  1. Hi I have just completed my first F-14 1/48 model and applied Flory Dark Dirt Wash after finishing the decals and applying Future on top. I am wondering it it looks ok, I left the Wash for 20mins and wiped off some of it but I am wondering if i have left too much still on , does it still correct or too dirty/grimy? 2. Hi I am new to creating dioramas so was wondering if anyone can recommend products for a ocean diorama which will involve a submarine and aircraft carrier please? Something like this. http://blog.naver.com/PostThumbnailView.nhn? http://blog.naver.com/PostThumbnailView.nhn?blogId=wepman3&logNo=10141154369&categoryNo=10&parentCategoryNo= I think I can use an epoxy resin and some acrylics but if someone can kindly offer further advise that would be great. https://www.emodels.co.uk/ak-interactive-180ml-resin-water-2-components-epoxy-resin-8044.html   Dee
  3. Hi Does anyone know if there is anywhere you can get modifications to improve this 1/720 USS enterprise model. ie a new island for example? Thanks in advance for any replies. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Revell-05046-U-S-S-Enterprise-Model/dp/B0000BX89M/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_pdt_img_top?ie=UTF8

  5. Hi, I am new to modelling and was building my F-14 1/48 Tomcat , primed and airbrush painted and was about to put some decals on it after applying a coat of future and then the Flory Dark dirt wash. But I realized after reading online that I should have pre shaded it as well which is one step I have missed. I guess there is not much I can do now unless I remove the Future polish , pre shade (and maybe post shade) and reapply the main fuselage colour? also to add I was trying to copy this F-14 so not sure if it has been pre shaded?
  6. Hi, I am new to modelling and have just built (primed with Tamiya Primer) a few Model Jets. I have some Model Master acrylics /Mr Hobby Color and Tamiya Acrylics. I would have liked to have airbrushed some of the models outside now in the garden but as its winter time the weathers not ideal. I do not have a spray booth and I do not think a booth costing less than £100 would be suitable for Mr Hobby Type solvent paints? I do have a shed outside which I could heat up and airbrush inside, the only problem is I would need to keep it heated for many hours whilst the models dried and the spray could contaminate other items in the shed. I was wondering what others do? maybe I should just wait until Spring/ Summer? Dee
  7. Just for a couple weeks so not long. Ok will try to clean nozzle
  8. Hi I am using the Tamiya Grey Primer which I have used before and now it is spraying little bits of paint as well rather than all smooth. I warm up my can and shake as usual so not sure why this would be happening. I have sanded off the bits (as I thought it was something to do with the surface of the model) and resprayed again but the same thing happened and its still spraying little bits in the paint https://www.flickr.com/photos/159926310@N03/45422843884/in/dateposted-public/ (pic of bits sanded off) Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any replies. Dee
  9. Ok thanks will get mr color . Not got a spray booth but maybe i can airbrush outside if the weather is good in some sort of mdf enclosure or box
  10. Thanks for your reply Dave but i still am not sure if i should get the hobby aqueous acrylics or the mr color lacquer ones? I also have some tamiya acrylics and model master i am using on other models such as the clear uss enterprise and tamiya f117 but need the mr color or mr hobby as they have specific fs colors for the main body of the f14 16 18s. I can use the tamiya acrylics on any other parts of the f14 16 18 as well as i already have the colors required
  11. Hi I am new to Airbrushing and wanted to airbrush some plane models such as the F16 , F18, F14 from Hasegawa and Tamiya. I will prime with Tamiya primer and have a 3M Respirator with Organic Filters. I was wondering which out of Mr hobby Aqueous which is a solvent based acrylic or the Mr Color (lacquer) is better or more suitable, I want to use the Mr Color Levelling Thinner with the paints. I understand the Aqueous is less toxic but the lacquer based paint is more durable? Thanks in advance for any advice. Dee
  12. I have got about 5 more models to make after the Star Destroyer is done. So will need to prime and airbrush them so might get a spray booth , ie the ones from Amazon for £80.00
  13. I sprayed again outside Tamiya Insigina White, lungs seem ok this time. But as its cold here in Birmingham UK. ie below 10C/50F as I bought the model inside quickly (last time I let it dry for a bit then bought it in) and put in the cellar as its the only room where i could put it where no one will be about, certainly has stinked the cellar a bit. I put a cardboard box over the model to see if that reduces the smell. I dont think I will spray the Primer or any Tamiya spray next time unless temps are above 10C and leave outside to dry for an hr at least before bringing inside.
  14. Thanks for all replies, thought I would get a few comments about the plastic liner but I only had it on as I was advised the Tamiya spray was quite bad and chemicals vapor could possibly get through the skin (ie on face) and I dont have a full face mask.
  15. Hi, I am new to modelling and are in the process of building a Zvedva Star Destroyer. I have been using the Tamiya Fine Surface Primer & Insignia White outside. I have put on some Safety Goggles and the following 3M face mask - https://www.screwfix.com/p/3m-4251-maintenance-free-organic-vapour-particulate-respirator-ffa1p2rd/13038 when I am spraying as well and some Nitrile gloves. Is this enough protection? I thought it would be but its just my chest feels a bit funny after spraying so was wondering if maybe I had the wrong filters? I could not smell the paint though and had a a further plastic liner over my head and the filter just in case. Thanks for reading and any replies. Dee
