  1. Whilst trying to make a muddy taxi lane with puddles and grass on the sides for a Hurricane, I found out that E-Z Water is too thick for that and then found out that the alternative water texture acrylic that I bought from Vallejo is meant for raised crests on waves and foam effects. Would anyone happen too know what is good to use for small puddles in 1/48? Preferably something self levelling that starts out as a liquid. Thanks in advance, Theo
  2. All but finished the interior, it's just waiting for the pilot's paint to dry and get some touch-ups, then it's a light wash and close it up. I made a platform for the parachute from leftover PE and the parachute from a piece of Blue-Tack with straps from masking tape and again some leftover PE. It turns out that the dents behind the turret were meant for the gunner to have a better view when the turret was retracted but these were omitted in production models that carried the twin Lewis guns which luckily happens to be the case with the one I'm building. I'm not sure whether to add a navigator but will have a look at adding a gunner later unless I built a more correct turret interior like that Simon did. Another Airfix Blenheim and a Matchbox Vickers Wellesley from the stash have some aircrew to spare, of which the latter look a lot more the part. Time for an update Airfix? Unfortunately all the transparent pieces I tried to cut to shape for the wingtip lights shattered so I tested multiple layers of Krystal Clear which worked but needs to be redone with red and green paint on the first little blob of the stuff. After that I'll airbrush the plane because I finally have a good airbrush that I want to try out seriously although I'll have to order some of the MRP paint I'm planning to use. After using the cheap Fengda's for a while, it started to irritate me that I they were too unreliable for the finer work and chose a Harder and Steinbeck Infinity which worked like a charm while testing although I miss the backblow for mixing and thinning paint and cleaning. I already brush paint a lot like the Airfix Sea Hurricane that's crawling towards the finish. Regards, Theo
  3. Thank you Chrisses, Fixed the engine colour with Revell SM302 because Humbrol enamels seem to be phased out in Holland, masked a bit, looked up the Airfix and Eduard1/48 scale Blenheim instruction sheet as well as the 1/72 Eduard one and will add a parachute behind the pilot's seat, failed to find a navigator in the spares box because I think they're childish, they obscure detail and won't fit the scene of an aircraft on the ground. The stash will have to provide for this ceiling gem to be although it's mostly 1/48th. Now because this was supposed to be an oob build, the first thing I did was scan for ejector pin marks and fill them with Mig Classic Arming putty as well as sprue goo made up from the finest Monogram plastic from the first run of their B-17. Being more used to older moulds than newer ones and the omission of them in the instructions, I mistook the dents in the fuselage behind the turret as moulding errors and smoothed them out before discovering they're intended to be there. To what purpose is not clear to me and I'll ask a YouTuber or two who do quite extensive research. Unless someone here can shed some light on these dents. The topic by this Simon mentioned cutting out the non-transparent lights on the wing tips which he replaced by leftovers from a Stirling so now I'm contemplating to cut them out as well and start with an effort to replace them with parts from the ventral turret that version I'm building lacks but is included. Cheers, Theo
  4. After a small hiatus due to moving house I was finally able to indulge in some much required bench time. To not unnecessarily complicate matters I decided to do an easy out-of-the-box build of the Blenheim Mk.IVF to replace the Mk.VI in Free French colours that looked like it was moved here by Willy Messerschmidt himself. While waiting for the Humbrol 78 to dry, I stumbled upon a thread here by a Simon who added quite a few bits 'n bops to the interior of his build and much to it's advantage. Luckily I had a 1/72nd scale Armstrong Whitworth Whitley in a dire state from which I was able to salvage some Eduard PE. The plan is to hang this one from the ceiling with raised landing gear so I'll need to scavenge at least a navigator from the spares box.
