Last few bits done before getting photos done and up tomorrow. Seats done and cockpit bits added. And just the Litening pod to add as well as a couple of antennas to the fin. The pods out the Hasegawa weapons set, just turned upside down so the air scoops on the correct side.

This arrived at my house today, itching to get started on it! The fuselage section is a heavy lump.

Hi Werner, your more than welcome, front and centre! I'm planning on some rather rusty looking FAB-500 and 250 bombs. I'll try and find the photo I'm going by. Found one, this image has been shared on Twitter of all places!

My current build in the Tornado GB is drawing to a close so it was time to decide on the next project. I've had a couple of Trumpeters Mig-23/27 in the stash for a while now and previously built their Mig-23MF which I really enjoyed. I like the look of the BN and the 27 but not the Trumpeter interpretation! So I got hold of the Cold War Studios correction set. I've also recently got some interesting decals for Syrian Migs as I like the idea of doing a war weary weathered example. The CWS set is the updated version which appears to have an improved nose with finer panel lines and cleaner molding. The fuselage parts remain the same and aren't as crisply molded so it'll involve a bit of cleaning up. I did consider a compromise of only using the nose from the CWS set as the clear parts are going to need a lot of work. But when you look at the difference in shape and size of the kit canopy and the CWS parts I've decided to do the whole conversion.

1/32 - MRCA Tornado by Italeri - GR.4, ECR & IDS released
Muzz replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Definately not Light Aircraft Grey, it was only an under surface colour on the F3. The tanks were the main camo colour of Camo grey (known as Barley Grey then) or MSG later in service. -
SAOEU became the FJOEU and didnt get renamed 41 Sqn until the late 00's. 41 was still an operational Jag sqn in 1991. Think JagRigger is saying the airframe was with 54 Sqn at the time of OP Granby.
-
SAOEU was the Strike Attack Operational Evaluation Unit. Became 41 (Reserve ) Sqn I think.

I seem to recall now, ARTF, is very close if not the actual colour of matt Camouflage Grey (Barley Grey). -

I assumed he was talking about the main airframe colour call out. Tornado cockpits definitely dark admiralty grey. -

Here’s a brief discussion on the forum from a few years ago which might help.......... https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234950356-artf-grey/ I’d say ARTF grey was a lighter grey than MSG too, don’t know anything about humbrol colours as I don’t use them so can’t comment on H147. -
Kinda looks like they’ve added the scheme from Top Gun Maverick as a decal option without realising what it is!
-
Long overdue an update................. Near the finish line and where I always slow to a snails pace! I managed to get hold of a Master pitot (they seem to have been in short supply up until recently) and it's now fitted, still needs some paint on it. Undercarriage and doors are on as well as the after burner cans and thrust reverse doors. Canopy masks removed And standing on the gear.

Just caught up on this, it's looking great Colin!

Noticed that on their email, I assume that means this is the end of the run for this boxing but doesnt mean they wont release another boxing in the future?

617 Sqn 70th Anniversary Special Tail GR4s question
Muzz replied to bobsyouruncle's topic in Aircraft Modern
This is apparently ZA412 seen on finals with a Litening pod fitted. https://www.flickriver.com/photos/113339808@N08/40394057323/ Edit - further enquiry I’d say this is actually ZA492, going by the what can be seen of the crew names and replacement panels. -
Think the Revell kit is widely regarded as the best going, although it may have issue with the radome shape. Theres aftermarket resin radome for it. I've built the Hasegawa kit many, many years ago which is also good but maybe hard to come by now. Whichever one you go for there both GR1's so you'll need a FLIR sensor for the port side of the forward lower fuselage.

Looks interesting and already well under way, their suggesting release in early 2021.

1/32 - MRCA Tornado by Italeri - GR.4, ECR & IDS released

I think its RRP is £139.99 but can be picked up without much fuss from various vendors for under £120. -

I’m just finishing the Revell 1/48 kit and didn’t think I’d want to start another Tornado but this kit is making me! It’s an old cliche but think I will hold off and wait and see what aftermarket items are released (Quinta Studios cockpit?), as you say the TIRRS pack would be great, CBLS pods and I imagine a few company’s will release decals. -

I've not had a proper look at the plastic yet but nothing I can see is missing, 1500lt tanks would have been good and maybe some BOL rails but that would just really be the icing on the cake. -

And the option of fitting the TCAS system. This is looking like a lovely kit. -

My kit arrived mid week but I've been away with work and have just got my paws on it. First thing I've noticed which I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere is that there is an option with the rear cockpit, the older round GR1/GR4 central display or TARDIS display. Really pleased to see this and surprised I've not seen anyone mention it.
