  1. Very nice Stephen, what was the build like? Was thinking of doing one of these in faded Greek colours!
  2. Flightpath do resin 1000lb bombs, not sure if they were the type in service in the 60's, but seeing as the design hasn't changed much, probably!
  3. Folks As I gave up modelling 1/72 scale many moons ago I'm having a clear out and have found quite a few bits and bobs for 1/72 Tornado kits, ranging from extra weapons & stores left over from Hasegawa and Airfix kits to some decals and model alliance resin. If your looking for something specific let me know and I'll see if I have it. Don't want to list everything as I want people to get in touch if their actually looking for something not taking it just cause it's free! Might have to charge small postage fee on some items if need be, but feel free to get in touch. Also have a set of Phantom FG1 'Black Mike' decals if anyone wants them! Didn't want to stick this in the Buy/sell area as I ain't actually selling!
  4. Hi Calum The standard colour for the Lightning gear and bays is silver, what Airfix is referring to is the two RAFG Lightning Squadrons used/tested a gold coloured grease like coating on the legs and bays to prevent corrosion. I have seen plenty photo's with the aircraft from these squadrons with and without the coating. If you wanted to depict the an aircraft with the coating some sort of gold wash would do the trick, painting the legs etc gold as suggested by Airfix wouldn't depict the effect very well. HTH Muzz
  5. I think the recce kit has been removed now.
  6. Thanks for that chaps, I have the Phantom v MIG 21 Osprey book and theres 1 or 2 grainy b&w pictures of camo examples but they appear to be the ones that have been roughly over sprayed on the upper surfaces. It's the one that you mention Jennings that I like the look of, the overall dark green one but not seen any photographic evidence. I'll try looking some more on the internet tonight.
  7. Calum I take it your fitting the kit cockpit and not an AM set? I fitted the Airies set to mine and can't really remember the details of it, have you tried lining the rear bulk head up, if you get that sitting right the rest should follow. Sorry not much help!
  8. Ah cheers, I feel better already!
  9. Ha, there was me thinking £20 was a good price if anyone was looking for one! Just goes to show, I got my PR9 on pre order when it came out for £35 probably after p&p and it's still sitting untouched, oh the money I could save! Ok, we could turn this into a 'What we've wasted our money on' thread instead!
  10. Was in Wonderland Models today and saw that they have the Airfix range of 1/48 Canberra's for just under £20 which I thought was a pretty good deal. I've already got a PR9 in the stash so resisted the temptation!
  11. Does anyone know where I can get references for camouflaged VPAF MIG-21's, I quite fancy doing a rather weathered camo one but the majority of photo's show NMF examples. Someone on here as a side profile of one on their Vietnam War GB banner but I can't find it just now. I wondered if maybe the Osprey book, MIG-21 Units of the V War was any good?
  12. Jens A worthy winner, cracking paint job, what paints did you use? I have one of these in the stash, could be my next build, any tips?
  13. Calum I built an F2 a couple of years ago and found the Airies cockpit to fit really well, the usual thinning of resin and plastic is required. I also bought the Aeroclub nose weight and seem to recall deciding not to use the radome part, don't forget they do the nose ring too which comes really good with a bit of wire wool. I've not used it but I'm pretty sure the Two Mikes intake cover is intended to be used as a paint mask for the radome initially if you want, then the centre part should be removed and the ring part painted as required and used as the intake cover. If that makes sense!! Muzz
  14. Very nice, where did you get the intake covers and the RBF tags from? They really look the part.
  15. Hi Simon I'm no F111 expert but I have the HB kit which I'm planning to do at some point so I bought Ken Neubeck's Walk Round book. There's three or four pretty good b&w and colour photos of the F111B in that, might be worth you getting a hold of it. I'll try and answer some of your questions; there's a couple of photo's of them landing (one on a carrier) with slats deployed and the wing glove vane is rotated like other F111, however there is one picture with slats deployed and it doesn't have the the wing glove vane rotated. The slats on this aircraft appear to run right up to where the wing enters the wing glove. Only the very front of the slat is natural metal on top with the rest being painted grey and what looks like the entire underside of the slat is natural metal. The control surfaces on the trailing edges of the main wings are painted white, as is the rudder and some examples appear to have the whole of the Stabs painted white, with one example painted grey with the outer tips painted white. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info. Muzz
  16. Very nice, like the paint work, always fancied doing one of these HB kits.
  17. There standard British 1000lb bombs, the ones being carried are training weapons filled with concrete, hence the blue colour.
  18. I've had a lot of good dealings with them, I know they can be a wee bit on the expensive side but just last week I ordered a load of Paragon stuff before they sold out (forever!) and noticed a few items were marked as "1 in stock", after I'd placed my order I noticed these items dropped off the site as they were now out off stock and my items turned up a few days later all present and correct! Now got lots of nice Tornado and Jag bits to use!
  19. Hi It's a 2000D and can possibly just make out the tail markings showing it to be a EC3/3 Ardennes squadron operating out of Nancy (but not 100% sure). The pod looks like a PDLCT-S targeting pod and thats a pair of GBU-12's on the centre station (could also be GBU-49's which are enhanced GBU-12's). AFM has an article on French 2000D ops in this months issue.
  20. Hi Ian Is there a Can Opener involved? There's a post on here under Aviation Photography showing the 10 aircraft leaving for G del C on Sunday and there's a mix of Sqn colours but no 6.
  21. My kits arrived today and not charged p&p as promised! Surprised to see I got masks and some PE with the overtrees kit too.
  22. Mine shown as in progress too! I'm not in any rush for it, as long as it gets here!
  23. I ordered mine plus overtrees on the 17 Feb so again well within the cut off date, I'll log in and try that. Hope they haven't cancelled mine.
