  1. Finished this along with my Spit, Aeromaster decals, promodellers wash, pastels , tamiya paints and xtracrylix flat used. Same deal as my spit, but on a hurricane. The only difference was rescribing, I dont like rescribing! lol Partial build thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17711 Hurricane Mark 1, V6665 RF*J, Flt Lt JA 'Johnny' Kent, 303 Sqn RAF Northolt. Used by Kent to get his first victory, a BF 110C. Comments welcome Cheers Tim
  2. Although I failed miserably at the BoB groupbuild, I got back into modelling after a 6 month 'hiatus' and completed this model. The kit is the Airfix Spit Mk I. Decals are from Aeromaster, Promodellers dark wash used, pastels, tamiya paints and xtracrylix flat for the finish. Partial build thread here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17713 Spitfire Mark 1, X4227, 603 Squadron, 3rd September 1940. Flown by Pilot Officer Richard Hillary, author of "The Last Enemy". Hope you like it, comments welcome as always Cheers Tim
  3. Cool, I've got one and look forward to your build. Good luck mate cheers Tim
  4. Just to put it down officially, I'd be interested in this GB, +1 to the long list! Cheers Tim
  5. A fair bit of progress, I had a spray round with my new H+S Evo to check the seams, more filling was necessary After that I squirted some thinned Hu 78 (new acrylic type) onto the pit floor with a syringe. However I may have forgotten about the hole for the landing light, landing gear (all three!!) and the eight machine gun ejector ports. Luckily I was wearing old trousers ! I then blocked off these holes with car masking tape, and tried again: As this dried the paint separated and dried very pitted and with varying greens. However this can only be seen if looked at VERY closely, so I'll leave it I attached the horizontal stabs and fillered them: I then test fitted the Radiator bath and Oil cooler, which both have the mating faces a bit to thick, after sanding them down and gluing, and then fillering I was left with this: I have also dipped the canopies in klear but the main canopy is unuseable due to a moulding defect I emailed airfix a while ago but am still waiting Cheers Tim
  6. Ever weary, I test fitted the exhausts, The fit isn't quite as spectacularily crap as the other bits, but it'll have to go on before the paint stage. I also had a go at drilling out the exhaust, works well IMO. Makes quite a difference and I like it Cheers Tim
  7. Don't you mean cm mate? 42" is roughly 105cm! This is what happens when imperial and metric get mixed! :shithappens: Cheers Tim
  8. General Certificate of Secondary Education, basically the exams taken when you leave school. HTH Thanks for the replies , I ordered some A/M decals for this bird from Aeromaster, and I intend to do it in Flt Lt J.A. "Johnny" Kent's colours of RF@J V6665 which he got his first victory while with 303 Sqn at Northolt in Sept 1940. I decided to do his a/c because he is mentioned in "First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum, which I am currently reading. And its the prettiest looking plane on the sheet! I also had a spray-round with my new H&S Evo airbrush, and I'm in love! So easy to handle and a breeze (almost) to clean. Much more filling, sanding and rescribing later... I went to see how good of a fit the Rotol spinner is, and I am bloody glad I didn't leave it until after I finished painting! See for yourself: I compared the shape of the nose to the profile on the Aeromaster sheet and I can see that the nose kinda "fairs" onto the spinner. I tried the DH spinner and it fit perfectly, bugger! Anyway, sods law and all that... 5 mins later: Its getting there! Cheers Tim
  9. Thanks for all the comments people, And Dave, thanks for another brilliant idea mate ! Cheers Tim
  10. Cheers peeps , I made a silly error with the Spit , I attached the wings, but forgot to paint the bottom of the wing section interior green, so it is light grey! Its fairly obvious if you look straight into the cockpit, but It should tone down with some paint on the outside to stop light shining through. I may have to do it with the pit closed now I've milliputted the wings, then sanded and black painted them. After more sanding I have applied tippex which shows more filling needed , I've also separated the elevators and repositioned them dropped. This was achieved by 0.5mm wire and a 0.5mm drill bit in a pin vice. I'm also happy because I got good GCSE results, and as a treat my mum contributed towards a Harder und Steenback Evolution airbrush , from Everything Airbrush! Can't wait till I can give it a try , Cheers Tim P.S. All my modelling seems to have knackered out Bramble!
  11. Thanks for all the replies people , I have completed the arduous job of filling/sanding x3, followed bu rescribing in the wing root area. I used Milliput, Black enamel paint, CA and Tippex and now its finally smooth I then rescribed the area with my trusty tamiya scriber and a sharp knife. Then I attached the horizontal stabs, these haven't been filled yet. I'm also happy because I got good GCSE results, and as a treat my mum contributed towards a Harder und Steenback Evolution airbrush , from Everything Airbrush! Can't wait till I can give it a try , Cheers Tim
  12. Thanks JM and Luke , Updated again Cheers Tim
  13. Updated if anyones interested
  14. Thanks TD and Mish , The fuselage has been filled and sanded and rescribed. The wings have also been filled and sanded, although the piece that contains the gun muzzles fit very crappily and has been eating Milliput and CA thus far! The rear half of the Radiator on the bottom I have razor sawed out and replaced with a thinner piece of plastic to simulate the "droppy flappy thingie" (I'd love to know the more technical term ) Also, is there a actuator rod centre rear on the inside of the flappy thingie? I'm sure I've seen it in some photos and not in others, any answers? TIA Cheers Tim
  15. Thanks GGC and Mish , Quite a fair bit of progress has been made, The fuselage has been fillered and sanded a few times, and also rescribed. The door hinge has been reduced down a bit as well. The wings were thinned a LOT from the inside, with the ailerons being removed and thinned, and the flaps as well. (thanks for the tips Dave G) Me being clumsy as usual I created a bit more work for myself in the process! :banghead2: Nothing copius amounts of Milliput can't sort out though! The wings are far thinner than before and should look fine after the filling and sanding hopefully Thanks for looking! Comments/constructive critisism welcomed! Cheers Tim
  16. Looks great Den, I'd be far too scared to spray them myself! Cheers Tim
  17. Faith, Hope and Charity is simply the best machinima movie I have ever seen, Well worth a look, it's free to download too! Cheers Tim
  18. Sounds like a reboxing of the Italeri kit. I could be wrong though. Cheers Tim
  19. How has the ugliest aircraft not been mentioned? It looks as if it fell out of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, then dragged backwards through the ugly bush, followed by a long drawn out beating with the ugly stick! You all know it, the F4 Phantom. Tim Von Takingcoversharpish!
  20. Great scratchbuilds mate! They are stunning! And also: wal·rus (wôlrs, wl-) n. pl. walrus or wal·rus·es A large marine mammal (Odobenus rosmarus) of Arctic regions, related to the seals and having two long tusks, tough wrinkled skin, and four flippers. Also called sea horse. Cheers Tim
