I have a slight problem with this GB. How am I supposed to make any progress on my own build with nearly 80 other builds to keep up to date on? 🙂 George

Nice choice of colour scheme Kris. Should look lovely with the white/camo. George

Yippee! That's good news, will keep an eye out for it. George

Been looking forward to this GB. As I mentioned in the chat, I was looking at my new Legends of WWII calendar only to find a Beaufighter on January so that decided my choice for this GB. For those who didn't know (like me) the Hobby 2000 kit is a re-box of the 1998 Hasegawa kit with some extras, i.e. a canopy mask, resin hedgehog exhausts and different decals which are Cartograf. Guessing the last Hasegawa kit, I built was in the late 70’s, I remember them being very good in those days, so I am really looking forward to trying a modern one. Quite a few parts. Nice colour pictures of the schemes. I am doing the one on the right. Only one more week to wait. George

That is looking great. Who knew that white would go so well with OD. It's really eye catching! George

Thanks Adrian, i don't think anybody knows for sure about the colours. I read a bit somewhere that one of the ground crew said the dark blue was nearly black and they then mixed that with white to get the light blue. I think mine ended up similar to the box art which suited me and it looks nice and colourful in the cabinet. George -

Thanks for the advice @2996 Victor and @AdrianMF i did a bit of both and i think the runway bit looks better. I really enjoyed this kit. Apart from a bit of flash and the canopy being a bit misty i can't really fault it, just a shame they didn't do a razorback. So I guess this is done. Here's a couple of pics, more in the gallery shortly. A big thanks to the Mods and all who have participated in a great GB. Roll on the 6th January and the WW2 Twins GB, hopefully see you all there. Turned out great Craig, really nice. I know they are right, but the tiny roundels on top of the wings look so wrong 😆 George -

Thanks Mark, do you mean do some areas a bit lighter or brown stains perhaps? George -

Time for an update. In between getting side tracked on other builds I have made up the little Jeep. Some bits are obviously over scale, but it is a nice little kit. Also nearly finished the base. I used a Lidl bamboo chopping board. I bought these a couple of years ago as they are a good size for 1/35 AFV’s if you have limited display space like me. Anyway, I stuck on a bit of wet and dry paper and added some static grass. Added a few splodges of brown and tyre marks to break it up a bit. Over sprayed the wet and dry as I thought it was too dark, but now not sure if it is too light. Not really sure if it is supposed to be tarmac or concrete? We all know the P-47 was a big lump, but just as a comparison here is one next to my current build the Arma Yak-1b. George- 53 replies

Thanks for the kind words Gents. Thanks Adrian, I actually thought it is a good kit, only let down by the canopy being a bit cloudy, oh and a bit more flash than we are used to these days. George -

Thanks Stu. I find the AK 3rd gen paints really good. Not sure if others do this, but i always brush a bit of paint out of the airbrush cup on to paper to check it is thin enough before spraying. George -
