  1. Nice work there. Does bring back some memories of building this one when I started modelling. Cheers Allan
  2. Hi all. I spent a couple of relaxing hours painting and decaling the cockpit. I’ve still to put the decal on the instrument panel as I painted it tonight so I’ll get on to that tomorrow. The seat will be assembled later in the build. Tomorrow I’ll hopefully close up the fuselage. So far this has been a pleasant relaxing build, I hope that continues. I just wish I could devote more time to it as I’m really enjoying it. Anyway, here’s a pic. Cheers Allan
  3. Evening all, I started on the cockpit and other internal bits last night and slapped some paint on this afternoon. I used turquoise green by mig ammo and my first reaction to the colour is wow! It is very bright just now but hopefully a wash will calm it down. I do know how accurate the colour is, I’ll leave it to those how know to pass judgement. The kit itself has been great so far with bits fitting where they should without issue. Cheers Allan
  4. Hi All, I’ve decided to attempt this GB in the hope it will fire up the old modelling mojo which has been sadly lacking for some time. Part of this has been down to home circumstances which are not conducive for modelling right now but I’m hopeful I can find the time for this. As the title says I’m going to do an Egyptian Mig from 1973 for no other reason than I like the colour scheme. The kit is a Profipack version with etch and masks. I’m not great with etch so some of the tiny bits won’t get used. I know absolutely nothing about this subject so if I’m making glaring mistakes as I go please let me know and please if I ask daft questions don’t laugh. Here are some pics of what I’m hoping this will turn out like. This is the kit I’ll be using. Hopefully some progress soon. Cheers Allan
  5. Excellent work Tim and first in the gallery too. Cheers Allan
  6. I’d be up for this one. I built two in the 2016 GB. Cheers Allan
  7. Excellent work Rich. I have to agree the Tamiya Zero kits are superb. Cheers Allan
  8. Hi there. I’m using Gunze aqueous Lt Gull Grey and flat white, can’t recall the paint numbers at work just now. Cheers Allan
  9. Excellent progress there Mark. I remember seeing that technique using mottle stencils on yuotube. I thought I might try it but chose to do random squiggles then mist over the main colour. Cheers Allan
  10. Evening all. Started a bit of the painting tonight. I forgot I was going to paint the metallic parts of the jet exhaust first. Never mind, another day. I also forgot to prime the tail fins, again a job for another day. Anyway I’ve started painting the white and as I’m trying to avoid a uniform finish so I’ve tried to build the white up slowly. So I’ve stopped for tonight and will continue another day. Meantime I’m going to do some research on the demarcation lines for the light gull grey. Cheers Allan
  11. Hi all. I realised I haven’t mentioned what paint scheme I’ll be doing. I’ve chosen a gull grey and white F-14 from VF-41 in 1978. This is one of the kit options. Cheers Allan
  12. Looks like an interesting kit and accessories you’ve got there. I’ve got two of the Fujimi kits so I’ll watch your build for issues. Cheers Allan
  13. HI all, I sprayed some primer on this one tonight,MR surfacer black. This is great stuff but extremely smelly. I’ll look at it in detail in the morning to see if there’s more work to do. Cheers Allan
  14. Thanks Steve, it’s not the best fitting kit but I’m hopefully sorted out the problems. About to start priming and that will show anything I’ve missed. Cheers Allan
  15. Looking good so far. How big are they in this scale? I struggle sometimes with small parts in 1/72 never mind 1/144! Cheers Allan
  16. Evening all. I planned to get more done tonight but I’m way too tired. I’ve got to the point where I’m ready to start priming. I plan to paint the exhaust nozzles first, mask them off and then attach the tail fins and begin the main painting. Hopefully there won’t be to many issues revealed by the primer. This one has needed a fair amount of work to get to this point but enjoyable nonetheless. This pic shows where I’ve got to. The wings and tail fins are not glued on yet. Cheers Allan
  17. Hi all. Small update tonight following some tedious filling and sanding on ill fitting parts. I’ve probably missed some bits but no doubt the primer will show that up. I glued the nose cone on and then glued the front fuselage to the rear. The top join of the fuselage join looks ok the bottom join not so much. Cheers Allan
  18. Hi, yes I noticed that strange issue with the red. I had a debate with myself over opening up the slots for the vanes or not. Still done now and sorted. Tonight I will be sorting out the I’ll-fitting exhaust parts, another night of filling and sanding. Cheers Allan
  19. Hi, I’m not sure what glove canes are is that parts f8&9 on the front of the wing?
  20. Very nice work on the cockpit. The seats are super looking, excellent painting. Cheers Allan
  21. Yes I spent some time last night doing that and I think it’s ok now. Hopefully I can crack on with this now. Cheers Allan
  22. Nice start with the cockpit. It looks like a well fitting kit so far unlike my Hobbyboss F-14. Cheers Allan
