  1. Excellent work. Very impressive. Cheers Allan
  2. Well I don’t know if I would call this progress but here is where I am with this Corsair now. Having spent a relaxing few hours masking to paint the dark sea grey I resprayed the black before the grey. When I peeled back some blutac for a look I saw a black line between the OD and grey. This as it turned out is over most of the airframe. This is how it looks. So I’m thinking what’s my best approach to sort this? Should I use the OD or the grey to cover up the black line? I’m also not sure about the grey is it too light? Another thing occurred to me when I looked at the few photos of the actual planes is that I may have the camo pattern reversed. I’m calling it a night for now and give it some thought tomorrow. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Cheers Allan
  3. That is one impressive Corsair. There is so much going on in one model. Excellent work. Cheers Allan
  4. Nice work Dennis. The different markings certainly give it a unique look. Cheers Allan
  5. Thanks for your comments. I think I'll stick with how it is as my modelling time is limited at the moment and I would rather move on with this one. Cheers Allan
  6. Evening all. I’ve started painting the upper fuselage but I’m not at all sure about the colour. I’ve painted Gunze h52 olive drab but I think it’s too dark and too brown compared to the few photos I could find. Thoughts anyone? Cheers Allan
  7. Evening all. So tonight I painted the sky on the underside of the plane. I lightened Tamiya Sky roughly 1:1 with white as I think the sky is too dark from the bottle. I began attempting to do fine squiggles of the sky over the black and then gradually lightly spray over the squiggles to achieve a patchy finish. That was the theory I’m not sure how it’s turned out. First the squiggles, a bit rough I think. This is where I decided to stop and see how it looks in daylight. At the moment I’m fairly happy with it. Any thoughts or criticism would be welcome. Cheers Allan
  8. Hi all. Some progress tonight. Parts for the exhaust area glued in and fitted quite well. Painting started on the interior nothing exciting just grey. More soon. Cheers Allan
  9. Hi all, seams sorted to the best of my ability and to my boredom threshold. I have decided to try black-basing to hopefully achieve some variation in the paint work. So this is where I finished tonight. This is a new technique for me so who knows how it will turn out. Cheets Allan
  10. Nice work Pablo. My favourite WW2 Japanese aircraft. I have the 1/72 version but I know I won't be doing the mottles version. Cheers Allan
  11. Lovely Skyray. Top job. Cheers Allan
  12. Those flaps look really good to me Shin. I've got a set for the Italeri F4u-7 but I'm a bit reluctant to try them but what's the worst that can happen? As to the blue colour last year I used Tamiya gloss sea blue mixed with another blue and it looked ok to me but I am no expert. Cheers Allan
  13. Afternoon all. While I was waiting for primer on my F4u to dry I decided to make a start on this. I glued all the main interior bits together apart from the instrument panel which I left of for ease of painting and decalling. The instructions call for Gunze H57 for the interior but I'm not sure if there are other colours involved. I did a search last night but I couldn't find much info. I broke one of the levers beside the seats (I have no idea what they are) but I managed to glue it back on in a fashion. Hopefully more progress soon. Cheers Allan
  14. Afternoon all. Some progress on this one last night. Canopy masked and I primed the plane with Halfords grey primer. As usual for me the primer shows bits that need attention. The canopy which I thought was ok was not so that came off and was re-positioned. There are also some seams that need attention. Cheers Allan
  15. Hi all. I’ve finally got round to this one. The last two nights have almost got me to the painting stage. Canopy on tomorrow and clean up some joins and it will be ready for the primer coat. I am really enjoying this simple build it goes together well with most parts fitting nicely Cheers Allan
  16. Morning all. Took some pictures for the gallery this morning and same posted. Thanks again to the GB hosts and all who took part and took the time to leave comments. Cheers Allan
  17. Hi all. Finally finished this one tonight. This kit was a bit of a chore for me. The decals were not that great as I mentioned in an earlier post. They were rather thick and only settled into the details when soaked in very hot water. Many of the smaller stencils silvered a lot. I don’t know if my gloss finish was not glossy enough or it was the decals at fault. The final bits such as undercarriage, prop, canopy etc took a while as I found many parts simply didn’t fit well and needed much trimming. Anyway another one completed so on to the next one, a d-day mk IX. Cheers Allan
  18. Evening all. Some more progress tonight. It’s beginning to look Spitfire shaped. Some fit issues with the wings and fuselage but a little sanding sorted that. It also needed a bit of plasticard at the front wing root otherwise there would be a significant step on the wing. I will let it all set tonight and clean it up tomorrow. Cheers Allan
  19. Hi all. With an extra week to this GB I am trying to get this one finished on time rather than leave on the shelf of doom. Cockpit painted and assembled but I’m not the best at detail painting so thus one will be a closed canopy. I still struggle with Etch seatbelts and these are on but are a wee bit squinty. So no close-up shots of the cockpit here I’m afraid. Fuselage is together as is the wings so tomorrow I’ll clean these up and finish the airframe. I will be pushing it to finish this on time but I’ll give it a go. Cheers Allan
  20. Very nice Wildcat. Excellent work. Those Arma Wildcats are very tempting. Must resist. Cheers Allan
