  1. My bad!!! Tired eyes. Post reported - mods can you move to the WW2 section please? Ash
  2. Hi all, I am currently building 2 Eduard 1/48 Tempest Mk.Vs and have a query regarding the various air filters used… I am building a ‘series 1’ aircraft, either JN751 or JN754 and a ‘series 2’ post war aircraft: https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/5/8/7/1218587-76-instructions.pdf What would be the correct combo of parts? To complicate matters I have bought the Eduard aftermarket intake ring for both kits - https://www.scalemates.com/kits/eduard-648499-tempest-mkv-intake-ring--1233970 If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. kind regards Ash
  3. Hello everyone! This is my first foray into the Group Build area for a good while - I particularly enjoyed the OG Frog GB. I will not be able to be as prolific in this GB, but I am keen to say that I have sourced this beauty for the princely sum of £5! My dad even dug out a sky base for me! Albeit broken, the plastic has embrittled over the years, but easily fixed! My dad recalls that they never used to be particularly poseable, having nicked some oil to ensure smooth movement of the ball and socket joint! Box contents are pristine: Even more pleasantly surprising is that the 50 year old decals look very much usable: Can’t wait to get started! But will have to wait until my model club D-Day build has been complete. cheers Ash
  4. Thats the thing though isn't it, it is not all 'newer over complicated kits' that have the rivets - also it is not all new kits which are very complicated. I am building the Eduard BF-109F at the moment and admittedly it is a bit fiddly and could be more straightforward, but that tends to be Eduard's style. I for one am a huge fan of their surface detail, it is second to none and really provides a lovely canvas for all sorts of weathering mediums. Mr Sulc and the Eduard team - keep doing what you are doing! Other manufacturers bring out kits with no rivets and with simplified build sequences (Airfix spring to mind) - but then get slated as well. Seems like you can never please anyone - next thing you know, you would have us get rid of recessed panel lines too! This is obviously all meant in the spirit of friendly discourse, but i can't let you get away with telling me the Old Tamiya kit will be superior to this new offering. Ash
  5. The transparent spoked wheels were ingenious for the time! Easy solution is to drybrush the spokes Looking forward to seeing how this comes together @AdrianMF! I found the kit very pleasant, the radiator assembly is a little challenging though. Ash
  6. These references are all incredibly helpful, Thankyou so much. I will be sure to tag you in the RFI. Cheers Ash
  7. Thankyou so much! I am not really a 109 officionado so stand corrected on the confusion between 109F-4 and F-4/Z. I am looking at doing Wr. 10059 - are there any good online resources for reference to this aircraft? In terms of tyres then, I will go for the ribbed variety (insert joke here) Cheers Ash
  8. Hi all, I am currently making Eduard’s 1/48 109F as one of Marseille’s mounts. Can someone advise what tyres would be appropriate? Ribbed or smooth? Cheers Ash
  9. Excellent! If that were the case I have a Heller interwar biplane waiting in the wings 😋 Ash
  10. You’re too kind Mark! a link to the build if anyone were interested: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235055915-f333-fairey-delta-2-complete/
  11. Got this one on order myself having made the Frog one a few years ago! Looking forward to seeing how it comes together mate! Ash
  12. Thanks Dave - I also remember your sublime Gloster E.28/39, I look forward to seeing something of similar quality! Yes, I certainly have a soft spot for old stuff! If I may, an old Heller kit I built last month, although this may be heresy on the Frog chat… With regards your stash, therein lies my main issue with modelling… so many kits, so little time! May I say I am very grateful for yourself and Pat to host the GB again, I very much enjoyed it last time! Indeed it was that GB which got me involved with posting builds on BM! Ash
  13. I can thoroughly recommend the two kits above Dave, I built both of these as part of the the initial Frog Squad GB! I believe the Ventura was a test shot, whereas the Anatra Anasal was in an Emhar boxing. Ash
  14. It certainly catches the eye doesn't it! If you can get your hands on one for a reasonable price i would recommend it, the build is relatively trouble free. I have preordered the dora wings kit and when completed I will pose it next to the Frog version! As Dave @Rabbit Leader says, hopefully the Dora wings kit brings the prices down, I have just checked my Ebay and i payed the princely sum of £17.50 for mine back in 2019, seems like a huge bargain at todays rates! Cheers Ash
  15. Oops, this one must have fell off of my radar! As a contributor to the original Frog squad GB it would be rude not to participate in this one 😋 As I have no Frog(spawn) in the stash I may have to wait until the first show of the year to delve through what I call the ‘junk shop’ traders to see what bargains I can find! Happy building guys!! Ash
  16. Im glad the gloss went well with that ratio @Maskingtepo! For a Matt varnish I’d recommend the Mr Color Flat clear - C-182. cheers Ash
  17. When I use it ( and I assume you are talking about the GX varnishes ), I recall a mix of roughly 20/80 varnish to thinner. Those varnishes are pretty gloopy out of the jar! Ash
  18. My next build is to be this kit as Marseille’s aircraft - will follow along for pointers! Look forward to seeing which markings you decide on. Ash
  19. Forgot to mention - I am spraying at the recommended pressure of 12-15 psi
  20. Hi everyone, need a little help here - think I’ve just about for the technique for Alclad nailed but recently I am getting lots of tip dry and clogging, this is despite shaking well and giving the brush a good clean out before hand. Anyone have any ideas why I’m suffering with this? Spraying with with a H and S ultra, 0.4 and 0.2 mm nozzle cheers Ash
  21. Beautifully done! I am building the old heller version of this kit at the moment and will be pleased if it turns out half as nice ! Ash
  22. Hi @Mark Oddy, The kit will Certainly test your modelling skills but it’s by no means unbuildable!! Best of luck with your build, hope you start your own thread!!! Ash
