Great pics and video, some inspiration for an upcoming build! What’s the centre store on on the aircraft at 2.21? Looks like a finless stand off missile of some description?
-
Ah yes sorry Mithril Silver. I have three pots of Citadel colours from a few years ago, great paints for brush painting, didnt realise they'd changed them.

My weapons set arrived on Tuesday, got a text from RM saying it had passed customs on Sunday night. No sign of the actual kit though, starting to get concerned that it gone walkabout!

No issues, great fit all round. I needed a wee bit Mr Surfacer for some of the main fuselage joins but that may have been my own doing. Thinned with Mr Muscle window cleaner, which certainly thinned it but could have done with a drop of retarder in it too as it was drying on the tip of the needle. Gave it a second coat thinned with Hataka acrylic thinners which worked a lot better but left a tacky surface, think its finally dried 2 days on. I thought my previous issues with Hataka was just down to the paint but it appears the thinners caused other manufacturers paints to act in a similar manner.

A quick update, wings finished in Citadel Merthil Silver for the silver painted areas, fuselage and flying surfaces in AK Xtreme Metals Aluminium. Surface detail looks great with the Xtreme metals paint. Next up will be a splash of colour!

Primer on, Alclad grey for painted areas and Alclad black base for NMF.
-
Some more progress, almost ready for primer.....

It's a lovely kit, picked mine up for £31 which I think is really decent for what you get.

Fuselage together and the wings are on. The builds gone together perfectly so far other than a bit of a lack of locating tabs for the fuselage halfs. Maybe I was too rushed in my approach but definately felt like Eduard could have done better here, I ended up with a small step on nearly all the joins. Cleaned up with some sanding and Mr Surfacer. One area that did fit exceptionally well was the main wing to the fuselage near perfect join. And the cockpit instrument panel and coaming are a perfect fit, not even going to bother with any cement.
-
Some more work done on the Mustang, the instrument panel is made up of 3 laminated pieces of PE with raised instruments. Makes for an impressive effect.
-
Cheers Allan, I had a look at the proposed UK prices and decided to go ahead with my order as I reckon the weapons set will retail around £20 so not as bad as first impression imho.
-
The main gear box in place in the lower wing half.
-
Main landing gear bay completed, painted Xtreme Metals Aluminium and Tamyia Yellow Green with a wash to dirty it up a bit.
-
Cockpit sides fitted to the fuselage parts, some nice PE parts, I chose not to use all the PE as detail on the plastic is pretty nice.
-
Cockpit painted up with Tamiya paints and ready for install...........

So never built a kit with a spinny thing at the front (or back) end for 25 - 30 years. It's been modern/cold war jets since I picked the hobby up again 14 years ago. However sometimes you see a kit that looks so good you just want to build it whatever it may be. The Eduard Mustang kit is one such kit for me. Will be built out the box as 'Marie', silver/NMF finish with yellow tale.

That’s perfect Mike thanks, yeh I’ve used it for many years and it always ends up getting a bit thick towards the end of the bottle, I also find their black primer a bit troublesome drying on the needle tip etc. I’ve used Cellulose thinners before but didn’t know if you could use anything else. Mr Levelling Thinners is my thinner of choice so that’s perfect! Cheers Muzz

I get the impression it depends on the sorting office in the UK, I’ve had many kits from the Far East largest of which was the Trumpeter 1/48 Su-24 Fencer and only ever paid the price of the kit and usually about £10 p&p although I recall the Fencer being about £15. Here’s hoping I’ve not just cursed it for me!
-
You wont know that until the kit arrives in the mail system in the UK. Personally I've never had an issue with this and never had to pay extra.
-
Mmmmmm, just had an email from hobbyeasy, the kit will be sent in a few days. However due to the free weapons set the postage is going to cost almost as much as the kit, £84 in total!! £40 p&p to the UK. Order been placed for a year (almost to the day), I may now cancel and wait until it arrives in the UK, could possibly buy two kits for that price.

Looking to see if anyone can suggest a good thinner for Alclad primer, I’m thinking Cellulose thinners is possibly the only option? Regards Muzz

It would certainly have been able to carry them, I'm assuming the Kormoran is similar in size to the Sea Eagle. The Bucc was capable of carrying four Sea Eagles. Muzz
