Nice, like the dual air to ground pylons, not seen them before in a kit, I like the way windscreen is moulded too.

Unless your ordering direct from a Far East retailer, maybe not, some of GWH previous releases have taken an age to reach these shores, December/January anyone?

Tamiya F-16 is certainly a good shout, on the cheaper end of the scale what about the Airfix Lightning F6 kit? It goes together pretty easily, it’s accurate and you should be able to pick up recent boxing with good decals for a reasonable price. If you’ve already built an Airfix Lightning then Kinetic kits are pretty decent I’ve built a few of their kits. Their instructions are never usually the best but the kits are decent, their Mirage III is a nice kit IMHO. Also just remembered about the Hasegawa F-104 Starfighter, building the Eduard boxing at the moment in RNLAF markings, lovely kit. The recent Kinetic F-104 is apparently a lovely kit too!

If it were me I'd go for Hataka, I use there Orange line which are lacquer based, you can get individual paints or sets, the Typhoon one would suit your needs. Colours there for you to do a Barley Grey/LAG scheme or MSG. http://hataka-hobby.com/products/modern-royal-air-force-paint-set-vol-1/

According to Scalemates Eduard has done a boxing of the Airfix kit around 2008! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/airfix-a05119-supermarine-spitfire-prxix--174732

Absolutely Cliff, everything fixed in place. Definately want to do one folded up at some point but it seems such a shame to break up the lines of the jet, maybe when someone eventually releases a new tool in 1/48!

I had a similar issue lately with Buccaneer intakes, I sprayed the intake colour then hand painted the blades, those intakes were deeper than yours though so it was easier to hide any imperfections. I'd most likely mask the individual blades if I was in your position, will take a bit of time but be worth it.

Got the main components together, had thought about having the wings folded or air brake open, or both but decided to display it in all its glory.

Great work, you made that look easy! A very nice collection too, the S1 looks very attractive in anti-flash white!

Humbrol 28 - Matt Camouflage Grey as a low-vis underside?
Muzz replied to PaintPot's topic in Aircraft Modern
The grey scheme that Buccaneers appeared in before their retirement was also Medium Sea Grey over Barley Grey. -
Quite a complicated shape I suppose for tooling that was manufactured in the 90's.

Thought I'd try putting one of the slipper tanks together. Think I now know why you dont see many 1/48 Airfix kits fitted with them! Like wee puzzles out an xmas cracker! Still needs some tidying up.

Cheers chaps, as luck would have it I only had an image of the other side.

Hi Wayne, you've posted in the wrong area, hopefully a mod will move it to the military section. Yes it's a Revell re-release of the GR4 kit presumably with decal schemes of the specially marked retirement aircraft. I have 2 kits on order as there a good price and you haven't been able to get a hold of the GR4 for love nor money!

Trying to work out if this is an error with the Airfix kit, the access panels on top of the fuselage are not the same on each side, the port one is sort of missing and is sunk in to the surface by about 1mm. The starboard one appears as normal panel with rivet detail.
-
I have also decided not to be lazy and leave the long wing tips, cut them back and sanded to profile the short style wing tips, I've also added a bit of clear sprue to the tip for the nav lights.

Long overdue update but not a great deal to show. Being doing a wee bit of work on the fuselage to add some more detail. Drilled out a vent on the starboard intake which is poorly represented out the box. Plan is to use a PE part from the Eduard detail set which is intended for a similar vent on the lower rear fuselage that nobody will see. Drilled out the small duct on the lower fuselage and sanded to make into oval shape instead of the original squared off look. Also added the ngine exhaust's which I dont remember being such a bad fit, but they are! I added some riveting to them before fitting which was a bit of a waste of time as some has been sanded away.

Think the Bol rails would have been introduced in 2003 for OP Telic.
