The pic here shows 332700 with what looks like two plain colours (likely 77 and 75), in an almost identical fashion to the pic of 332884 posted earlier.  I'm inclined to go with that..

I really do need to get hold of these books ;)

I hadn't seen that picture before - thanks! That 77/75 (or 82) combination  will make a very distinctive model.

  2. OK Andrew here we go:

332700 features on the rear cover of the first JaPo book on the Bf109K-4 and they speculate thus:

    IMG_4175

Bear in mind this book is some age now (1997).

In their second volume the authors are much more systematic and analytical, proposing camo schemes according to serial number batches. So for the 332*** batch we are presented with this (which is part of a larger 8 os 109K painting directive):

    IMG_4178

    IMG_4177

    and this overall:

    IMG_4179

You'll note that this last scheme refers to 'dark' and 'light' colours as 109Ks were finished in dark grey/green, brownviolet/green and also a light grey (77?)/green - very striking indeed.

Finally the MMP book also features 332700, presenting it like this

    IMG_4176

This broadly agrees with the JaPo interpretation, with differences on nose and tail. I'm not personally convinced about the grey/green tail they propose as there's no equivalent in the JaPo books but there you go.  Some of the MMP colour callouts elsewhere in the book are a bit debatable in my view, and I feel that JaPo have the edge in their analysis.

"Messerschmitt Bf 109 K" and "Messerschmitt Bf 109 K - Camouflage and Markings" by Poruba (JaPo) are still the best references around, I think.

+1. No competition. Nothing comes close.

JaPo have analysed the differing camo schemes meticulously, allowing a viewer to be pretty sure of the manufacturer just from the camo pattern.

I'll have a look in my copies for any information on 332700 - you might be in luck as this aircraft appears in a number of post-war shots.

  4. This picture might help with some details:

The lower picture shows what you are looking for, namely a modified Mosquito BIV with single stage engines plus the bulged bomb bay. In this case DZ637 P3@C as detailed by @Geoffrey Sinclairabove (in addition this is also one of the marking options of the HKM 1/32 Mosquito). Great looking scheme in my view with the black undersurfaces and red codes.

Look closely at the prop blades and compare them with the BXVI above it - no paddle blades on these early conversions. No idea about decals for this in 1/48 - I think as others have said that its 'mix and match' time for the codes and serials.

The plaque also suggests the 88 was a 'C' though, whereas everywhere else seems to suggest a 'G'.

    There's another problem as well...

Checking the LEMB Ju88G database here: http://www.gyges.dk/night_fighters_odds_and_ends.htm this highest recorded Wk Nr. for the Ju88G-6 is given as 623431. This was one of a batch of 6 or 7 factory fresh machines captured at Langensalza. These had never been issued to a unit and seem to represent the very last confirmed production airframes recorded.

However that number is well short of the 627... range

There's a photo here of the damage to the farmhouse and some more information here, including a photo of Hptmn Dreher.

Notice that the link to The Yorkshire Aircraft site shows a plaque giving the Wk Nr.  as 627586.

Were I building this I think I would go with that

However see post below casting doubt on this Wk Nr

    Hi folks,

Does anyone know of an am replacement canopy for the ICM Ju88C-6 nightfighter boxing?

This assumes that the kit canopy with the two rear gun positions is wrong for this variant.

    Hi Martin

you're probably aware that Falcon do a whole range of 1/48 Ju88 canopies (there's a whole set just for these). Intended for the Dragon kit, but might be worth a shot.

  8. I accidentally put this in the wrong place yesterday. And today!!! :tmi::coat:

    Thanks @Rabbit Leader

'Hope this is OK by the Mods.

I stumbled across this listing on eBay for a wide variety of Heller kits

Might help any members looking for a particular kit or a source of inspiration?

I have no link to the seller, and no interest financially in the sale

  9. On balance, with 2 authoritative sources giving  620028 as the Wk Nr, I would go with that.

The Staffel letter 'X' also suggests 13./NJG 3 rather than 7 (although aircraft could, and did, move between units). It's not that common to see letters at the end of the alphabet being used as Staffel codes, but at this time in the war many units had (nominally at least) been expanded to 4 Staffeln within a Gruppe, as opposed to 3.
