  1. Re oranges, just put this together to show range of shades. All RGB values taken from web page "swatches", not photos, so the values captured are what the web site contained. Couldn't find a "swatch" for Zero Paints Jagermeister orange, you can't capture RGB from photos because of shading. Jagermeister colour is from colour blocks on their web site and it does appear to be rather brownish. Porsche Continental was the orange shade for 1976, whether the Jagermeister cars used that or whether their orange was custom mixed, I know not. Personally, of this lot, I'd go for TS-12 and probably will when build time comes around.
  2. That could well just be the effect of indoor lighting, tungsten, halogen or LED, they all change colour temperature.
  3. Aha, yes, an absolute pig of a colour to match. I've noted already that Tamiya's X range orange is a bit paler than the TS (less red), but somewhere I saw a Google post that suggested that a 14:1 mix of Tamiya's orange and red matched it. For my T70, I tried Gulf colours and made the orange 7:1, and it didn't look to "peely wally" - only the Scots amongst us will get that one!
  4. I'm in because, as KPnuts knows, I've got one and it'll be Jagermeister (not going to try to get Vaillant decals, plus, seeing his one, those look mean!), so I'll be watching and learning. On that front, BTW, any particular reason you've gone for Zero Paints and not Tamiya's TS-12? I'm a relatively recent returner to this excellent hobby, so am very keen on sucking up good info.
  5. Twice as wide and twice as long! Big difference. Are you following KPnuts build of the Vaillant version?
  6. If this works, this is a photo of the aforesaid van! None of those ladies is Sue, she didn't get that close!
  7. I prefer Nato Black to Black as I find pure black is just that bit too harsh, almost dominating.
  8. I should also have offered congratulations on replicating the typical Citroen van of that era in all its moth eaten glory!
  9. Reminds me of 1981 when we were heading south from Calais on departmental roads. There was one with a big sign saying "Frites" just off the road. We were getting hungry, so Sue thought she's go get some, but changed her mind when she saw the size of the grubby bandage the guy has round one hand!
  10. Chelmsford today. Coming out of a side road as we were driving past, so can't give detail, but a Triumph 2000 or 2.5, nicely finished in a bright blue. I'm going to keep my eye open, might see it again.
  11. WOW! Took me about four photos in to twig this is the model, thought at first it was a real example!
  12. Echo all of the above and then some. Magnificent work and workmanship!
  13. Aha! Way back in the day, I had an "F" reg Escort 1300GT, to which I added 13x51/2J wheels from a Mk1 Cortina that wasn't going anywhere, so I was half way to a Mexico (ahem, maybe!!). Enjoyed that car, though, the 13" wheels speeded it up a bit!
  14. This is all really, really good. I've been checking through the instruction manual, trying to identify where various sections of pipework go to. For example, the intercooler plumbing, kit seems to indicate two lengths going down each side of the car to the intercooler rads. What I couldn't work out is how on earth that achieves anything, until I found a post on Google where somebody had mapped out the plumbing and there should be a cross car pipe between the rads which, as far as I can detect, isn't modelled. Is that because it sits way down low in the front and wouldn't be seen? Anybody know?
  15. Coors54: Thank you so much, excellent tips. For hose ends on my other efforts, I've used heatshrink over the Tamiya braiding and then painted metallic red or blue. Your laces suggestion is yet another reason why I find Britmodeler so useful!
  16. This is really good advice for me for the future, thanks, it's like an additional instruction manual! Question that has crossed my mind - would the hoses for fuel and oil be armoured? I was thinking maybe yes, if so, I'll need to get some more Tamiya braided hose.
  17. Decals: Yes, tricky looking. Masking and painting, yes, but colour matching orange can be a real pest. I've just been looking at Google images and they have various shades; most, of course, are on models, which doesn't help. Why are there so few photos of the originals?
  18. Thanks for that. Up until now, I'd only been aware of the TS range. Can I ask why you favour the PS? Both have Cobalt Green and both have an orange that looks OK for Jagermeister and, although the oranges have different rgb values, they are very close; the cobalts, on the other hand, are identical.
  19. Bodywork paint looks really good, which paint are you using?
