  1. Thanks John, Absolutely not, I have a Panther lined up on the bench!!!
  2. Hi Folks, Greetings from sunny Kent. I thought I'd share a few pics with you all of my first attempt at armour. I've made a few aircraft but thought I'd try my hand at something different. Loved it! This is the Tamiya kit. No one here to critique my work so I'm putting it out there for you fine nimble fingered folks.. Be gentle with me!!
  3. Hi Folks, Quick question, I hope you may be able to help. I'm in the final stages of building the Airfix 1/24 typhoon. I opined the package that contains the canopy parts only to find that there is a crack on the front edge. Reading on a few forums I see that this can be a common fault. The kit is over a year old and I can't get any help from where it was purchased. I contacted Airfix but they informed me that part was not available. I also found a replacement after market part but I can't get a reply from the stockist. Any ideas??? Thanks for your help Simon
  4. Hi, Thanks. I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on
  5. Would sharpies work applied after a matt coat?
  6. On another note, when introducing colour to control panels, due to the fact that the panel is black, I can't seem to get bright colours such as red or yellow for switches etc. Any thoughts?
  7. Hi Adam, My thoughts exactly but this seems to be what is implied by the various build reviews I've read.
  8. Hi Folks, I'm presently in the midst of building the Airfix 1.24 Typhoon. I have both parts of the instrument panel painted, the rear part glossed and ready to receive the decals (airscale). My question is, do I assemble both parts and then place the decals through the holes or place the decals on the rear section and then assemble? I plan to finish the dials with Kristal Klear. Sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks for your help Simon
  9. Hi Folks, Thanks for the replies and suggestions. So, no joy with the oven cleaner, not even a dulling of the shine. I took the plunge and ordered a tub of biostrip 20. It's waterbased, safe with styrene and listed as being effective on enamel. Sounds to good to be true, not super cheap but if it rescues a couple of kits, should be worth it. I'll let you know.
  10. Interested in this as I just stuffed up a 1/48 lightning :(. I foolishly used gloss black Plastikote as a base for Allclad Chrome, didn't go well. I presently have the kit soaking in Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner, wrapped up in a bag, it's been on for 4 hours but doesn't seem to be working. Any thoughts? Would Dettol work on this or does that only work on Acrylic? Thanks for your advice Simon
  11. Hi Folks, Thanks for your responses and sorry about posting in the wrong location. I won't bother moving it as I seemed to have solved the problem. The good folks at Airfix are sending me the decals so all sorted. On reflection I have actually built two kits. I started with the new tool Revell 1/32 Spitfire and then was fortunate to pick up a 1/32 Tamiya Spit, that took me nearly six months to build but I'm pretty happy with the results. I would post a few pics, but can't figure out how to get them from my phone to the forum. ( bit of a technophobe). Thanks again for all the help. Once I've sorted out the technical side of things I think I'll take Troy' s advice and do a work in progress. Happy building Simon
  12. Hi Chaps. Firstly, just wanted to say hi, I'm new to the forum and just back in the modelling game after a rather lengthy break of 35 years, one build in and loving it. So here is my question, I pushed the boat out and purchased the Airfix 1/24 Mosquito in the black friday sales. Really looking forward to getting started. Doing a little research on schemes and I have fixed upon The dark grey scheme with yellow spinners from the original 1/24 release (sorry I can't find a reference to which squadron etc) Does anyone know where I can purchase decals for this? Looking forward to your responses. Thanks again Simon
