  1. Just caught up with this build Dennis. Excellent work. I’ve got this kit and have pondered getting the camo decals. Your’s look really good. Cheers Allan
  2. I will also keep an eye on this one Patrice. I’ve got this in the stash and I’m curious how it goes together as I’ve read it is a challenging build. I’m sure you will build this at your usual quick pace and to a nice result. Cheers Allan
  3. Thanks Peter. I would usually leave things like cannons off till the build was nearly complete but I didn't think they fitted too well and would need some work to achieve a better fit. I was reluctant to wait till after the painting and decals in case I messed up. The cannon should go back and on without much fuss. I think. Cheers Allan
  4. Hi all. Started on the decals tonight. I was rather unimpressed by them as they seemed very thick and difficult to work with. They were impervious to Microsol and Set and needed very hot water to soften them enough to bed down into the panel lines. I expected better as they were printed by Cartograf. Anyway the main decals are on and next session the stencils and the rest will be done. As you can see I managed to break off one of the cannons I’m surprised it took this long for me to break something. Cheers Allan
  5. Hi all. Small amount of progress tonight with the sky band painted. The masking was a pain trying to get straight lines round the curves of the fuselage. Turned out ok I think. Cheers Allan
  6. Morning all. I’m proposing to build this kit using the kit decals for the ‘Hotel California’ scheme. It may be a few weeks before I make a start as I’m finishing a Spitfire for that GB and have a FAA Corsair to do as well. This will be my first Helicopter build and it’s a subject I know nothing about so it will be an OOB build. Any tips on this build would be appreciated before I make a complete mess of it. Cheers Allan
  7. Hi all. I’ve not forgotten this one and managed some progress over the last few nights. I forgot to take some pics but I’ve nearly finished the painting. Still to paint the sky band on the fuselage and paint the canopy. I’m quite happy with how it’s looking so far. Cheers Allan
  8. Dennis, the Italeri F4u kit has a radome which I’m sure would fit the Tamiya kit. This has been in my spares box for years it’s yours if you want it. Cheers Allan
  9. Excellent work. Very impressive. Cheers Allan
  10. Hi all. This is my latest effort built as part of the Spitfire GB. It really is a great kit with a few quirks but overall I really liked it. The finish is one of the kit options representing a Spitfire of Stanislaw Cheers Allan
  11. Lovely work Roman. Most impressive. Cheers Allan
  12. Super Corsair Antoine. Caught up with your WIP last night, excellent work. Cheers Allan
  13. Evening all. Finally calling this one finished. Undercarriage, prop etc on tonight. Some light weathering with Tamiya sand, light sand and mud but maybe too subtle for my iPhone to pick up. I really enjoyed building this kit and I have several more for another time. Now I hope to finish my Airfix mk 22 before the end of the GB. Thanks to the hosts and everyone who took part it’s been fun. Here’s some pics for now. Cheers Allan
  14. Very nice build and finish. Really nice paint scheme scheme and markings. Cheers Allan
  15. Thanks Dennis. The finish is smooth. I used Halfords grey primer which gives a nice smooth base. When I said “not too bad” I was referring to the the seams which looked better than I expected. Admittedly I looked at it only briefly without wearing my reading glasses Cheers Allan
  16. Evening all. I’ve decided to get this one finished before the end of the G B or it will end up in the box of doom destined to remain there. Anyway I’ve got the bits together and given it a coat of primer. It’s looking not to bad but when I will look at more closely tomorrow. Cheers Allan
  17. Morning all. Well it looks like I will get this one finished on time. I’ve struggled to find time and motivation for modelling these last few weeks but I managed some progress last night. I used Tamiya smoke for exhaust stains and to tone down the bright fuselage roundels. Flat coat was Tamiya x22. Exhausts added next and I unmasked the canopy. Hopefully I’ll maybe finish this tomorrow. Cheers Allan
  18. Excellent work. Very impressive. Cheers Allan
  19. Morning all. Some progress on this one last night. I did a panel line wash with oils. I’m not sure how it comes across in the photos but I think it’s quite subtle as I purposely didn’t use too dark a paint. I also started painting the prop, wheels etc. The two-piece tyres were awkward. I don’t know why Eduard chose this way of doing the tyres as other kits have one-piece tyres. A minor issue I know but annoying given the quality of the rest of the kit. Cheers Allan
  20. Morning all. I’ve made a start on this one. I painted the meagre cockpit xtraxrylic interior green. I also dry fitted the main parts to check the fit. Not too bad on the whole except for the fuselage and wings underneath which will need some work. I am going to attempt to use the instrument panel decals but they may be unusable due to their age. I’m not to bothered if they don’t work as nothing of the cockpit will be seen when it’s all closed up. Cheers Allan
  21. Evening all. I’m just putting down a bookmark for this GB. I will get round to starting this soon but modelling is on hold at the moment for various reasons. As the title says I’m building the old Hasegawa birdcage Corsair. It is a kit very much of it’s time with a spartan cockpit and raised panel lines. I have built the Hasegawa F4u-1a and it is a nice simple build and I expect this will be no different. This will be FAA F4u from 1835 squadron in extra dark sea grey/ slate grey over Sky. Having done some reading tonight I believe 1835 Squadron was once of the first to get the Corsair in 1943. Here are some pics. Decals are from the Skymodels sheet. Hopefully I’ll be able to start this soon but I first have to finish my Spitfire IX for the GB. Cheers Allan
