  1. Enough for me! As you say the desert gears may not have been used depending on avaliability, thus...I'll go on with the Revell kit taking off with the the weapons shown in the picture. To do this, I purchased some BL 755 from Reskit, even if looking at them now they look different...are they the right type???šŸ¤” Mmmhhhhh.....I think the ones in the picture above might not be BL755, but CBU87 instead.... I may have to purchase these ones then... I think I'll go just for two of these as in the picture, one for each pylon. Pylons will have to be modified to remove the rails. Thanks again for your tip. Massimo
  2. Hi Perdu, bulges are in the list of things to be done. I just realized @Neil had mentioned them on page 8 of this topic and I'll take care of them ASAP. Thanks for yhe pictures and note!! Ciao Massimo
  3. Hi mates, during the long time I was ā€¦missing, I started a few new projects , but I never found the occasion/time/dedication to share them. Loading pics and all that was time consuming, even because I used to load them onto Imgur ..one by one!!!!!! Now I understood you can just select more and loade them at the same time!!!!! So instead of Hours, it now takes seconds. Iā€™ll never be able to handle a SW for 3D printing!!!!! By the way, one of the new projects is the SU22. I donā€™t know why, but Iā€™ve never been a fan of Russian Aircraft, but having built a Gannet and having on my stack other Ugly maxchines, I thought this was ugly enough to go for it. It was one of those things you decide to buy very quickly because you canā€™t leave the rest of your life without, YOU MUST HAVE IT!!! So, after having explored a little the market offers for this aircraft, I opted for the cheaper option, the old KP/Kopro/ SMER kit, re-boxed by ā€¦.MISTERCRAFT, which would give me the chance to have fun with added detail from scratch. I also bought some aftermarket so the word ā€œcheapā€ belongs to the past, but there are some items around you canā€™t leave for other modellersā€¦. YOU MUST HAVE THEM!!! These items were the following: 1. PART PE fret , including air brakes , interior, 2. Master pitot, 3. Pavla ejection seat 4. Karaya resin set, 5. Yahuu printed PE instrument panel. 6. Reskit engine nozzle 7. LP ladder, platform and chocks. 8. Reskit rocket launchers 9. Modelmaker SU-22 Polish AF special decals sheet 10. Modelmaker Su-22 Polish stencils decals sheet Thatā€™s it!!! VERY CHEAP!!!!!! Ciao Massimo
  4. Hi all, now a question for the well informed (@Fritag) When I started this build there was just one Jaguar and it was the Revell reboxing . The idea was to represent the 41st Sq special colour . Then a friend of mine sold me the Airfix kit, with some resin parts and loads of decals, so I decided the first one would have been taking off with the landing gears half folded and the second one just parked . While going on with the build I thought it would be good to depict a Jag with Desert Storm colours as the dynamic pose and loads would have balanced the one tone colour. I found a very good picture of a newly painted aircraft with full load and ā€¦.a pilot wearing a green helmet and flying suit. I also checked on the net and found pictures of Tornado pilots wearing the same type of gear. I found pictures of pilots wearing sand gears for the second Gulf War , but that wasnā€™t what I was looking for. Now in EVERY picture I look at I find sand gears and white helmets!!!! So the question is: were pilots wearing green flying gears and helmets at any time during Operation Granby? How realistic would it be a Gulf aircraft with a pilot dressed in green? I know these aircraft came back to the UK and flew foir a while before the desert pink coat was stripped off, but in this case would it be realistic to depict my jag fully armed?
  5. Hi Ian, no, since we met in Dallas I haven't been there, so we could say it was really a lucky chance we had! I'm in the UK now and next week I'll be in Massachussets , but unfortunately Abu Dhabi is out of my range!!! We'll have to chat on BM for a while! About eye for detail...I do what I can the old way, using plastic card, rods and strips. Nothing compared with latest generation 3D printed details, but I'd like to learn how to use it, but I think it requires skills and knowledge that I can't learn at my age!!! So I'll go on my way and ....avoid desperate close ups!!!!|!šŸ˜œ
  6. Hi again, Here is the second update to my Jaguarsā€™ double build. Paint time. I started with a layer of black. Airfix kitā€¦ ā€¦and Revell kit: Zinc cromate came next, not too heavy, to keek some shade in the darker areas. Next a layer of Futureā€¦ ā€¦and once dry, a wash with Tamiya panel accent black, washed with white spirit. Finally I brush painted the electrical boxes black, the piping silver and electrical cables white. Here and there I used a few colour touches to give a bit of life to the assembly and a layer of Xtracrilics clear matt ended the process. Airfix kit first: Then Revell kit : For the Revell kit, which was my original build, I had detailed the main wing bay doors, At that time I had tried a dry-fit to see what the final look would be. Now, the doorsā€™ opening cylinders and relevant rods are still missing, but this is what the wheel bays look like now, with everything painted. Thatā€™s really it for a while, as Iā€™ll be away from home for a couple of weeks. Itā€™s really good to be back modelling and sharing. Thanks for watching! Ciao Massimo
  7. Hi all, I think I may have solved the problem. I used the wrong links for the pics. Try again!!! Good morning mates and Happy New year! Itā€™s been 3 years since I last posted an update on this topic, but during the lockdown I concentrated on the Ark Royal last commission build and after that I started some more projects, but without any real convinction. During my Christmas Holidays I felt the need to go back to modelling , but didnā€™t want to start anything new, having so many old projects left aside, so I did some work on the Canberra tail, but finally decided it was time to finish the Jaguars, which had been left aside as a lack of mojo had prevented me from finishing the main wheels bays. After so much time, I had forgotten everything about Jaguars, so I started with something easy: the pitots by Master, for which I didnā€™t need a long researchā€¦they hat to be fitted to the front!!! I then added the pylons to the wings of the After a bath in Future, the windscreen was glued to the fuselage. I Purchased a 10 mm Ƙ rod which Iā€™d use as a pedestal to attach the Revell kit to the wooden base and used a bit of it to replace the front camera glass supplied with the kit, which I wasnā€™t happy with. Grinding, filing and polishing followed and the glass effect was far better than the kit offering. https://imgur.com/n6txWUY Mirrors and handles were added to the canopy, which was then glued to the fuselage. I drilled a hole under the fuselage and glued the plastic rod . Then I drilled another hole on a wooden base and the pedestal was done. It isnā€™t fixed yet, but it holds the model. Then I cut some bits of plastic strip to add some detail to the bottom of the flaps and slatsā€™ hinges. After this I got back to work with the main wheel bay and added piping and electrical cables and boxes. It took some time , but at the end I got both models made. Thatā€™s it for now. Thanks for watching! Ciao Massimo
  8. ...EEEHMMM...something must have gone wrong!!!!šŸ¤£ It's been ages since I posted any pics so...please be patient. I'll try again! Back soon!

  10. This build is really astonishing!!!! The detail you've added to the engines is absolutely fantastic!!!! Well done Vitaly!!! Massimo
  11. Great result from an old kit!!! It makes you look forward to build one of these oldies!!!! Well done Adrian!!! Massimo
  12. Hi Crisp, shocking news , but I'm glad you're mending. These bulds will be of help while recovering! I'll be watching closely!!! All the best!!! Massimo
  13. I apologize for the mistake. Got a link instead and it should be ok now. Thanks for reminding! In general I'm not a nose weight lover, expecially for something this big. This is really a beast and I don't want to stress the landing gears with what would be a huge weight which would need a concrete display cabinet, so I've decided I'll pin the wheels to a wooden base and this will keep it in the right posture. Thank you all for the kind feelings for my Treasure! Ciao Massimo
  14. Good afternoon mates, itā€™s been a busy couple of weeks since my last post. During this time, my wife tested positive to covid 19 and was hospitalized with pneumonia. As you can imagne, my thoughts were withe here all the timeand I wasnā€™t really in the mood for modelling. The situation here is getting worse by the day and numbers have never been so bad. Now sheā€™s been transferred to a nursing home and recovering, even if itā€™ll take a looong time and Iā€™ve started relaxing a little, even because both my son and myself have tested negative for the second time in 14 days. So hereI am with a quick update on my progress on the Canberra. Having finished the operator pit, I decided the time had come to glue the fuselage halves together. Tamiya green cap was used along the junction. The junction to the cockpit insert proved a little tricky and superglue was used as a filler, buti t wasnā€™t too bad. I also added the nose wheelbay. Iā€™ll add some detail to it later. A sanding session followed and I was quite happy with the finish. Then I gued the wheelbays into their pit and the wingsā€™ halves together. Engines had been added previousy. Theyā€™ve been there for ages. The enginesā€™ exhausts and their housings had been reduced in thickness. It was one of the first things I had done when i bought the kit: I glued some plastic blocks along the ventral opening to ease the ventral insertā€™s positioning. Once they were dry and strong, I added the ventral insert into its housing. I startedd from the back and went on following the junction line . elastic bands did the rest, keeping the ventral insert pushed against it housing in the fuselage. Another sanding section followed and I got a smooth finish. Panel lines will have to be double checked, but not now! The camera bay here below had to be deleted, Thereā€™s no sign of it in the picture of the real aircraft at this link: https://www.airliners.net/photo/UK-Air-Force/English-Electric-Canberra-PR9/1137469/L?qsp=eJxtjrEOwjAMRP/FcwaUUkDZ6MIIAz9gOQYilTayPVBV/XeaRmJiu7tn%2BW4GGgfjj92nzBB Some surgery was needed to get the part needed of the spare ventral insert from another version of the kit. Superglue and flour were used to fill the gap and a good sanding ended the process. Panel lines will be double cheked, but not now! Being in th mood for surgery, I decided to do some more and remove the original canopyā€™s humpback , tobe replaced by the resin one included in the Hypersonic set. Finally I decided to be brave some more and glued the wings to the fuselage. Faps and wheel baysā€™ detail will be dealt with later. Thatā€™s it for now! Thanks for watching Ciao Massimo
  15. Ok, my previous comment was a joke! I think Adrian got the right words to express my feelings and admiration for the unbelivable job you've done!!! Chapeau!!!! Massimo
  16. WOW!!! I had seen this one in the background of another biplane and have to say it's as good as that one!!!! Great stufff!!! Well done Hendie!!! Massimo
  17. Great result!!! Those red and green lines around the bombs are fatastic!!! The rigging is superb!!! Wonderful stuff!!!!! Well done Hendie!!! Massimo
  18. Ok, ok, the wingfold looks oke, but there's something in the nose weight that doesn't convince me...are you sure it should be like that?
  19. NIce pre-shading and lower side grey!!!! Looks promising!!! Bravo Giorgio!!! Massimo
  20. Well...to be honest I had no idea, but fortunately, by chance, watching another Canberra build, I saw James' topic and I have to thank him for the precision of the info supplied and mostly for suggesting the way to get a very realistic result. I'm just following James' instructions and I'll try to do my best to replicate what I see in the pictures. I assume you'll be using the Pavla set for the nose. I thought about buying it when I got my kit, a few years ago, but then I decided to have some fun trying to replicate it from scratch, which is what I did. About the seat, have you got any pictures showing it? I've found just some "bits"of it as you can see from the pics in the previous page. Now I'll look for some more pics of the tailplanes and then I'll get back towork. I was wondering about opening the battery bay...I'll see. Thanks for the nice comments Ciao Massimo
  21. Good evening mates, it's late and it's been a long day. Anyway I found some time to spend on the tail, which needs some work. Luckily I found this tutorial by @71chally where he shows a clever system to replicate the tailplane in a very realistic way andveryclose to the real thing. So I started getting familiar with this area. The main differencies are the junction between the tailplanes and the fuselage and the curve of the rudder's leading edge. Here below I've marked with a pencil the areas to be removed Here I've modified the right fuseage half. Here I've cut the area which will house the tailplane main block, by the centreline. To insert it the tail cone has to be removed. I'll glue it back once i'm happy with the tailplane in place. The fuselage sections I removed will be glued to the tailplane and move up and down with it. Not much of a progress, but it's one of those works you need to get familiar with first. Thanksforwatching! Good night!!! Massimo
  22. She looks great and she's ready for paint! You dida fantastic job on those fairings!! Aluminium tape does the trick. Well done Giorgio!!! Let's wait for colour now!!!!
