  1. Almost finished. It’s on it’s wheels, rotors on tonight. Cheers Allan
  2. Hi all. My slow progress continues with this one. I am struggling to find the motivation to finish this but it will get there. Tonight I gave it a flat coat with Tamiya xf86 and took the masking off the windows. Still a bit of clean up needed there. Tomorrow the rotors, wheels etc will go on and it will be finished. Cheers Allan
  3. Nice work Jagrigger, that is a very nice build. Cheers Allan

    Builders block

Dave, like you I don’t have a modelling space and have to bring all the gear to the dining room and set it up. I’ve seen me spend 10 mins getting it all ready only to go “sod it” and put it all away. The “Mojo” to build comes and goes all the time and I now build when I want and don’t if I can’t muster the enthusiasm. Personally I usually over think it and try to keep perspective as after all we are adults tinkering with plastic models. Having young kids doesn’t help, I’ve been there. I hope to be living my dream life soon, retirement in 3 years, spending my days out on my bike, modelling and little else if I can get away with it. By then I’ll have my hobby room in some form. Cheers Allan
  5. Just had a look through your build thread and it is most impressive. Superb details. Cheers Allan
  6. Excellent work. Nicely done. Cheers Allan
  7. Evening all. Tonight I continued on the rotors, wheels etc. All primed and ready for painting tomorrow night. This is always the part I find tedious as you think you are nearly finished but there is still lots to do do. I think for my nest build I will start with wheels and ordinance to get them finished while the mojo is fresh. Cheers Allan
  8. A tentative yes from me. I recently bought an airfix Bulldog as I thought I was brave enough to attempt the rigging. It’s so tiny it scares me a bit so I’ll need advice to rig it. Cheers Allan
  9. Count me in for this one as well. I have lots to choose from in 1/72. Cheers Allan
  10. Count me in too. I have a couple in the stash so why not? Cheers Allan
  11. Count me in too. This gives me an excuse to build a JASDF Phantom. Cheers Allan
  12. Excellent work. Very nice. Cheers Allan
  13. Excellent work. Superb detail in the cockpit. Cheers Allan
  14. Evening all. Finally finished the decals this afternoon. I’m kind of losing interest due too the poor decals as I think it’s going to look terrible when finished. But, I will press on and finish it as I don’t want another addition to the box of unfinished kits. Later tonight I’ll give it another gloss coat and make a start on the rotors and other wee bits and bobs. Cheers Allan
  15. Evening all. I started the decals today and I’m a bit bleary eyed at the minute. I must say these decals are awful with huge thick carrier film which I just know are going to silver like crazy. I’ve done most of one side and I’m calling it a night for now, more tomorrow. Cheers Allan
  16. Thanks Col. I glossed the model today and tomorrow I’ll start the decals. So far we are all doing fine and I’m not overly worried at the moment. Cheers Allan
  17. Evening all. Some small but, for me, significant progress tonight. Tonight I masked off and sprayed the black at the rear around what I assume is the exhaust. On “Hotel California” the black part curves around the exhaust and this was proving tricky to do to the point I kept putting off attempting it. Tonight I managed to get it done. It’s not perfect by any measure and the curves round the exhaust are slightly different but I think it looks ok. I’ll leave it overnight and gloss coat for the decals tomorrow. I am confident I’ll get this finished as I should have more time for modelling in the next couple of weeks as the whole family are self- isolating. My youngest daughter has been in contact with someone with COVID at school so the whole family has to stay at home. What a strange time we are living through. Cheers Allan
  18. Just read through your WIP and your work so far is excellent. Looking forward to see how this one progresses. Cheers Allan
  19. Excellent work Steve. Nice markings too. Cheers Allan
  20. Thanks for the link Craig some useful images there. My F-5 is on hold at the minute as I’m trying to finish my Seaknight as it has an earlier deadline. Cheers Allan
  21. Hi all. I intend to build a Gulf war Tornado for this GB. I won’t be starting for a few weeks or until I finish my Seaknight for the Helicopter GB. I planned to build this about ten years ago and bought decals and the desert pink paint at the time but as with most grand plans it came to nought. Anyway I intend to build “Nikki” ZA481/N from modeldecal set 109. These decals are now rather old so we’ll see how they perform. For the paint I have Xtracrylic Desert pink which I bought when I was using Xtracrylic at the time. They can be problematic but I’ll give it a go rather than buy some new paint. Anyway here’s the standard box pic and a pic of the decals. Cheers Allan
  22. Evening all. I’ve got to the painting stage at last. Primed with Mr finishing surfaces 1500. This showed up the poor joins on the underside which I improved somewhat but it’s still not great, but who looks at the underside anyway? Next up was mr hobby aqueous h301 which looks good to my non-expert eyes. That’s all for tonight and I’ll think about the next stage. Most photos of Navy Seaknights look very clean so I’m unsure as to how much weathering to do. Anyway here are some pics. Cheers Allan
  23. Evening all. Slow progress continues on this one. It’s beginning to take shape now but it’s been a bit of a slog getting here. Lot’s of filling and sanding and more to do. As you can see the wings and tailplanes are on with some cleaning up required. Still, it’s moving on and so far my enthusiasm hasn’t diminished too much. Cheers Allan
  24. I have to agree, the best Tour for decades. The weather is going to change this week so less bike more modelling hopefully. I did manage to mask the canopy and attach it so I’ll see how that is in the morning. Cheers Allan
