I got a small pair of pliers and straightened out my wonky mast (Fnarr, fnarr, snurf, snurf).
Good Lord, that must have been one small pair of pliers, fnarr, snurf, etc......Ced would be proud of you.
Coming along well, nice to see you added the laundry chute...

not sure about the fair winds though as it is curry night at Martian Towers this evening.
To unashamedly quote that loquacious dullard Slackbladder, the chances of there being any fair winds near Martian, are zero....
QuoteI don't think we are allowed to discuss the contents of general melchett's battle y-fronts here; 🤮 .
I'll have you know that the contents of my inner vestments were the talk of the Chipping Sodbury Women's Guild reserves for many a year not to mention the focus of a special report by the Humane Society, June 1918...
Good job on the Royal, I think that's as near as dammit. Following our little tête-à-tête recently I couldn't find anything either (just one thing old fruit, the foremast looks like it's participated in one of your infamous curry nights!...straighten up man!)

Amazing amount of detail work, resulting in a truly spectacular museum level result, well done that man...

Excellent job Martian, particularly like the massive overscale keyboard beneath it. You should photograph it against a Martian pfennig.

Couldn't agree more CC...I think.

Given the road layout you'd better book a parking space for the old battle bus now. when I said battle bus, please be assured that I was in no way refering to Lady M. God bless her & all who sail. etc..
Funnily enough I've just got off the blower with our favourite Martian and preparations are in hand. The council are fighting tooth and nail to prevent a reoccurrence of the previous debacle by setting up road blocks, diversions and even road closures, none of which will deter us.
Lady M noted your comment and simply can't wait to welcome you back on the premises, just be sure to load your long johns with rolled up newspaper

Yes, it seems they've only just finished replastering the walls of the new dining room extension. Greg, the Landlord, said never again!
Never mind the dining room....it was the bar that came in for the worst of it. Following a dispute regarding the attitude of one of the staff members, Martian wielded his luminous Blurglecruncheon, with malice aforethought, and all hell broke loose. His explanation of the devastation, made to the local constabulary and SCO19 Specialist Firearms Command fell on deaf ears, however, following intense negotiations behind closed doors, things were sorted out amicably. We did, however, demand a rematch some time in mid-summer which was begrudgingly, accepted. The locals have been pre-warned.
QuoteAnd, he added, as for your deposit, they've scrubbed the floor six times and it's still stained!
I wondered what Martian meant when he said that he'd vacated the property...

Very impressive Andy, your ship building is on par with your aircraft modelling skills
Cheers Kev, hope all is OK with you my friend...it was great to catch up at Telford, hopefully we'll repeat that at this year's event.

Cheers young Pete, glad you approve old sausage.
QuoteDespite the bright colours it was well camouflaged, gave you a chance to use some different crayons. Well, the ones without bite marks that is.
Indeed, very effective, if it ever had to hide in a sea of Lego. The crayons have all gone and very tasty they were, we're on to the Sharpies now...

Thanks fells, appreciated as ever.
QuoteI had NO idea you did floating thingies! Not your Vulcan BMk 2 or Su-24M RFI, but an exceptional model in every respect. Hoping this finds you and yours safe and well, Andy, and may you still fit into your dress battle pants!
Cheers Mike...yes, I think I've almost built as many floaters as things with wings now. I enjoy the challenge with these smaller scale kits, they're a lot of fun, finicky, but fun. There's quite a few more to come, a mix of military and commercial (even a galleon or two).
QuoteHoping this finds you and yours safe and well, Andy, and may you still fit into your dress battle pants!
We're all good here at Melchett Towers, thanks, hope life's treating you well too. As for still fitting into my Battle Pants, well, that ship has long since sailed!

Thanks guys, appreciated, glad you like it.
Quotethe detail and the paintwork are at the level I would love to attain.
Gruntpa, you can.......just be prepared to experiment with various mixes of the base colour and lighter/darker tones, applied in thin coats, along with some careful masking, and you'll be doing this in no time, it's not difficult, really, just a matter of practice and patience. If you're not happy with it, just repeat the process. If you wish then use washes and/or pastels to add weathering. One thing that folks seem to forget is to lightly overspray the decals (highly thinned mix) so that they look as weathered as the rest of the airframe. If you feel brave you can also lightly sand them using a heavily worn sanding pad. I see many great models with nice clean decals that stand out like a sore thumb.

two turnip delights and one of the General's French fancies please!
You leave my French Fancies alone...do what you like with Baldrick's delightful turnips...and the best of British luck to you.
QuoteI am given to understand that Lady Melchett doesn't know anything about the General's secret hareem that he keeps locked in the dungeon, aka "The Rumpus Room" at Melchett Towers. There were some very strange noises indeed coming from there the last time we visited!
Well if she didn't before, she does now......If I remember rightly, you and the Martianess snatched 40 winks in the Rumpus Room following the now legendary blow-out at the Dambusters... and yes, we also noticed strange noises emanating from the vicinity but assumed it was Baldrick grappling with the inevitable results of his home-brewed Sautéed Cabbage and Vieux Boulogne Delight

And what about the nose gear?
doesn't that look "fishy" to?Yep......leg is angled, it should be vertical, the hub seems oversized (with incorrect detail) and the forward door appears too long. I'm sure someone will comes along with suitable aftermarket but it seems a basic mistake with so many real examples to pull on..
Due to the flatness of the upper nose, the forward fuselage loses that classic egg shape.

and more worryingly, are you turning into CC?
Turning into?...I'll have you know I was his mentor at the Belgian Waffle School of Advanced Gobbledygook and Gibberish Decoding, back when waffle detection was considered a high art and gobbleijuke was all the fashion..

It's not a test shot that has been built up, as far as I understand it's the released kit
If that's the case Johan, just going by these images, then it's quite disappointing. I think I'll hold off a while and see what detailed reviews turn up. I didn't even notice the awful windscreen shape, it seems that the nose area, forward of the windscreen, is way too flat.

I thought something looked off in this CAD view.

Thanks Donald, agreed, the original design was a lot cleaner. The Japanese just loved adding new levels, extra crew, guns…and weight..

Finished this morning and for general melchett's impatient perusal in particular
About time too!...I was about to send Darling round to your gaff, armed with an Armstrong Whitworth 'memory jogger' Mk.1a....you dodged a bullet there, or more a 10,000 pounder.........
Very nice Sir Wibble, your extra-long Cucumis Sativus is magnificent.

This emphasises the leading edge depth and shape. Taken form the walkaround section.
And this, the depth of the wingtip which looks overly thick on the test shots.
And the trailing edge fillet...

something doesn’t look quite right around the wing trailing edge to fuselage fairing.
The Vampire T.11 is one of my favourite aircraft so the news of PR doing one in my favourite scale was music to my ears BUT, and I hate to get into speculation before getting hold of the plastic, something does seem a bit off here.
Vampire T.11 wing trailing edge fillet area.
Also, the wings on the models shown appear to be quite deep and lack a sharper more defined leading edge. (Aircrew just keeping getting younger!) The 'crease line' of the leading edge should be central and not in line with the top of the intake which would suggest that the chord of this portion of the wing is incorrect. Just my observations from what are admittedly test shots. Must wait and see.

Presumably with a silent P, eh...fnaar, snurf, snurf etc...
It'll take more than a few ruddy chainsaws to reveal my age, young fella. If you did, then all you would find there is 'Property of the British Army, hoorah' coursing through my veins (
likely/possibly with just a hint of single-malt 'Shredded Sporran' and Turnip Absinth)...
