  1. Thanks Stix and Sean. Decals tomorrow hopefully. Cheers, Allan
  2. Thanks Cookie. Yes the Talon paint is very tough I've never had a problem masking it. Shame it's not available any more. Cheers Allan
  3. morning everyone. Managed to grab an hour this morning to paint the olive drab anti-glare panel. My progress has slowed due to annoying things like work ,family etc but hopefully next week I'll have some spare time. Cheers Allan
  4. Thanks everyone for your comments they are always appreciated. Cheers, Allan
  5. That looks very impressive so far, it looks an interesting technique. I might try it out at some time. Allan
  6. I primed it with Halfords grey primer which is an automotive primer in the UK. Once dried I buffed it with a cloth to smooth the finish. I think it is enamel, certainly smells like it,but dries quickly and gives a nice even surface for the paint. I'm debating whether I should try and give a few panels a different NMF to vary the finish. Not something I've done before but worth trying and hopefully I won't ruin what I've done so far.Cheers Allan
  7. Evening all. Wee bit more progress tonight with some of the markings applied. the yellow stripes will be edged with black decal. hopefully the weekend will see more progress. Cheers Allan
  8. Excellent work there Steve, most impressive. Cheers Allan
  9. Well I've finally made some more progress this afternoon. I used Talon acrylic aluminium for the NMF and I think it looks ok. Cheers Allan
  10. Despite me singing the praises of the fit of this kit when I primed it the seams on the underside of the fuselage appeared like majic. I thought I had sorted this at the clean up stage but obviously not. I do think that I maybe didn't take as much care as I should have as I believe when I expect a kit to fit well I may not give it the same attention as others. Does that make sense to anyone? Anyways you are making good progress it's looking good so far. Cheers Allan
  11. Excellent choice. 'Tony' is one of my favourite Jugs. I did it last year in 1/72 from the xtradecal sheet. Looking forward to seeing it. Cheers Allan
  12. Cheers Plastix. No more progress last few days but hopefully tonight I'll get as far as priming. Cheers Allan
  13. Jimmy that is one nice B-25. Good work there. Allan
  14. Looking good so far Sean. That's an interesting decal sheet with some different markings from the norm. Cheers Allan
  15. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. The Brazilian p-47 looks great.
  16. Well I'm either going to use Talon acrylic aluminium or Citadel mithril silver. I was looking at some earlier builds and I'm not sure. I also used Revell aqua silver which doesn't look too bad as well. If this was the summer I fancy trying Humbrol metalcote 27001 but the garage is sub-zero just now and I don't fancy spraying this indoors. Cheers Allan
  17. Nice work so far. I've built several of these revell p-47s and I've found it's a good fitting kit with no major issues although on every one I've built I had to trim the cylinder heads to get the cowling to fit. Word of warning about the Aztec decals I have the same sheet and they look great on the sheet but I found them to be very difficult to use and I gave up on them. I could not get them to settle into the panel lines no matter what I tried as they seemed impervious to setting solutions. I hope you have better luck. Cheers Allan
  18. Evening all. Small bit of progress tonight with the canopy masks fitted. Hopefully I can get it primed tomorrow so I can start the fun part the NMF paint! Just noticed looking at this picture a couple of the masks are a wee bit squinty and need straightening. These pics certainly show up the mistakes, don't they? Cheers Allan
  19. Coming along nicely Jimmy. Cockpit looks good.
  20. Evening all. Some more progress last night. Tidied up the poorly fitting gun inserts, made a start on the engine and got the canopy on which almost does not need glue it's that good a fit. Here's some pics.
