  1. Thanks for the replies. Silent seems to be the way forward, but quite a lot of money. Thinking cap is needed.
  2. I'm a recent returnee to modelling and never had a spray painter before. I picked up a heavily reduced Badger 250 from a local craft shop that was closing down, but having come to use it, I have found that although the brush seems to be ok, the compressed air can system it uses is... well... pants! I should have realised this, because I used to work in a Maplin, and the compressed air cans we sold were a waste of money and time (only useful for one-off emergencies i.e. get dust out of a location, recovering a small item etc) So I joined in this thread ... ...but thought that I ought to really start my own. My question is this:- a) do I stick with the Badger 250 and get a compressor to go with it? If so, which compressor? or b) just get an entirely new kit, and without breaking the bank, which one? I found this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Voilamart-Air-Brush-Compressor-Airbrush-Kit-Dual-Action-Spray-Gun-0-3mm-Art-Set/223281100295 which appears to be a rebadged Expo AB605 (as mentioned in the other thread)
  3. I'm in the market for a reasonable airbrush too at the moment, so took a look at this and found a review of it. http://www.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=11484 Tempted, but spray painters are a new thing to me, so still wary. EDIT - I just found this, much cheaper and looks to be the same kit. Hmm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Voilamart-Air-Brush-Compressor-Airbrush-Kit-Dual-Action-Spray-Gun-0-3mm-Art-Set/223281100295?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D3580a68d7bde4dfab5592135cf5ae894%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D372620791734%26itm%3D223281100295%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  4. I had to look Affinity up, as I've only been in Hanley for 3 years and I wasnt familair with the name. Their Facebook page reports that they were planning to close their shop on 1st June, and were going to focus on Shows instead. However, their last Facebook post dates from May. eModels are based in Stoke too, but because I dont have a car anymore, I've not been across to check them out, although I do keep tabs on their Facebook page and website; sadly searching through their website is a real pain in the backside sometimes, so I prefer to use others. I am using TET, it's taking a bit of getting used to, however using the new spray painter I picked up is proving to be more of a challenge
  5. finally got around to setting up a little modelling workshop in my kitchen, which gets lots of natural light all day. and the stash has grown somewhat
  6. Sorry for slow reply. Thanks for the information, I shall now use the colour with more confidence
  7. Hi all, Am I the only person who feels that Vallejo's 'German Grey' 70.995 is too dark?
  8. Nothing special, Tamiya Panzer Kampfwagen II Ausf. F/G, my first build in 30 years My eyesight is not as good as it was, as you can see I've someone missed a spruce burr on the Idler Wheels, and some mold seams on the exhaust. Reading glasses are not good enough, going to need some dedicated glasses.
  9. Thank you all for the warm welcome and information, it's very appreciated. @Troy Smith found eModels website, not impressed with their customer service. I sent them a message on Facebook about which glue and they replied to send an e-mail. I did, no reply. @PhoenixII Birmingham, but moved away 'down south' when I was very young, came to Stoke in 2016 with my job.
  10. Hi, I'm Kait, I live in Stoke-on-Trent but I'm not a native. I got into plastic models as a young'un, due to an ex making lots of Tamiya kits and I was attracted to the creative and historical elements. Then I got married, had kids, started two careers, etc etc. During this time I always managed to find time for computer gaming and playing the guitar, which are my other two interests. Recently, I stumbled across a Tamiya Horch 1a kit on e-bay and it took me straight back to when I was younger. I got that familiar funny feeling you get when you walk into a model shop and see all the kits lined up, so bought myself another Tamiya Horch 1a, a Citreon11CV Staff Car, and a Panzer 2 Aus F/G. The thing is that I have no glue or paints anymore, and its been a long time since I last bought any, so I'm looking for recommendations, please.
