked some didnt lol

Hello Hoolio, thanks very much, I used INFINI MODELS 110denier for the rigging, its the best ive used so far. think it was 10 quid from Sovereighn models. Its very easy to attach with a dab of CA. I think the key is even though its stretchy lycra, only stretch it enough to fit and that allows all the rigging to be a uniform thickness and flex when your wife knocks it as well😉!

Thanks for the comments, the light shade was intended it’s warm white, didn’t know how many whites there was until I started the build 😄

Well after printing out a few signs and a quick coat of gloss, i think that is it, Done!!! Its been just over 6 months but i think its there. Hope people have had a few tips and wont make the mistakes i did, If i could do anything different obviously i would but its still the best ive built and the first time ive used fibre optic which will come in handy on my future builds. Cheers for the support and thanks again Doc for the anchor!!!! Ill post a few pics in ready for inspection!! -

Ive chosen not to go with the epoxy as I didnt want to chance anything going wrong. Ive gone with the base but customised it slightly by adding a switch and ive moved the sleepers further in which looks more uniform. Just waiting on the flags to finnish!! -
Amazing!!!!
