  1. Excellent model of a very unusual subject. It does make you ask whether Blohm and Voss ever designed an attractive looking aeroplane!? Mick
  2. I think its interesting to note that Roy Sutherland modified the Airfix kit offerings in his book, on building the Mossie, despite the other resin replacements being readily available at the time. Mick
  3. Good effort Mozzy but shouldnt that star and bar be on the port wing uppersurface? Mick
  4. Why not Geoff that's what the rest of us do! With an occasional fondle of the contents and then back in the loft! Mick
  5. Another cracking selection Tony. Particularily like the Maryland, Baltimore and Martinet. Was the Magna Martinet a challenge? I have one in the stash but Magna get a lot of flak for various reasons as I'm sure you are aware! Mick PS: BTW, why does an ex Para have such an interest in the FAA?
  6. Superb stuff David, I feel I could step on to it, its that realistic. Although vehicles aren't my thing I think Revell should be congratulated for producing it despite the faults you have highlighted. Mick
  7. Tony, thanks for the info on the Fulmar's flaps. I had a Warrior Skua in the stash a while ago but sold it once I heard the SH one was coming out but wish I'd kept it now. I remember the decal sheet was totally irrelevant (had Defiant Squadron codes if I recall) so it was probably an early release judging by what you said but I did get a Skua decal sheet via ebay, from , I'm guessing Mr Warrior Models which looks to be good quality and includes Roc options too. Sad to hear he is no longer around. Cheers Mick
  8. Tony, cracking as usual, quick question; how did you find the Warrior Skua as a build and how does it compare to the SH version, does the Warrior kit have the gull wing effect? Also how come the Fulmars' flaps are slate grey on the underside as per your folded wing model or am I missing something? Cheers Mick
  9. Hi Jessica, Thanks for the reply, yes I thought it was over exaggerated, I may graft the Aeroclub wings onto the Roden fuselage instead. Cheers Mick
  10. Hi All, I was recently looking at my Roden BE2 when I noticed the finish of the underside of the wings. Am I missing summat or shouldn't they be moulded with raised rib tape detail just like virtually every WW1 aeroplane as opposed to the sunken line (where the rib tape should be) and a saggy effect (on the linen between) that I have, or do I have a duff moulding? It reminds me of an old Aurora kit. Thing is I did not see it mentioned in any reviews, thoughts anyone? Mick
  11. Well apart from the F.1 at the top of page 60 in Franks book that has them. Mick
  12. D.J. Parkins at the excellent Great Little Ships (Flightpath) has listed detail sets for these kits on his website as future releases for a long time now so fingers crossed. I once suggested a British T class sub may be next in line by Revell on another forum but was shot down in flames as apparently they wouldn't sell enough in the USA.....cobblers. Mick
  13. I think it would contain resin as per their 32nd Airacobra and Mohawk, both of which I read were nice kits with few vices attributed to most short run stuff, in fact Revell are releasing the Airacobra without the resin next year. Mick
  14. Fantastic! Surprised at the lack of response to this news, perhaps if it was Airfix announcing it we'd be up to 3 pages of comment by now? Mick
  15. Martin, You might want to try this new set: http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article/lifecolour's-new-'black'-paints-set/9942 Cheers Mick

    WNW Fe2b

Just in case some of you hadn't seen it, check out this stonkingly good Fe2b on Hyperscale: http://www.hyperscal.../fe2b32ls_1.htm The woodgrain effect on the struts is astounding! If you click on his links at the bottom you can see why his finishing is so good! Mick
  17. I doubt it Andrew as apparently Airfix have said in the past that they will only produce something they can crawl all over with a tape measure. Mick
  18. The keel on the kit , which is basically done as a square box section, inaccurately continues all the way up the bow. In reality this was a thin metal plate, so the bow should be ground down to continue the taper of the hull plating fwd. If you have access to the Anatomy of the Ship book devoted to the Agassiz there is an excellent drawing showing this detail, in reality I think the metal thickness at the stem was about an inch thick. Mick
  19. I was passing the Airfix stand at Telford and briefly overheard one of their guys telling a punter that an 'all new tool' thats 'as big as the Valiant' would be announced at the end of the year?!! Sorry to tease you all! Mick
  20. Hi Martyn, Dont forget to grind down the stem as well as the keel and if you are intending to rivet all of the hull it would have been better to rub down the ridiculously thick plates first. Mick
  21. Fantastic finish Tigger, will it be entered in the competition? Mick
  22. There are a couple of profiles of Hudsons fitted with the lifeboat in the Warpaint but no photos. Andrew Hendrie's book devoted to the Hudson has some very detailed accounts of ASR Hudsons dropping lifeboats but again no photographs. Mick
  23. Bought some on the recommendation of Mike, the main man, in a previous thread, as a time saving filler as opposed to milliput that I usually use but I am not overly impressed. Like noeyedears I find it doesn't adhere very well, basically tears off as you sand it down even in small gaps ( I filled some panel lines on the Italeri Hurricane but had to re apply green stuff afterwards). Mick
  24. I would recommend buying this: http://www.raremovie...2-dvd-177-p.asp Its a superb dramatised documentary filmed during the war and it contains endless interior views of an early Sunderland which should give some idea of the colours therein. It also contains film of Beauforts, Catalinas, Hudsons, etc. Tis a pity about the deep panel lines, reminds me of the one I tried to make out of Lego when I was a lad! Mick
