  1. Looks to be a good one, a bit of body work and it should come out nicely!
  2. Thanks Mike, i managed to get them in but don't have any photos, could you put it in techniques, thank you! If anyone is curious, they do go in with a hefty amount of sanding and make the wing slightly fatter, but its not too noticeable! Tom
  3. Hi guys i'm looking for some advice, not sure where to ask for help so hopefully its allowed in this area. i'm currently trying to fit the Aires main gear bays into the wings of the airfix 1/48 ee lightning, but ive sanded away as much of the resin part and lower wing that i can, and it still doesnt seem to fit, theres still some room on the upper wing to sand but im getting butt clenchingly close to paper thin plastic which would not be ideal. has anyone used these parts and got them to fit, if so how much did you have to sand off? Thank you Tom
  4. Been a while.. went on holiday then got covid! back to the bench now and continuing on the cockpit has been painted with all the details and will probably leave it at that, not sure it needs a wash, i painted the main gear bays and the exposed engine parts trying to follow reference photos. they show an orange, burnt tinge to part of it which i tried to replicate using rust tones and oils and then at the front part i used clean metal colours. i gave the bays a pin wash focusing on putting it around the raised parts and trying to show off the details. 7. Happy Saturday shipmates This is my first attempt at doing a build process forum topic thread thingy, I'm usually just a lazy Instagram poster but i thought i might try to match the effort from you guys on here and actually somewhat document this build. Ive been wanting to do a Bucc for sometime and have had the Airfix 1/72 FAA kit sat in my stash for a year or so collecting dust and decided now was the time, given their upcoming 1/48 release. I purchased a fairly large amount of aftermarket sets as i've just done a couple airfix kits oob and felt they needed more.. In particular: CMK resin cockpit set Quickboost - FOD covers, Remove before flight tags/covers and Antennas Eduard Brassin Wheels Master Pitot tube and refuel probe HGWModels remove before flight tags The plan - Imagine a RN Buccaneer as an airshow static display.. Thats it Sounds boring i know, but as its my first of this aircraft i wanted to preserve the excellent lines of the Buccaneer aswell as add covers and open the canopy etc, however you'd rarely if ever find one on a carrier with the wings spread but the intake covers on and canopy open (correct me if im wrong) Im hoping to do the 1/48 kit as wings folded, bombs loaded, ready for the crew to walk, on a deck, but we will have to wait for that. So on with photos I made a few additions to the CMK set in the form of wires, piping, the computer holder in the frame of the rear seat blast screen and then the pointy parts of the bang seats which for some reason cmk missed. The blast screen middle frame part was stolen from the kit as the cmk piece was just a square block.. anyway IMG_1086 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG_1093 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG_1091 by tomradford15, on Flickr On to painting, as the detail is so small and shallow i didnt prime it but instead went with light, well thinned coats of tamiya XF-24 Dark Grey as the base layer, then on top of that, XF-82 ocean grey as the main colour of the cockpit. This was still quite dark so I went over that with XF-82 + few drops of XF-2 white, but trying to apply it from a top down angle to put emphasis on the upward facing, and so highlighted areas. Next im going to hand paint the raised details in the cockpit colour which will leave all the airbrushed paint as essentially shading. To be continued.. Tom

  14. Had fun with the paint scheme on this one, i will admit i didnt follow reference photos as for some reason i didnt think to look at any until after id done it.. not sure why. but using the eduard interpretation of the scheme from the instructions and a bit of artistic license i came up with this! this is also my first 109 since wayyy long ago before i was even using an airbrush, kit wise id say not one of eduards best in terms of fit but details is of course lovely with all the rivets etc hope you enjoy Tom IMG-7909 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7944 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7943 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7963 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7967 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7978 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7980 by tomradford15, on Flickr IMG-7993 by tomradford15, on Flickr

  18. Hello chaps, Decided to stretch my legs and get busy with new techniques and weathering practises, im currently on Elementary Flying Training at RAF Cranwell and part of my daily routine is driving past a Jet Provost sat proudly opposite a Dominie. This got me thinking and of course i went and picked up Airfix's 1/72 JP in 1 FTS markings, I decided to model it after the one here (not in terms of markings or model, the one at Cranwell is a T.5 and im making a T.3 for starters but focusing on the wear and tear) then a friend from instagram sent me pictures of a rather dilapidated JP sat in a farmers field somewhere down south... and suddenly the plan went from a mildly dirty gate guardian to a "my god how have you managed to let it get to this state phil" and a few weeks later here we are at the final stages of weathering and now im debating doing another one but nice and clean because its almost heart breaking seeing such a lovely aircraft with green and brown where there really shouldn't be... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RAZnCrz9wCBXJdXisMPOQKivabRJtY_0/view?usp=sharing
  19. thank you guys, Eduards photo etch set was used for this, the side door stairs are entirely photo etch, the build was good but did have a few fit issues especially around the upper fuselage behind the cockpit, here are some interior photos
  20. Hi all, this is my rendition of the mighty King, hope you enjoy, i have an instagram account that follows the build more closely, feel free to share: @scalemodels_tr Thanks! https://www.flickr.com/photos/143685577@N07/shares/2M69W2 https://www.flickr.com/photos/143685577@N07/shares/3UD954
