  1. Definitely Tone, then I’ll probably move onto Prinz Eugen
  2. Hi again guys after a long pause. Now I have moved to capital of Iceland and had to leave most of my "modellers stash" at my old home, were it is kept safe by my family, luckily before I left to do my studies a managed grab some of my tools and one model (Which might be a surprise for later on another threat and section). Well after a long pause from models (3-months is a lot for me), I am back at it in full force. Now you see, I had some unspent funds and I "invested" them right. Now I felt like getting again into maritime and decided to do it big time. 3 ships, 3 major Axis navies. In order in which they will be constructed are IJN Tone (Tamiya), KMS Prinz Eugen (Trumpeter) and RN Littorio (Trumpeter). So I guess this will be a long bumpy ride, feel free to tag along and give me some advise, tips and other general help. Jakub.
  3. Hi guys, With my Maus project, temporarily shelved due it being in another location I decided to start something else to occupy myself from daily tasks. This time I'll be working on a BMP-2 (D?) in colors of the Ukrainian army. The setting for this vehicle is going to be quite specific. I have imagined this one sitting on the side of a road in the Ukrainian Steppe knocked out with a shot to the side by the Donetsk separatists. Somewhere around the vehicle, I want to put two or three graves of the crew each hosting an Orthodox Christian cross. If I'll be lucky I might get a hold of some Ukrainian soldiers in 1/35 fitting the scenery. A rather sad and real scenery. So far I've been able to find those things in my stash: Trumpeter BMP-2D IFV AMMO MIG - Ukraine ATO Colors set Panzer Art burn out road wheels for a BMP A Metal barrel for BMP-2 that I can't find the producer of. So some problems I have already run into are: 1. I can't find any pictures of BMP-2D taking part in the Donbass conflict. Neither can I find a full list of differences between Ukrainian BMP-2 and the BMP-2D. A worst case scenario, I will scratch build the fenders which are the only things beside he addon armor I could find are different from the modern Ukrainian BMP-2 2. The kit from Trumpeter has a quite decent interior and I would like to expose it a bit, but I have no clue how to do the interior of the vehicle after a hit and burnout. Somebody of you might need to give me tips or/and guides here. So that it for today. I believe that this project might take a while. Any help will be welcome :D. Updates will follow soon. Jakub
  4. Hi everyone, I guess it is time for my first build here on the forums. So couple of weeks ago my family decided to get me a surprise gift for all the work i put into studying and it arrived today to my dormitory. The plan for this one is to make a diorama of crew at rest around the tank relaxing in a bit what if scenario. Maybe the countryside? or a dirt road by the field. I am not a big fan of my family wasting so much on me, literally spoiling me but I have to admit, I am impressed they know me so well and they picked all my favorite tanks from the second world war. The box itself is huge. It was at this moment it occurred to me that I might require a bigger desk than my current one. The box art in my opinion seems a bit minimalistic for Trumpeter but still looks neat. (The ruler by the box has 30cm) Upon opening the box I was greeted by a lot of plastic. The kit is made of more then 1500 parts and might take a while to build. First part of the build is the lower hull and the suspension. Just looking at the suspension assembly makes my head spin around, and tracks do not help either but i am still looking up for it as it will be a satisfying job. So here is the progress so far. There will be also a separate topic for the Takom Tiger II soon because i like doing 2 to 3 models at once just so I can breathe from one project working on another
  5. Góðan dagin fellow modellers. Born in Poland yet I have spend most of my so far 18 year long life in Iceland. I've been "stalking" the forum for quite a while and decided to finally join to share my (pitiful?) work. Well my story with scale models is only about two years with a relatively little output. I´m still learning some lacking basic knowledge. My interest and as well models are AFV throughout the last 100+ years but not exclusively. I´m currently finishing junior college in Akureyri on history and culture planing to study later in the UK. Scale models as a hobby are rather underdeveloped and access to material is rather limited, so in short it means I´m ordering from abroad. Hope that my work will please your eyes (Might make them bleed). As a bonus a Tamyia T-55a I´m currently working (A rusty retirement). T-55a Tamiya turret by Jakub S, on Flickr
