  1. Re the MX5 RF, there's one in Chelmsford, but, is it just my bias, or is it styled just a teenzy bit like a Mk2 MR2!
  2. Sunday, just turning down into Goldhanger, dark and light blue (more blue grey) Wolseley 1500 or Riley 1.5 (no time to see badge, although I'd be tempted to say Wolseley, not sure they would market the Riley in that combination). Looked really neat and tidy. Reminded me of my younger days when my pal's parents in Kirkcaldy had a 1.5; we got the job of giving it its Ne'er Day wash and brush up - got rid of the hangovers. Also my pal had the honour (!?!) of being one of the first people to hit the Forth Road Bridge on a very icy morning while driving it to Edinburgh - dates it for you!!
  3. The early "real" Alpines up to, but not including A310, had beautifully shaped bodywork. Didn't know a model of a A210 existed, I've got two A110s, one as street spec, one as Monte. I'll actually build them one day.
  4. Interesting comment from JCH about Tamiya and overscale vinyl tubing. I've got the same issue with plugs leads on my 1/12 Porsche 910. If you've looked at piccies on Google (not loads, but they're there), 6 of those things (two plugs per pot) go across the cooling fan shroud. Hmmm, the Tamiya tubing scales up to a 15mm cable (for a plug!) and 6 of them look ridiculous. So, I'm adopting a different approach which may figure on this site at some point (i.e. if it works!)
  5. Saturday at Paper Mill Lock - TR4 in dark blue, looked very tidy. Same day on A12 north of Chelmsford, TVR Typhon in grey (had the appearance of being highly polished grey primer (sorry!!)).
  6. At least two things there you don't see now - Austin Maxi and "Welcome to Boulogne". I remember following it via Motoring News!
  7. Well, I've got one of these. What happens next may well become a "WIP" blog. I'm already finding issues!
  8. On Tuesday, in Danbury, a red MG 'T' type, driving up a steep narrow lane (we were walking) to a very steep entry onto the A414 - not easy for it. Not a TF (grille too upright), but I'm not up on the series enough to know which variant it was.
  9. Yesterday on A414 outside Chelmsford, lovely red (what else!) Dino 246, turned off towards Highwood.
  10. White MGB B soft top with wire wheels, red interior. "J" reg, speedo seemed to indicate about 50k. Absolutely immaculate - concours condition. Parked by the triathlon lake near Boreham.
  11. Nothing to do with this thread other than the charity shop bit, but I acquired a partially built Constructo large scale Bounty from our local Oxfam; hull was complete, masts and spars cut and tapered, all (!!!) I had to do was step the masts, set up the spars, make the sails and rig it. It's in a large display case (30" x 24" x 15") on top of a bookcase. The hull had been beautifully built. I have no idea why the build had stopped and it ended up in Oxfam, could of course be illness or worse. I just couldn't leave it there.
  12. That is so much fun (chuckle, chuckle in a sort of throaty way)
  13. I can hardly reply because I'm dribbling. I go back a long way with these - Scottish Rally 1971, Cardona Forest - "what the h*** was that". Soon, hopefully, I will set about the Tamiya Monte version with Gotto 6 spoke wheels and decals. I've got a half finished "street" version, but never finished it as wheels are wrong for a road version, e.g. four wheel nuts, not three. However, very well done.
  14. Echoing the previous - the first photo made by eyebrows rise - that colour!!
  15. For the past few days, if I use Firefox and hit "View New Content" it pops up a dialogue stating that I'm trying to open "index.php" and asking me what I want to do. If I associate the file with Firefox it displays a text file from Invasion Services Inc. If I use Chrome, I don't get this, "View New Content" opens correctly. Any ideas?
  16. Very good, particularly like the flatbed floor.
  17. Ah! the good old days when F1 cars were defined by railway wheel arrangements! Tyrell 4-2-0 and March 2-4-0. Happy days!
  18. Sothend! Back from Faro last September, we touched down at 12:30 and we were at the bus stop for Chelmsford by 12:55, including picking up checked bag! Mind you, that was before Ryanair turned up, might be a bit busier now.
  19. Excellent model of a fascinating aircraft. Just one question about the original - did they have to get volunteers to crew seats two and three - they couldn't see much from in there!
  20. I have an Evolution Silverline and I do seem to have a recurring "issue" with it. I'm only using Tamiya acrylics. After each use, I clean it by: Get as much paint out of the cup as possible - I use plastic pipettes. Pour some IPA into cup; swill it around and empty. Replace with clean IPA and blow back using yellow cap. Use airbrush to blow this into cleaning jar. Pour in a little more IPA and repeat. Replace with clean IPA. BLow this through onto a cardboard sheet to ensure that all paint is gone, i.e. clean IPA coming through. Wipe cup clean. After all this, if I stop now, when I next go to use it, the needle is stuck, won't draw back from trigger use. Withdraw needle from back (with difficulty sometimes), to find minute traces of paint still on it. Clean with IPA soaked cloth. Why are those traces there - everything's been cleaned? If it is still misbehaving, I remove nozzle, nozzle holder and protector, dump into a container of IPA, then clean them, using the nozzle tool from the H&S spares kit. Overall, it's a good airbrush, but can be hassly.
  21. Excellent shots. Nice to see "Sally B/Memphis Belle". Was lucky to see her one year on Memorial Day at Maddingley before they were no longer invited. Uhhmm, I suppose the Chinook Team guys don't let their wives use that Disco for the school runs!
  22. Thanks, Inquisitor. I've gone with Foxbot decals, two sets which give me Ukrainian plus numbers for Blue 58 (helpful as it appears to be the most photogenic Ukrainian SU-27). I've also got digital camo masks, but for a two seater, so I'll need to see how much modification may be needed for a single. None used yet (not at that stage) but I will be happy to report on my experience - good or bad. Have had one near catastrophy with this kit. I split out the pivot yoke piece of the front cart to check its fit in the well/fuselage as I didn't want to fit it at the early stage suggested. However...I've lost the (censored) thing, seriously can't find it anywhere. I think, hopefully, I can scratch one from styrene strip/tube, time will tell.
