  1. Nice job on the construction all the seams are invisible very well done, that long "bolt" decal looks like it was fun! like what was mentioned above to get that realistic look use a lighter wash or try dry brushing some charcoal from a craft store with a really fine brush then protect it with your clear coat.

    • Thanks 1
  2. This A-10 needs some repairs after it took a tumble its been in a box for a few years also need to assign a unit never did the tail or unit insignia. Needs that bomb load out as well!

  3. Yeh perhaps a dusting with some charcoal I used it on the AV-8B and F-18 I posted instead of pre shading it would look great to do both. Check out this link the modelers technique on the engine is to die for. Fortunately he gave a step by step so I am going to try it. I did order the special edition Slovak Mig-29 with the digital camo. From all the video reviews the decals look ridiculous and are destin to tesr or self destruct. I think ill take some inspiration from you and custom paint it all from scratch. Here is the link http://www.modellversium.de/galerie/8-flugzeuge-modern/10905-mig-29-fulcrum-9-13-.html let me know your thoughts.

    Cheers

  4. Having a difficult time discerning the three colors used on the Slovakian Mig-29 Splinter "Camcloud" if someone has experience in painting Mig's all I can see from what I have found is...

FS 36375 Light gray (Over all body) Light ghost gray

FS 36493 Medium gray (cam tone #1) ?????

FS 36081 Dark gray (cam tone#2) Gunship gray

I prefer Model masters or Vallejo paint line any assistance would be appreciated.

  5. That paint job is really nice like the tones and under tones. The decals look a little too fresh against the weathered aircraft skin did you subdue them on your finish coat? I am inspired to do a Mig 29 but I am looking at the Slovak digital camo in a 1:48 scale and PE the snot out of it see what Eduardo has. Look forward to seeing the finished plane, Cheers.

  6. On January 25, 1985, VMA-331 became the first fully operational AV-8B Harrier II squadron in Marine Corps service. The squadron deployed on the USS Nassau (LHA-4) to the Persian Gulf and eventually flew 243 sorties, dropping 256 tons of ordnance, and became the first Marine Attack Squadron to conduct combat operations from a Landing Helicopter Assault ship. While supporting Operation Desert Storm, an AV-8B Harrier II from the squadron was shot down by an SA-7 over Safwan, Iraq.

This build was a passion for the aircraft a turning point in aviation technology as the AV-8B second generation refined the V/STOL ability paving the way for the F-35B. The low visibility paint sheme I first noticed in that great cameo in "True lies"

  7. Ok yes ill admit this is post my F-35 build when I am in the painting mode its hard to see the table top I just wanted to pass along some the finds I had come across beyond the Home depot screw organizer. I just need to find a corner to put a 3D printer for sure the wave of the future if you have an opportunity go to www.digilab.dremel.com I think model making companies might soon be out of a job all you need is the files to upload and you can print as many as you like.

Have a look at www.reedoak.com new products 2019.

  8. I did this hornet in 2002 recently unpacked it and did some repairs. I always like how the Navy deals with spot corrosion at sea with a spray can hence the mottled finish. I cut out and repositioned all the flaps and rudders decal kit was after market. Photo eched parts were non existant at the time so the kit was as is modeler makes the details from scratch.

  9. After 20 years modelling I was tired of working in a closet on a tv tray so did some research and came accross this fantastic compartmentalize system from Hobby Zone check it out www.hobbyzone.pl

    http://www.hobbyzone.pl/en/12-modular-workshop-system/

The average cost of a six drawer unit is about $8.00 all in all its super affordable. You have to assemble the cabinets with some wood glue thats about it. Rare earth magnets keep it locked together. The work benches I bought from Uline.ca go to

  10. Very challenging and fun build on the Kitty Hawk F-35B STOVL Marine Corps Lightning. I started about eight months ago did a ton of research to find the most detailed photos. The aircraft has allot of openings so it only seems right to pay attention to the detail in each area. To give detail but not over do it. Also allot of research and test swatches on the paint. RAM panels overall paint scheme has to be very sharp it’s a challenge for the most seasoned modeller as the aircraft has not been in service that long and even carrier Ops show minimal weathering. The engine and aft underside seems to take the brunt of the weathering.

I bashed the hell out of this kit replacing or reworking the engine, rear rudders, leading edge spoilers, wing flaps, vertical stabilizers, landing gear, wheels, cockpit and decals. Lots of wiring and hydraulics added to the landing gear, weapons and landing gear bay. The kit is fair at best the surface detail on the main body upper and lower portion is there but that’s about it. Biggest challenge was the lack of any detail on that gorgeous rotating exaust nozzel Lockheed Martin designed found great photos to work from.

If you have any questions on the build paint colours, PE add on kits please feel free to contact me.

  11. Does any one know the usual load out on the wing stations ofthe F-35B. I have a Meng U.S. satellite bomb kit 1:48 with GBU-31-V1, V3s, ANAAQ-33, BRU-61, GBU-53, GBU-54, AIM-54A and GBU-39. Not allot of accurate photos if you have a pic or source I would love to follow up on it.

  12. Excited to be a part of this huge community. I am a retired member of the PPCLI regiment but have always held a fascination for modern jet aircraft. I have seen most up close and appreciated their direct support in combat operations nothing beats the crackle of fly past. Its so intimidating looking at some of the builds in final inspections. I struggled to get my first post up today but it motivated me to push my skills on my latest build. I built for 20 years then stepped away for 10 years just started back in 2017. Look forward to meeting you and hearing your comments.
