  1. Just managed to get a Sherpa van from the bay, which I will eventually turn into Joe Kapp's sherpa from the 1979/1980 "Quatermass" that aired on ITV. Planning on a 'Ringstone Round' Post alien strike dio with it. Never made a metal kit before, so looking forward to that!. Ley, ley, ley, ley... Lol.
  2. Thanks buddy!. Have had a bit of setback, as I somehow managed to lose the lever guide of my airbrush down the sink whilst cleaning it!. I think I can botch up another, using the end of a ball point pen refill though. Seemed to work perfectly with plain old distilled water, but I will have to see how it works with paint in the morning. I have bought another cheapo airbrush incase it doesn't work though. I WILL put up the photos of the Trawler dio in the Sci-fi thread, and I'll call it "Escape from Cthulhu". Also got the Ford Trimotor Monogram kit in, and like the Revell Trawler, it is pretty awful compared to the Tamiya Suzuki Katana kit I have here, forgive my lack of the proper terminology, but every single piece needs a hell of a lot of work to be even semi passable!.scraping, sanding, filler, realignment of details, lots of excess plastic, you name it,every part needs work!. Anyway, now off to fiddle and tinker with other projects!. DT
  3. I have now figured out how to do a scale Cthulhu for this diorama, not all together identical to the story, so I'll put it down to artistic licence!. The 'Alert' is coming on nicely, all portholes drilled out, and 'windowed',and mostly painted,so the hull is nearly finished now, just need another couple of coats of red under the pimsole line, and just the 'weathering' (or rather, battering, and rusting, due to those lazy cultists not bothering to 'swab the decks'... Lol!). The deck is sort of finished, depends on how anal I get with this build, I would like water to be draining out all over the deck, but cannot decide what medium I shall use, acrylic lacquer, or plain old thinned out varnish. The hull has been sectioned out into 3 compartments, and the deck has 3 yellow flickering L.E.D's,so all compartments flicker individually. After finishing of the red paint on the hull, I am starting on cutting the windows/portholes out of the upper deck, and lighting those up to. I have been taking photos, but have not had much luck uploading them, but I will put them up here when I have managed it!.
  4. Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!.
  5. Ohh!, I am awaiting a Ford Trimotor Antarctica expedition Revell/monogram kit at the moment, so I can recreate the ill fated 1930-1931 Miskatonic University Antarctic Expedition myself... I am wearing the above tee shirt as I type!. I think I will go for the diorama where they land the plane, and find the bloodied remains, tents, cave entrance, etc. Trouble is, the Ford Trimotor kit cost me £35 off the 'bay, and it comes from France... Love your work BTW!, I have a lot to learn buddy!.
  6. Hi everybody, just joined site,as after a 27 year hiatus, I have decided to get back into modelling. The main reason being I want a few H.P.Lovecraft/fantasy dioramas, using a combination of plastic kits, air dried clay, plaster of Paris, and anything else I can think of!. I have just got an airbrush, so I imagine I'll be using that, but, as with the clay sculptures, I am new to them both!. My first diorama I am working on is using a Revell 1:142 North Sea Fishing Trawler, modded to look like a 1920's/30's trawler (the Alert), and the idea is to have it pulling back through the waves from Cthulhu,I am trying to figure out how to sculpt Cthulhu to the 1:142 scale though, as it would have to be the size of my 6 year old!. I may just mod the boat into something else, with tentacles dragging it under the ocean,(the 'Texas Rose' from 'Warlords of Atlantis' style diorama) and make a trawler in a much smaller scale for the Cthulhu project. Anyway, enough of my ranting, thanks for having me here. DT
