  1. I have, it's mind bogglingly good, I guess with all builds it comes down to how much you want to put into it, I'm just conscious to not bite off more than I can chew,
  2. That funnel top looks very good, there's something about them that I always find impressive,
  3. Evening all, I'm nearing the end of my current build - 1/350 Dunkerque, its my second battleship I am row and I fancy doing a carrier, I've a dozen other things in the stash but have my sights set on a flat top. Now rumour has it that they are a lot more work than they look, so question is any recommendations on first one to try? I'm eyeing up; Very fires Taiho which is due pretty soon but far from cheap (that said which of them really are!) Trumpys Hornet which is the cheapest option although not by much Merits Ark Royal is another option Or Trumpys Yorktown cv10, Not sure if it really makes a difference which I go for but thought I'd seek the collectives input incase one is known as a difficult build Thanks Sam
  4. In the end I got the mini dispea bending tool, so far I absolutely love it,
  5. Ah okay, thanks for looking that out, I was looking at picking that book up by coincidence, I may get to do a red one after all, I'm hoping to back date trumpys kit to 1940 but that's by the by for the antifouling,
  6. The plot thickens, I think I'll go grey, as you say it's looking increasingly likely, but does mean my cabinet will look increasingly dull lol,
  7. Dickrd, can I just echo that thanks of others for the efforts you've put into this subject, From what you've found I'm wondering if Repulse and Warspite would similarly have been a grey anti fouling as well, it would seem likely,
  8. Well well well, look what happened to appear in the post; I must say they package it very well, Its not huge but i think its going to work a treat, feels like a quality bit of kit and got it direct from China for £30 or so, took six weeks but I saved £20, Also already tired of tweezers that bend every time you use them so invested in these, you can see from the thickness difference that they should be a good improvement, So granted this isnt really a progress update but I was excited about my new 'toys' as the wife would call them, Thanks Sam
  9. I'd guess from what dickrd has found that it's likely as you say, and a model built later based on assumptions about predominantly used colours
  10. Well done Jon, think she looks really very good indeed, I'd not thought of doing something mercantile but she's turned my head a bit which is testament to the end result you've achieved
  11. Ah yes the honey do list, I guess being free of work does free up a bit of time, I've got that to look forward to ...... just not too soon lol,
  12. Jon, You'll be fine, but I'll confess I've no idea how you go at such a pace, Sam
  13. Let me be the voice of sanity, finish what you've started! Although having said that an endlessly growing stash is of course an enjoyment all of it's own and picking a new subject and learning about it is fun and I mean by comparison to Bismarck it's cheap and its a really cool looking ship, so yeah....you should um,.....definitely um......
  14. yeah i could see my getting an nice bit of tamiya red on the whites not going down well, thanks for the response,
  15. Hi All, Sorry I realise this is a very old thread, but any reason why if the weather is clement you couldn't just spray outside and aside a mask not need anything else? Does the air temp. cause any concerns re finish/workability? If so what sort of temp range would be 'safe'? I hobby in the a pre room adjacent the kids room so don't really want the noise of running a compressor of an evening or the risk of enamel fumes backing into the house, the wind predominantly comes onto the back of the house so blows into the room so unless an extract duct was pretty long I'd expect I'd still get something coming back in, Sam
  16. I'm.also looking forward to those girders, they'll look impressive for sure,
  17. Thanks, I'd forgotten about l'arsenal, I'm guessing the show at Telford isn't on this year which is a blighter but I'll look at their site
  18. If I'm not mistaken several of those ships are French, the second still looks to be one of their cruisers and at about 14:05 in the video Hood appears to be astern either Dunkerque or Strasbourg
  19. Great looking build, well done, I must say it concerns me how little of these ships is actually in the water,
  20. That does sound very very fiddly, by the look of it though you're pulling it off....well sticking it down obviously but you know what i mean,
  21. Hi Jon, It honestly has been largely an easy build, i suspect the issues ive had have been largely down to my inexperience/kack handidness, I'm sure...and fully expect yours to come up a treat, when do you think you'll start her?
