  1. Great that this GB made it! I have ICM, Modelsvit, Miniart and Ace in my stash, plenty of stuff to choose from!
  2. Please count me in! There must be a MiG hidden somewhere in my stash!
  3. Haven't built a helicopter for years, this would be a good opportunity, so please count me in!
  4. Please count me in, I have Miniart, ICM and ACE-Kits to choose from. Edit: and Modelsvit too!
  5. It was my very first Group Build participation and I really have to say that I enjoyed the experience very much. So many inspiring and fantastic builds of subjects in a variety you won't see elsewhere. I had lots of fun during my builds and following many of your builds. Many thanks to you all for turning this Group Build into a wonderful time and a great experience for me.
  6. @Bobby No Mac Thank you very much indeed for your very kind words! But it's nothing compared to your lighthouse, which is one of my favourite builds in this Group Build.
  7. Looking great so far! Still 4 days to go - plenty of time to finish her!
  8. Very nice work indeed! The base is also looking very good! Congratulations on finishing her!
  9. Wonderful build, very well done! But I suggest to post the pics in the "gallery" (without inspiration!) although your model is truly inspiring!
  10. Thank you very much indeed, Alan! I am very glad, that you like it and I am sure that I will build another ships sometimes. What was frustrating me most was that I worked for hours but in the end I didn't have any visible progress, it's a big difference to building planes and tanks. To have finished this build even before the original deadline makes me feel quite happy! Thank you very much, Peter!
  11. @Alan P What an impressive model! I am speechless, this is just beautiful and the base is really awesome! Very well done!
  12. Hi everybody, today I finished my fourth and last entry. It's the tug ship SMIT London, scale 1/200 from Heller, built out of box except the rigging material (AK Mega Thin). Nice but sometimes quite frustrating build, it's my first experience in building ships. If you are interested here is the link to the build thread:
  13. Hi all, today I fixed the railings, they were a nightmare. The plastic was very brittle and they broke very easily. Some parts were distorted and not useable. Somehow I got them there. Then I tried some rigging, which went better than I thought. I think the rigging material is a bit too fine for this model, but well... I also stretched the lines too much from the foremast back to the main mast, so the foremast is bent back a little. Well, it was my first try. After all I am very pleased now to declare her finished. This is the last photo in this thread, more photos will appear soon in the gallery. Thanks to all who followed, commented and encouraged me throughout the build. Thanks to all the ex-hosts and the current host (is @Col. still here?) for keeping this group build up and running.
  14. @Alan P, @stevehnz, @psdavidson, @ArnoldAmbrose Good day, Alan, Steve, Peter and Jeff, thank you all so very much for your encourageing comments. I'll do my best to finish her on time, thanks to @Enzo the Magnificent we have got two weeks more so I am sure that I'll get there!
  15. "arrrrrrrrrrrr" Thank you so much! This gives me more time to finish my tug.
  16. Right, I have lost all my interest and joy in building this ship, but I thought that it would be a shame not to finish her on time. So I have worked hard during the last two days to get her there. This is where she is now - all the parts are attached except the railings and hopefully I will get them done tomorrow and maybe there'll be some time left to try some rigging. Decals are done also. Hope I'll finish her on time! Thanks for looking!
  17. Thank you very much, Steve! Still a lot to do before it's finished and I'm afraid attaching the railings will take a lot of time. Rigging will also be funny, unfortunately there is no rigging plan provided, so I have to study the photos. I have to figure out suitable rigging lines too.
  18. Congratulations, Jeff @ArnoldAmbrose! Incredibly good work, she is very impressive!
  19. Thank you very much, Jeff! I was lucky that the kit's plastic is rather soft and flexible, so I was able to bend and squeeze the parts together without having to sand them down on each side. It was risky but fortunately enough nothing was torn apart. Here is a clip of London in very heavy seas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUCrhgDU8iA
  20. Thanks, Martin! It was a bit of a fight, but in the end it worked out alright. Thank you very much for the kind comment. Some shades of grey can also be quite interesting though! Hi everybody, the bridge is done now. As I said earlier nothing really fits well there, the space between the front and aft end of the bridge seems too be a tad too short. I think that maybe I hadn't assembled the deckhouse below correctly. I had to somehow force the side walls and the top into place without breaking the whole thing apart and I was lucky, it worked out okay. I will have to close two small gaps where the side walls meet the front part. All the windows were treated with Kristal Klear before attaching all the parts. Before I added the top of the bridge I painted the details. I also completed the main mast, which comes between the funnels. Well - almost, the ring antenna has not been attached yet to the top. The three cranes where prepared for the paint shop to receive my pale yellow mixture. They had some nasty ejection marks, it took quite a time to remove them. After all this was done I couldn't resist to play a bit and to do a dry fit to get an impression of the finished thing. Still a lot to do but I think slowly I'm getting nearer! Thanks for looking. Any comment, advice, criticism and encouragement is highly welcome!
  21. Hello everybody, yesterday I fixed the two decks to the hull, which was a bit fiddly, because the upper deck did not quite fit into the bow. It was a tad too wide, I had to file off a bit to make it slide completely up to the bow. Before I fixed everything to the hull I built up the deck house, because it was easier to handle that way. After all was done I glued the two decks together and glued them to the hull. Today I closed all the windows with KristalKlear, painted the deck which will be placed on top of the open deck house, painted the details and painted and attached the detail parts and glued it on top of the house. That's how she is looking like now. Next will be some washings and the assembly of the bridge. From what I saw during dry fit trials nothing really fits well there, I must have done something wrong with this deck house, I don't know what. This is going to be interesting how it will work out. Thank you very much for looking! Any comment, advice, criticism and encouragement is highly welcome!
