  1. Nice build, I love it, the 'roos roundels fit the mirage very well!
  2. It looks magnificent, I love the way you did those metal shades and weathering!
  3. Not really that tempted by a mi-26 tho haha. Yeah that's a few things I've heard, people comparing their quite bad uh-60a to the well praised hh-60 and other seahawks. Inconsistency is what I've seen.
  4. Yeah I wish I did a tad more research, it was cheap and now I understand why... Heard great things about Zvezda ktis but that one poses another issue: available space haha! Damn that is a nice collection! I saw some hobbyboss kits that are quite cheap, It's good to know! As I couldn't track the origins of the mistercraft 212 on scalesmate I thought it might be either a brand new mould or a simple new rebox of the italeri. Yeah I'm definitely sold on the Sea King, it's really tempting an got great reviews. Thank you very much for your replies everyone, that's great inputs and very appreciated!
  5. Haven't thought of a Sea King, but now that you say it, their kit seems to be really nice and well praised, loved their vamp! Altho if decide on one, I'll definitely opt for the HAR.3/Mk.43 one and do a rescue one
  6. Hi! I just started my first helo kit, a mister craft ab-212, let's be honest, I don't know if it's the mould or the plastic but the start has been rough. So rough that I already put it on hold, I'll wait to have more experience with rotorcraft before touching it again... Plastic is immensely brittle, and every part has a bigger links to the sprue than between the different components of a single part, I guess you can guess where this is going... So here I am, I'm now looking for advice to what are the nice helicopter kits you'd recommend? I'm interested by anything really, been eyeing the Hasegawa UH-60J, seems that it'd be a cool CSAR helo build, and the kit seems amazing, altho pricey. I've been looking into reviews of Kiowas, Super Pumas/Cougars, NH90 etc aswell. I just don't really want to do an attack helicopter (apart if the kit is great with a nice fit and cool roundels). Thanks for your help!
  7. Thank you very much! Cannot wait to see how yours come out! Thanks a lot, that's appreciated! Thank you, I'm not going to lie, those roundels are a huge reason why I decided on this kit
  8. Hi, here I'm sharing with you my Vampire in the RNZAF colors! It's the 1/72nd Airfix vampire starter kit. Little bit of a back story, I chose a started kit because it's the first aircraft kit I've done, and the first time I weathered (washes only), and also the first time I used acrylics extensively (used a lot of lacquers and enamels on my ships), and also the first time i have to mask that many things (canopy and all). So first of a few things, I'm quite happy with it, please be frank and full of tips, I'd love to learn new things for my next model (1/72 AB-212). I initially wanted to dive in a big-ish project with a flanker is a special livery but decided onto something simpler (and cheaper) to learn. As you can see here, I started the wash on the right wing but ended up leaving it too long, forcing me to scrape the excess, and chipping a bit of pain... Well, I learnt my lesson. Overall I'm really happy with it, I love the real paintjob, learnt a lot of things along the way, and It doesn't look too bad on my shelf!
  9. Hello! I am kind in the middle of my "documentation quest" about the Flanker family, and coming across some questions. First, that'd be my first proper aircraft model, I'm looking to do a few of the flanker Family. Was thinking about doing first either the 2014 Zvezda Su-27SM, or the Revell rebox of the Hasegawa Su-27SM. Those seem to be some good quality models and it sounds like a good "warm up" before the project Do you think it would be a good idea? Or should I start with something smaller and more simple? (I'm kind of an aviation nerd so any good model of a jet fighter interests me, or any aircraft for the matter haha, completely open to recommendations). Secondly, while waiting for the release of the Zvezda Su-30SM, my project could be an Su-30MK, that particular one: However, I can't seem to find much about it... I found a diecast model at 1:72 but only a few pics online and no profiles or anything, not even sure what the exact color scheme is, it seem to have been a temporary livery at a Paris Airshow and MAKS 2009. From my understanding, I could take a trumpeter Su-30MKK or the old Su-30KN from Zvezda (which seem to be a berkut rebox). From those two aforementioned, which one would be the better kit? Know any other possibilities? Or have I missed that someone made that exact kit already? Or maybe I'll get tempted by one of those very colorful twin seat flankers liveries from air forces like Venezuela, or get inspired by some of those fantastic creations in that forum and end up with a totally different aircraft project. PS: I'm a brush painter, so maybe from your experience, complex camos and those metal shiny part for example exhaust and engine on the flanker may be an issue? Thank you very much in advance, Cheers!
  10. Good day, I am very new to the hobby, I did a few 1/700* ships in the past (all ww2 Japanese warships), and recently decided to give aircraft a go! Decided to join because I was really inspired by a number of threads here. Currently in the "documentation digging" process of the flanker Family, you can expect me to ask for advices and infos very soon about that gorgeous airframe Cheers,
