  1. work with it. one of my club members did and awesome job on his. every one thought it was a big name kit. Pegasus is doing great things at great prices for many different kinds of modelers... Big Bill
  2. No filler at all and only a few evenings to finish. these kits are great for all levels. I hust brought several to a show and everyone thought they were expensive kits!!!!try one out of the box, you will get hooked. Big Bill
  3. There were 2 types and that one is right. look at some pics of b and c models and you will see/ it's even on the box art of the tamiya 1/48th scale kit. Big Bill
  4. Hi all I wanted you guys to get a kick out of this kit. They are designed from the studio models and are accurate as far as the studio models go!This one is part of the diorama kit but i wanted to make a small vignette instead of using the large base with the diorama set. The whole project took about 4 hours. I snapped it all together, did the seam work with thick CA, buffed the plastic and shot it with a green I had used on a real motorcycle! It is a Boyd Coddington color "Sublime Green" It captured the effect I was looking for. I think Testors at one time made this colortoo. After that dried I shot the coppe gold color, which is copper from the Testors little square bottle section that they make. I lightly sanded, buffed and layed on many light thin coats of metalizer sealer to get the sheen back. I then did the base which is 3" square with sculptamold, home cast rocks, kitty litter and other supplies from my model railroad. If you look close from the top shot you can see those 3 guys that were waving the sugar sack trying to make first contact and friends. as you can see they are "TOAST"they were on the diorama base from the kit. I lifted them off with a #11 blade, glued them to the vignette and did some dry brushing and washing for the I was just death rayed effect! Enjoy. The death ray eye as from the kit, painted with orange and yellow Tamiya clear acrylics. This kit was fun and quick to achieve results. If yu need any info, email me at [email protected]. Thanks, Big Bill Schwarz, President NJIPMS
  5. Hi all! sorry it's been awhile so here it go's. this is the second EZ snap of the series I have built and this is by far the best one yet. All of them are really good but "Pegasus Hobbies" tries to make each one better then the last! This time up it's the Birdcage mustang. ( Its there newest one)It has about 33 parts, a real nice interior and way better landing gear then on previous kits from this series though the others werent that bad! The model is built out of the box with the exception of a gunsight, antennae, and aftermarket decals. Pegasus offers stickers and decals but I wanted to do something different. This time I used The Eagle strike Birdcage mustang sheet for the Hun hunter which is an eye catcher. It is done in Extracolor RAF dark green over Natural metal which was done with Floquil old silver which came from a bottle I had for 15 some odd years!!! Woked great with the last of my original dio sol!!!! The white ID bands were masked and painted as well.after a sludge wash of burnt umber, I used xtraacrylic flat, which is the best flat I have ever used!!!! Thanks hannants!!!! If you need to know more about these kits email me at [email protected], These kits can be built by anyone and are a great canvas for a senior or master modeller. They build quick and look great!!!Try one, you will like it!!! Big Bill Schwarz, President NJIPMS
  6. Hi All! I got this model at the IPMS Nationals in Virginia Beach last year and it just screamed build me. It is a total EZ snap kit from Pegasus Hobbies. Larry and Scott have done a great service to the modeling community with these kits. Interesting subjects,cheap,48th scale, cheap, nice looking, cheap,ez to build, cheap, and look like what they are supposed to and did I say cheap? 10 bucks for this one. Outside of the landing gear which is to heavy, but makes a very sturdy model, these kits are great. Masters and beginners can do one of these and make them look great. Mine was out of the box with a few tweaks. I wanted to do this to show potential club members you can build, make it look nice and not spend tons of money. Like I said,It is built out of the box, I blanked the areas in the front and rear of the cockpit tub, added the antennea and FOD covers, and did all of the markings with the exception of the tiny data stencils with the Montex Mask system. The colors are RLM 74,75,and76 and are of course Extracolor enamels shot with laquer thinner. The top coats are thinned extra acrylic shot with the house thinner. The base is one of a hundred or so clock bases a friend of mine gave me over 20 years ago. It is finished with craft sticks, sculptamold, static grass and ground foam, and various other model railroad products. Try one! You will like it.fun, fast and did I say CHEAP???? Go for it. My club NJIPMS is doing a group build using 25 of these models and will be on display at many upcoming shows. If you need more info, emasil me at [email protected] Regards, Big Bill Schwarz, President, NJIPMS
  7. Hi All! My Fun Phantom "Ready for inspection" I built this over the last 3 evenings for bit of humor when I go to the Nationals this week. It's the Hasegawa EGG PHANTOM which resembles a USAF "E "model, but I Navalized it. It's done Out of the Box, painted with "Low Vis" Extracolor enamels, and Markings from my spares box. The "Spook" is also done "Low Vis" This was a fun and quick project and I will be displaying it at the Nationals this week in Virginia Beach. Hope everyone likes it. If you want to build one and need any tips, give me a call at [email protected]
  8. I have all the scratchbuilding done, control surface actuators various lumps and bumps, and wheel well and speed brake interior plumbing,as well as the interior. A final sanding, add the canopy, light rescribe and PAINT!!!!! I only have 4 weeks till the IPMS Nationals so I got start moving! LOL. Comments to me at [email protected]
  9. If anyone can shoot me a pic of the navigation lights on the wings, tail, etc, I sure can use them. Thanks for the help in advance, Regards, Big Bill Email me at [email protected]
  10. Thanks all for the great comments. My mistake for the Battle of Brittan though. It's supposed to be somewhere in Italy. In my haste I just plain forgot other then it's an Emil with a yellow nose! My appologize to everyone, More stuff to come soon. My Vulcan and Jag are progressing. More pics next week! Thanks again, Regards, Big bill
  11. Robbie is from the Polar lights kit and is finished mostly from the box. I reconfigured the transducers on his head to more resemble the real ones. It is finished in various shades of metalizer, and his overall body was shot with heavy dark grey primer and dry brushed to give it a texture. The altair 4 base is done with model railroad static grass air brushed and washed with various shades or blue, crimson, tan and grey. A little kitty litter was mixed in as well. The little grey is the stock testors little grey in 6th scale. He was shot with light grey auto primer and lightly washed to highlight it. The base is done with model railroad supplies and the larger rocks are actually pieces or real rock that came from the infamous perimeter road of THE REAL AREA 51. I rode out there to have a look when i went to Las Vegas on a vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Real story!!!! I have pics Hope you like! Email me if you would like to see some more of my Sci Fi stuff!!!! Big Bill
  12. Hi Fellows, This is another I promised to show everyone. This time it's the Tamiya 1/48th scale BF 109 E-4/7. It is built strictly Out of the box/ This was a wonderful kit to build. It is finished in extracolrs in RLM 74,75,and 76 with 02 and 74 mottliing. I used the kits decals which is a first for me in many years! They worked quite well too! I washed and weathered it with artist watercolors and flat coated it with XTRAACRYLIC Flat coats. The base is an old clock base with items stolen from my model railroad supplies. Hope you like it! Thanks, Big Bill
  13. Hi everyone! as promised some more of my stuff to share with britmodeller. This time it's an original 60's vintage Fokker Dr1 Triplane. It has enhancements in the cockpit, on the guns and on the airframe, using plastic, brass rod and PE parts from Various sources. The intake tubes are from aluminum tube and the stirrups and bracing are from fine brass wire. The painting was done with dark grey extracolor enamel shot with laquer thinner.( I don't use pure black. I believe it kills the scale effect!) The decals are from Copper State and the prop which is handcarved is from Marty Dagmier. The pilot was made to resemble Jacobs and was provided with the kit. The base is foamboard, enhansed with various items from my model railroad. I hope you enjoy this golden oldie and if you have any questions, shoot me over an email. Oh yes, 1 more thing, The engine is the proper Clerget that Jacobs used in this tripe. It is also an old Revell part that someone over at H/S Graciously donated to me for this project!!!!! Thanks for your time, Big Bill
  14. As promised I will be displaying more of my work for my fellow britmodellers to see. This is a recent build but not to recent. It is an early B Komet of Wulf Spate, the day before he made the grpund crew camo it! It is a 1960's Real Vintage HAWK Models kit. I rescribed it, formed a new canopy, and added a Lone Star models interior kit. I scratch built alot of interior parts as well. The cannon barrels were extended on this particular Komet. I made them from Brass tubing. The decals are from an old scalemaster sheet and my spares box. The painting was done in RLM ROT 23 and is extracolor enamels, shot with laquer thinner and washed with artists water colors then flat coated with my last bottle of REAL Polly S Flat Clear. Any Questions? feel free to contact me. The Figure was a converted CMK bomber pilot, and the base has craft sticks, kitty litter, home cast rocks and various foliage from my model railroad. It was fun to bring this old kit up to todays standards, I have somewhere in the vicinity of 15 US Dollars into the whole project. Theres lots of great old kits out there to try!!! Enjoy, Big Bill
