Hi Matt, this looks a cracking build. I have just bought some of this primer, do you thin it with anything before airbrushing or do you use it neat? Ben

Update to the previous post. The re-scribing isn't actually a disaster after all. After sanding them down a bit they don't actually look too bad. I think I will very carefully do this all over as the out of box panel lines are pretty insignificant. Ben Thanks for the tip, Clive. I'll be sure to give that a go going forwards. Ben.

Hi, Rob. This looks fun. I'll be along for the ride.

Had a bit of a go in my lunch break since I'm working from home again. Wasn't at all happy with the wing root joins in the previous post so I have tried to sand them down further. The port wing root doesn't so much have a gap as a step so I tried to file and sand this away. After re-priming one side (can ran out before I could do everywhere I noticed that the panel lines had started to fill in, not that they were deep anyway. Next, a moment of madness ensued. I thought I would attempt to rescribe the panel lines with my newly arrived Tamiya scriber. However, this didn't go too well. None of the lines I have done have come out straight and they look like they have pretty much wrecked it: Is there a good way to get straight panel lines on a curved surface? Not entirely sure how to go on from here. I could sand them down and have no panel lines or I could attempt to smarten them up and risk making them worse or deeper. Or I guess I could leave them as is. Not sure really. Would like to rescue it one way or another after all the work on the engine and the cockpit. On a positive note I have painted the wheels (Tamiya Rubber Black and Humbrol Aluminium). The other sets are for my 1/72 Hunter and Spitfires: Ben.

Hi All, another lunch hour spray job. Camouflage back on for the second time and fairly pleased with it. Just waiting for her to dry before trying out the W&N Galeria as a gloss coat. Still wish I had taken more time to get a better sanded finish on the wing roots. Hopefully it will be sticker time tomorrow.

Thanks, Plasto. I think I'm just going to play it safe and avoid anything that has a liquid form from Humbrol. Thanks, Mikey. Appreciated!

1/72 Airfix 'Bronze' Hurricanes +++COMPLETED+++

Nice work. What paint are you using? They look great on the shelf. Ben -
Just sprayed over. Wouldn't know how to strip it back without damaging it.

Yup. Won't be using it again. I've had it do it before on a starter kit brushed with Humbrol acrylics followed by their Clear. Ben

Hi All and happy new year. Back to the Beer Delivery after getting sidetracked with my Hunter. Not a great return I have got the cockpit masked and fitted but when I came to rescribing the panel lines at the wing roots I seem to have pulled out pretty much all the filler. I have primed with Humbrol grey rattle can primer as my black one ran out after covering one wing. Not at all happy with the result. I think I will re-fill and rescribe and re-prime. The cannon Bay covers are only there to keep paint out as the intention is to have them open.

And the white highlights for a second time. Now for the pub. Grey coat will depend on how many pints are consumed this afternoon!

Decision made. Complete re-spray. Will add some white in the centre of the panels as before but will then give a full coat of grey and then mask out the green regions unlike before where I masked out both colours. My W&N Galeria arrived this morning so I will use that as the gloss coat. May through the Humbrol sauce in the bin.

Not entirely sure what's going on here. The Humbrol Clear seems to have gone cloudy in a couple of places. Could this be due to perhaps using too thick a coat or is there a know compatibility issue with Tamiya paints? Question now is - re-paint or press on to the stickers?

Thanks, Justin. It is indeed a good kit, especially for one three years old than I! Quite aware and should have spent more time sanding. A lesson for the future. Ben

And the first gloss coat. Humbrol Clear applied with a flat brush. I have some W&N Galeria in the post which I'm hoping to spray on the Beer Deliver Spitfire. I suppose I should leave the Hunter to cure overnight before decaling or applying another coat. May be time to start something new in parallel...

Excellent work. Really like the weathering on the rocket pods.

Superb work. It's the one kit I always find myself drawn to in the hobby shop but for now it would take up too much space wherever I would display it.

Hello, sorry for coming to this late but after reading this thread I've just ordered myself a half litre pot of W&N. How many coats and at what pressure do you usually spray it?
-
Thank you, Sir! Thank you. Very happy with these Tamiya Raf colours, I think they brought them out for their 1/32 Spitfire. I wish they would bring out a proper RLM range as I have a few Luftwaffe birds in the stash but waiting for the right paints.

I have one of these in the stash so will be keeping a keen eye on this build. Great work so far!

And some XF-81 Dark Green 2 (RAF). Not overly happy with the seams between the two colours but I guess that is something that comes with practice. Will let her dry overnight and will get the clear coat in the morning and hopefully decals on Sunday. Thank you for following so far. Heads up for anybody that doesn't already know - Tamiya tape really likes to pull up Tamiya flat aluminium, but in my case I think it adds a nice worn look...

Early 'lunch' break. So, masking. What a pain in the other end. Probably my least favourite job out of the whole process. Anyway, must be done. And some worms, these are more for just guidance here as it will be the green that will need accurate masking. And on with some Tamiya XF-82 RAF Ocean Grey thinned 4 paint to 6 thinners. Again, the shading isn't coming through too well on the image below but there is definitely a subtle tonal variation to the naked eye. I think I will do some gentle post-shading and highlighting when all is done. That's all for now and wishing everybody a happy Friday. Ben
