It's the same launch rail and think it was introduced on to the Tornado F3 fleet in 2002.

Tornado GR.1 "Gulf War" (03892) 1:32 - Gulf war colours
Muzz replied to Denis's topic in Aircraft Modern
I think Denis is asking about spray paint in cans, not sure what you have as an equivalent in Canada but in the UK the main source (other than Tamyia spray cans) would be a Halfords which is a car/bike parts and tool store. The aircraft faded and weathered quickly and the paint touched up in theatre. The main touch up colour appears to have been a car paint, Leyland Blush I think it was. I'd suggest looking at your equivalent auto parts or DIY store and choose the closest tan/beige colour match if spray cans is the route you're looking to go down. -
Been working on the intakes, as I mentioned on a previous post I decided against the resin intakes as it was going to require a lot of resin to be sanded off. I sprayed the trunking MRP white and hand painted the engine faces with Citadel silver. Test fitting showed that the bottom of the intakes were going to sit proud so I cut a slot in the side so the bottom could be pushed in a fraction. Both lower sections of the intakes are part of the lower fuselage half. One of them broke off anyway as I was joining the halfs and i decided this would probably help so cut the other off as well. Joined to the intakes and cleaned up before fitting them. Along with the trunking I decided to paint the intake lips to save on any awkward masking jobs, primed with gloss black and then sprayed Xtreme metals chrome.

Just found and caught up with this build! Great work, surprised at your choice of finish thought you'd stay loyal and do a FRADU scheme!- 68 replies

I seen you had done that Colin, might go down that route. My kit was a two kit boxing and I think it came with one of each set, I put the short ones on the first build. I swapped sprues containing the bomb bay with someone on here a while back so that I had another bulged bay, think I acquired another long set during this transaction, hence why I have two!
-
No doubt it will be possible, might just take the lazy option though!
-
Mmmmmm, putting the wings together and noticed I have two sets of the long wing tips and no short ones, anyone able to swap or got a short pair they won’t require?
-
Nothing like putting me under pressure! After some rapid progress, things have slowed down slightly with the mundane task of applying Mr Surfacer to the joins, sanding back and then adding some more! Pretty much done now though. You can see where there is also quite bad flow lines in the surface of the plastic which have also required a bit of Mr Surfacer, the port side being worse than the starboard. I've had a look at the intake options and as with my last build I've decided to forget about the resin Heratige set, there would be quite a bit of work involved in blending them into the fuselage for not a lot of gain.

New 1/48 decals out for the Bucc from Kits World, two sets, test aircraft in one and RN/RAF in the other! https://www.kitsworld.co.uk/index.php?CATEGORY=4&SUB=21

Cheers, yeh it's going well, you forget how few parts there are! I've started to do a bit of detailing to the main gear bays. I'm need to scratch the S shaped ducting that comes out the front wall of the bays and goes into the roof of the bay, it's pretty poorly recreated by Airfix. I've tried a few things but nothing suitable so far.

Thanks for all the comments. I think I've tamed the beast........ front fuselage joined last night using quick dry Tamyia extra thin. Followed by main wing sections, then front intake area and rear fuselage this morning.....
-
Ah, so it flew with it open to allow the carriage of the larger stores with the fairing at the front. Get it now, dont think I recall being aware of that fit before, interesting.

Are going to be doing the kit with the bomb bay open then? I take it the Freightdog set is for the internals?

Got the cockpit fitted into the upper fuselage without issue, fixed the sidewalls to the main tub first, not an exact fit but good enough and the main fuselage side hide any gaps. Still a little bit to do but bar the seats pretty much done and will allow the joining of the fuselage.
-
Cheers, yeh maybe doing too much research as seeing photos of XW547 is making me think twice about the colour scheme!
-
The correct colour I believe should be Dark Admiralty Grey, for some reason nobody really does it so I used Medium Sea Grey and added a few drops of Dark Sea Grey, the dark wash has darkened it a bit as well. Used Akan paints to brush paint the detail and then given a satin varnish before the wash as I find Akan paints aren't very robust.
-
The cockpit is very nice, a little rough round the edges but cleans up nicely. I've been getting on with it making good progress........ Got the cockpit coaming or dash (whatever you call it) in place and the cockpit painted up. I had some left over AirScale Soviet instrument decals left over from another project and decided to use them, for the size of them I didnt see the point in buying NATO ones, just tried to find similar in what I had.
-
Started painting up the neomega cockpit, whilst waiting on paint drying, tidying up the fuselage parts (some light flash around the joining edges) and preparing the cockpit area for the resin aftermarket cockpit. Requires the removal of the limited sidewall detail and the front coaming. The part needing removed and the new resin part already given a coat of rubber black.
-
First job was to clean up the Neomega cockpit parts and remove the casting blocks...... All done..........
