  1. Looks good to me Pete, and the red decals are probably going to blend in against the OD background. Cheers, Charlie
  2. You probably have the right gunsight Rob. I spent ages researching the 'correct' gunsight for the Mk.XVIII and it seemed that it used a strange covered device called the Mark III Free Gun Reflector Sight which I duly added. Later, when we were discussing aspects of the camo around the cockpit in this thread I could see that NT225 actually had a more conventional standard gunsight, probably a Mk II. Anyway, your Mossie looks absolutely great, very like mine in fact - only better in some aspects of the camo where I got it wrong. So definitely 10/10! Well done for persevering. Cheers, Charlie
  3. Now you have the gunsights on, may I suggest that the strange windshield design might have been to give the pilot a better view of the sights and what he was aiming at? The sloping windshield might have introduced distortion? Just a theory... Cheers, Charlie
  4. Made by our 11 year old daughter in 1997. I think the Microset/sol may have been replaced, once if not more. Out of a kit box? Spitfire? Matchbox? No recollection of it whatsoever. Whatever, I obviously need more of these. Adrian - since this post... your images no longer appear. Maybe me (I live at the end of the narrowest internet pipe in the UK) but your previous images are there, as is Pete's. They've all come back! Must be my internet! Cheers, Charlie
  5. I find the combination of strong reading glasses and an opitivisor a sure recipe for knocking almost anything over. I always say to myself 'must move the superglue/thinners/microsol bottle... Oops'. I haven't tried the accelerator trick, it sounds very useful. Is there a particular brand to go for? Thanks, Charlie
  6. Fantastic paint and decals. Looks great Chris! Good luck with the 6. Cheers, Charlie
  7. Blue/Grey paint sprayed on. Unmasking didn't reveal any major hiccups; Happy with that. That's a bit of errant masking tape under the horizontal stabiliser thingy. Will be removed. Windscreen just balanced on, will need fixing properly. To do... Matt black anti-slip surround around footsteps on fuselage Undercarriage (and add steps to them) Flotation devices on legs/wheels Paint grills Decals Finish and fit winch Footstep under door Fit EMRU and Mk.44 Torpedo* Aerial wires Exhausts Oh yes - rotors! *what colour is the practice torpedo? Yellow? Good thing we have until June! Cheers, Charlie
  8. Looking every inch a Sea Vixen. Nice wing fences. I may have to find one of these for FROG GB #3. Cheers, Charlie
  9. Thanks Adrian! I hope so Pete Cheers Pat! Thanks Chris. Coming together slowly but getting there. I've learned a lot about the Wessex, even been to see a real one! What surprises me is the lack of decent models in 1/72 of one of the most important British helicopters. Anyway, despite the recent radio silence, progress has been made. The Wessex will be in the Royal Navy HAS.1 scheme of blue/grey and golden yellow. Yellow is a tricky modelling colour best with a pink undercoat; I decided that the clear parts would be easier and safer painted separately; Masking; Dark Admiralty Grey on the 'inside' They also got the pink treatment, but forgot to photograph, sorry. And sprayed yellow; Rotor blades painted; Dark green tops, black underneath. The 4+ book says 2" yellow and red stripes which equates to about 0.70mm @ 1/72, Compared to photos of the real things they look a bit wide. But then the photos are of a restored Wessex. I'm not changing them now. And tomorrow... the Wessex gets it's Blue/Grey paint. All masked up and ready; Hopefully, back tomorrow! Cheers, Charlie
  10. Lovely finish AW, great model. I had the same experience with my Harrier decals in FROG Squad #1. Decals must have been 50 years old. Cheers, Charlie
  11. Excellent Stu! Nice to see what it looks like when 'new'.
  12. Hi David, A very personal piece of aviation history for you and a great result. Well done for persevering with your Ventura, she looks great. A pleasure to follow along! Cheers, Charlie
  13. Looks good (it's a Sea King!) and nice to see one being made by someone who knows the helicopter. Looks like you've made a few mods, Any info on what you've added and what needs correcting would be great. Charlie
  14. Well done Pat! One of my favourites from many years ago. Cheers, Charlie
  15. Gulp! At least the u/c survived. If you ever (e.g. after the next test flight) need spare parts, ping me a PM before you go to H. I have a few left over from my build. Cheers, Charlie
  16. Good grief! (a favourite saying of my owner), I hope they had a good supply of... spare propellers, undercarriage, engines, crash barriers, cameramen...
  17. It's a frustrating job David, I know from experience. If at first... you'll get there! Best of luck, Charlie
  18. Good progress and modifications. Great film!
  19. A good start Dave, cockpits and scribing looking good. An interesting discussion about FROG vs Airfix Fireflys. I guess my Airfix kit (superb box art) will remain in it's box. Cheers, Charlie
